Theory:
I think ash loves brook but brook is in denial and something is holding him back to confess . In the song it goes:
(you know I want you it's not something I try to hide) . So this is ash telling brook that he loves him.( Well the Male in the song says this )
In the next part of the song it goes like this (the female in the song sings this):

You think I don't wanna run to you
But there are mountains
And there are doors that we can't walk through ( this is saying brook wants to be with ash but hes holding back his feelings bc of some reason )
I know you're wondering why because we're able to be

That it was hopeless after all( I think this bit is saying that if they even get into a relationship it wouldnt work and it wouldnt end right )

Rewrite the stars the song is the Male was singing that he wants the female to be his and wants to rewrite the stars so they can be together but the female say that's its impossible to be together and can't rewrite the stars...So what I'm thinking is if the female said they can't be together then and Male wants to be together I think The Male is ash and the female is Brook Because some people dislike LGBTQ+ Brook is saying they can't be together because there both the same gender but ash doesn't want to give up so he want's to rewrite the stars so that they can be together I know doesn't make sense but I also have this one theory also that's brook is a girl😶..
