It more or less is better. It's increased casting difficulty is more than made up for by the room it saves in the sideboard (which IMO, is the most important resource you have in modern)
Well, it's something really fringe, but lone missionary costs 2, meaning it's easier to return it on the battlefield with rally. That said, knight is strictly better than rec sage, I would totally apply that replacement.
Unless I am missing something against tron game 1 couldn't you keep ewit (30:00)? You get back rally block the wurm go to 1 with 0 cards in library. Then do rally at upkeep. I think you had 19 drain triggers.
@@MTGGoldfish you talked about maximizing draws, and in that vein, I think in game one against tron in response to ulamog, I think I would sac canopy first, just because I don't think getting to the 2 rallies on the bottom is realistic
Also in a slightly hindsight being 20/20 sort of thing you could have scryed down to a Rally and drawn it with the canopy at instant speed if you simply didn't choose to sacrifice the stitcher's supplier first at 28:30 Though I saw you agonizing over that decision because the odds a rally would be in the top were low with 2 at the bottom of your deck so digging with the stitcher would get you higher odds of hitting one with your scrys afterwords. So that's less a misplay and more a misfortune. I suppose this deck always should sac stitcher last. Or it could run a one of Unburial Rites for occasional asspulls.
Control match you were also shuffling cards that were sent to the bottom when you fetch. If you know you are looking for a card don't fetch unless you have to.
In game 2 of match 1, the RIP turns off the death trigger on Stitcher, since it never technically dies. not that it mattered in that match, just an interesting interaction.

Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat won't trigger with a Rest in Peace out since the creatures we sac get exiled rather than dying (which basically means "put in the graveyard").

Played a version of this deck a few years ago at an fnm and had one of my best moments. Jund was big at the time (pre-eldrazi winter) and a fairly regular sideboard card was night of souls betrayal. He played it on 4 after i spent a few turns on mediocre beats. I kept playing cards into it and rallied back a bin full of blood artists and cutthroats for the match win. Best part was I didn't have a sac outlet. I think he started rethinking his life choices after that.

Pretty sure there was a G/W devotion deck at standard at one point. It used nykthos shrine to nyx to make a lot of mana. Then it used it's mana to make a lot of manifest creatures with Mastery of the Unseen. Which in turn also made let it gain a ton of life. Dragon Throne of Tarkir was someones idea for a mirror breaker. You spend mana and tap some creatures to get an over run and then smash in.
I have the worst Dryad Arbor luck. I could see playing it as a one-of as an extra creature to fetch out, but I tend to have it in my opening hand and then it dies.
Favorite quote I guess it's not terrible I could see Tomer play this with kaldra. New scale on jank is it against the odds jank or Tomer kaldra level jank.
I feel like you the only things you really need to get rid of is graveyard hate and there are creatures that do that, and you want to run as many creatures as possible because of CoCo

Seth as a rule, if you're looking for something don't sack the Stitcher Supplier. You could have sacked the other cards before Supplier then sacked Supplier when you draw the Rally

You could sack the other creatures until you found the Rally, then pop the Canopy and draw it, then mill some more. I'll try to look for the time stamp of when this was relevant. Love the deck though and am glad you played it.
I play dragon throne in almost every commander deck I play! It is crazy with cards that pump themselves or even blue black phenax mill.... Give it a shot Seth, you will be very surprised at how good it is
One time I pumped a Hydra Broodmaster and equipped a DT and, damn... I blew out my 3 opponents after swinging for 130 damage. It can surprise people no doubt.

Tutored for tetsuko and dragon throne (previous turn). Had consuming abberation out. Played Tetsuko and DT... Needless to say we didn't bother counting the damage output that 8 1/1 unlockable creatures pulled. It had to have been close to a 70/70 consuming abberation lol
Just to clear all the confusion on why Seth doesn’t run knight of autumn over rec sage or noble hierarch over the pilgrim, he did not make the deck. The point of this is to try out the decks that others made so he prob just wanted to play cards that the guy who made the deck used.
@@MidgarMerc hairach is a lot better, it is more versatile and it prdouces 2 colors for your colors, but mabey they wanted to keep the deck on the cheap side, because having him is going to make the deck quite expensive.
This isn't budget magic it's much abrew. Deck's already running verdant catacombs and other very expensive cards so there's no actual reason not to give it a more competitive edge

Yeah, a graveyard deck with only two Reclamation Sages in the SB to deal with graveyard hate isn't going to cut it. Sure, Thoughtseize and Eternal Witness can also possibly help there but are ineffective if your opponent lands a Rest in Peace or something similar. I think 3-4 Knight of Autumn along with the 1-2 Rec Sages in the SB should do the trick.
I read your article after I watched the video and saw you mentioned it there, so obviously you were aware of it. It's funny though, in the one game (I think it was match 1, game 2 against that control deck) where your opponent landed two Rest in Peace, you spent so much time sacking creatures to dig for a Rec Sage when you might have been able to win if you just kept casting all your small creatures and swinging with all of them. You had chipped away at his life total pretty good and he didn't seem to be doing much of anything in terms of defense. :-) Anyway, fun video. Thanks, Seth!
Saff a suggestion when you sideboard, maybe its good to put the cards you are bringing in or out on the right side. It'll be much easier to understand .

I've been leaning towards Cutthroat lately because Blood Artist doesn't let me swing in for damage, and often I'm not actively getting creature trades just defending or swinging all out since we can sac in response to blocks for more triggers. Currently running a 3/3 split.
Big mistake to sacrifice the Supplier first to the Seer. When looking for a specific non-creature card it's always better to simply just scry first, instead of running into the risk of milling the exact card you're looking for
Rest in Peace was the big problem. With Rest in Peace on the battlefield Blood Artist doesn't trigger because the creature gets exiled instead of dying, so we needed to find an answer to Rest in Peace first and then combo off.
When I posted this I was in the middle of the second game and wrongfully assumed you were talking about the first. I agree in the second game it was just salt. Though I will keep to my point in regards to the first game.
I agree on the first game, sure. I always just scoop unless my opponent is being a jerk. I value my time more than waiting for an opponent to click a bunch and then most likely it doesn't ever end up mattering.
Why do the opponents always suck he didn't attack with coif like three turns why not make him block and if he doesn't block you win that's the point of the game right

The same reason worship (and ensnaring bridge) are bad against tron. Oblivion stone was out. Ulamog is also indestructible

Something dies when it is put into the graveyard from the battlefield. RIP says things never go to the graveyard, so nothing dies.
Basically, "dies" means "goes to the graveyard." With a Rest in Peace out the creature goes to exile instead of "dies" triggers don't trigger.

in round 1 game 2, why could you not play your blood artists and sac your stuff anyways to drain your op out of the game? you had like 3 in hand ;0
i guess you did that at the end but i felt like you could've done it many turns earler haha. but maybe i am wrong
Rest in Peace was the big problem. With Rest in Peace on the battlefield Blood Artist doesn't trigger because the creature gets exiled instead of dying, so we needed to find an answer to Rest in Peace first and then combo off.
UW Control player has nothing better to do than just sit there and die. Just scoop already
The clock is a valid wincon. If you're opponent is playing a slower win you have no obligation to scoop to it.

When I posted this I was in the middle of the second game and wrongfully assumed you were talking about the first. I agree in the second game it was just salt. Though I will keep to my point in regards to the first game.
I agree on the first game, sure. I always just scoop unless my opponent is being a jerk. I value my time more than waiting for an opponent to click a bunch and then most likely it doesn't ever end up mattering.
If it's any consolation Seth, I really enjoyed game 1 against Mono-Green Tron. That was some of the worst running I have ever seen

I wish seth's voice would just narrate all my modern games to both me and my opponents. I would lose all of my games since my opponents would know what I'm doing all the time, but it would totally be worth.
