      if you are curious about other folks on here and other platforms here are some other suggestions: Boots on the Ground/Steve Boots, Sandy & Nora Talk Politics plus their spin off Daily News, Rachel Gilmore, Pam Palmater, and Mexie when she feels like it (which is less these days). I hope other folks see this comment and suggest more. I am always looking for canadian political content. Sometime We're in Hell does some Canadian commentary, same with Thought Slime. JJ McCullough does a lot but... he's a questionable source 6/10 times.

      @@V1sual3y3zI always struggle with Boots because I think he has become jaded over time (followed him right from the beginning on TikTok). He obviously deals with a lot of trolls and hate, unfortunately I think it has made him less capable of discerning between good and bad faith criticism. So he's becoming less and less likely or capable of realizing when he's wrong or far less informed on a topic than he believes himself to be and if people push back against it they become a false positive for hate/trolling.
      I have become frustrated with him over time. He's very clearly capable of recognizing and pointing out the ignorance of say some Rightwing individuals who have fallen victim to misinformation about Trans issues. However, he can't seem.fsthom that he might have blind spots or perhaps having not studied certain topics lack competence in discussing them as well as he discusses topics he has read about.
      Nobody is perfect, everyone is flawed and I still enjoy his content. I enjoy it a lot less now that he's clearly navigating (and in my opinion sinking) the turbulent waters of 'Audience Capture'.

      There are a lot of very valid reasons to criticize Trudeau. He may not be as insane as PP but he still prioritizes corporate profits over the needs of Canadians. Never forget they pulled a bait a switch with electoral reform. Trudeau has also openly admitted he doesn't want housing prices to fall.

Lots of people live here under a weird status for years, don't contribute, and run a lot of nonsense. Canadians don't even know what jobs we need filled, maybe we should focus on getting info out to the people we already have here (also I'm pro birth control amd don't want any nonsense regarding women's health, because we need it, but we have an extreme lack of any education here, it's a problem)

Another issue you need to consider is the price in terms of both actual funds and breaches of everyone's privacy (i.e. CONSTANT tracking, etc.) it would cost to route this out outweighs the benefit of getting rid of what are ultimately negligible levels of abuse/waste or however you'd like to term it.

      @jocelynsmyth6604 2 місяці тому +1

      @cweretelnyk respectfully, something I see and experience is obviously going to affect to my viewpoint, same as yourself. If you want to live in any country, you should contribute to that country. We many people already here, trying to get their families here, being put through a million hoops. If the people in the immigration offices don't have clear, concise plans and requirements, there is a mess. And we have a mess. Look at the food banks, more and more people are using them, and less and less people can contribute to them because of the cost of groceries, etc. I love that Canada is so multicultural, but if we can't take care of the people already here, all the systems need to be re-evaluated.
      Edit: also, it's not 'who I think they are', health care procedures like an ultrasound are hundreds of dollars, and I won't get into non-ohip service provider nonsense or stuff I've seen people try to do. I work in healthcare and do believe ohip is a good thing, but if you want to be in Canada, you should work and contribute, or your sponsor should have you covered, in the case of bringing a parent over, in the context that maybe they contribute by watching the children of the sponsor.

    • @cweretelnyk
      @cweretelnyk 2 місяці тому +2

      @@jocelynsmyth6604 also respectfully, I feel you largely missed my point. Firstly, I genuinely wasn't implying racism here (because I *think* that's how you perceived it), I simply meant that unless you actually hear someone admit that they're doing what you say they are, you can't know. Again, I FULLY ACKNOWLEDGE that these people exist, and this does happen, I am not remotely questioning that. Part of my point was that you SHOULD (we also should) balance our subjective experience with more logical data points. Yes, we have a bit of a mess, but it's not due to the few people who fly in to use our hospitals.
      The immigration offices DO have clear plans and requirements. There is extensive legislation they are bound by. Further, without immigrants, Canada will be like Japan, as our birth rate is below the replacement rate.
      The food bank issue seems to have a lot to do with the education sector relying on international students bringing in tuition funds, and then someone turning those students on to our food banks. I'm genuinely happy that that's going to stop as that's been a bit tragic.
      Again, my point now, as the first time around, personal experience must be balanced by the bigger picture. There are many things we may or may not like, but upon further examination, they may appear like the lesser of two evils, actually logical, entirely how we perceived them, etc.

I hope other folks see this comment and suggest more. I am always looking for canadian political content. Sometime We're in Hell does some Canadian commentary, same with Thought Slime. The absolute hypocrisy of people saying that Canada and the US have too many immigrants when both countries were 'built' on 'immigration'. I use the term immigration loosely because Indigenous people in Canada did not cede their land, their land is unceded. Homeland security since 1497 in Canada and 1492 in the US, folks. If you are not Indigenous in Canada and the US, then you are an immigrant, or your parents were, or your ancestors were immigrants. By plane, or by boat, simple as that.

Coming from B.C. where more than one in three people are Indigenous or of colour, it's shocking what I hear some people believe and it's all demonstrably wrong and from American social media. For all our racism and faults as a nation, we do not have the exact same types of default racial divides as the U.S. I pray we'll keep it that way.
