I really enjoyed half of it, the other half kind of falls flat for me unfortunately but when it hits it hits HARD My top list for this compilation: D'Lion - Basic Tune Masq - Vengeance Automatik X Havel X Ghoulish - A Call Beyond Extant - Awakening Invictous - Teeth Grinder Punishment. - Putrify Digitist - FuckinW/UrHead Amoons - Ergo Enamnisis Still a solid compilation from some of the best in the underground scene, big ups to interval man, always.
Love your reviews Nawty! Keep going! :) My fav. of WOG7 is #409 by Nimda & "H" 😂 I agree with you on the Supercool track! I think he could have done a little more "hard hitting"(?) in the percussion front. I think it was a good idea to do it live, the label deserves it! Really good comp! Interval Audio is gettin bigger and bigger :D
god where have you been all my life! haha. i felt like i was alone, in my own little bubble all these years, wrenching my head back and forth to these bangers, with only soundcloud comments to accompany me. But hey, there are other REAL humans that enjoy this music specifically! damn!
Also, I'd like to add, what a awesome yet unorthodox concept, to just dissect underground bass music. I've seen it done countless times with pop music, rap music, but finally this medium and genre can get some actual appreciation for what it excels in. It was always commonly thought bass music was just loud and obnoxious and wasn't real music, but the technical ability in regards to rhythm, energy, percussion, sound design, and creating a theme, all culminating into essentially awakening that deep carnal, visceral human trait we have to be utterly, purely violent.
I personally feel like every track on this compilation was really enjoyable compared to previous intervals. My favourite has gotta go to Basic Tune and The Living Dead by Hol!
I honestly loved Mercury, to me it felt like a spiritual successor to Phone Tap by Space Laces. Sure it could have used a bit more refinement, but damn if I doesn't give me the same vibes.
I can understand what you're saying about the percussion. It might be an issue of compromise between the artist and the listener. The artist wan'ts the percussion to be swampy and lower in pitch. As an example of a perfect execution of hard hitting percussion would be Algo x Aweminuns - Panini Bass. It is the loudest, most impactful percussion i've ever heard.
Not every track here is a winner but for a FREE compilation with some very innovative stuff (not every track here sounds the same, as with some compilations) this is top of the heap. I'm always blown away by these and they are so DEEP that you could spend a year digesting all of the ideas and fully appreciating the nuances on offer here. This is one of my favorite compilations in Bass music.
Heyyyyyy If you haven't heard it yet, I recommend you review "Hepex - E1M1 Eternal [DOOM Eternal Remix]" over at Hydraulic Damnation. It came out in march but it still a fecking heavy deathstep banger.
BIG COMP. What did you guys make of 'WOG7'? Which tracks are your favourites from the 22? Let me know in the comments!
Arc light, teeth grinder and goopo are my favourites and also lunch money is very good (sounds like tripolar dub a little tbh)
Favourite has to be Arc Light. That was the most surprising in my opinion.
I really enjoyed half of it, the other half kind of falls flat for me unfortunately but when it hits it hits HARD

the cuts to your random bass faces are hilarious, great review!
A call from beyond is my favorite. It feels like it's a storytelling deathstep track. And its fucking incredible
I honestly loved Mercury, to me it felt like a spiritual successor to Phone Tap by Space Laces. Sure it could have used a bit more refinement, but damn if I doesn't give me the same vibes.
CLPR - Mercury, because CLPR is god.

FUCKINW/URHEAD is probably the best on the comp for me. Very unique to see those deep sounds on a riddim comp like this
Jumpy little riddim bopper
Sick
Lunch Money is an absolute belter!
I love how he sampled Heir to the Cum Throne
