10 Fishing in Koh Lanta Thailand with my Thai husband | Sweet love story of the fisherman couple

- In this episode of beautiful stories from Koh Lanta we join a fishing trip with our kids and a local fisherman couple called Ja Malee and Bang Godet from Koh Por, a real authentic and non-touristy local island just opposite of Koh Lanta island.
We are leaving from the Old Town pier. The plan is to go fishing for shrimps in the middle of the sea. We fish with a long net that we lower into the water, wait about half hour and then pull the net out of the water and see, what did we catch?
We catch so many things! Different fish, shrimp, octopus, squid, crab and we see some jelly fish and some shells that get stuck in the net.
The fisher couple tell us the story of how they met and got married many years ago, in the times when parents decided for the kids who they would marry.
Finally we go to Koh Por where we are going to stay for one night in the homestay of the family called Malee Home Stay. If you would like to book a fishing trip you can contact the family on their Facebook page:

This is what makes me attracted to Thailand. Maayan I have traveled a lot, but of all the places I have been too. Thailand is the only country that is very close to my heart, and it keeps calling me back. I wouldn't want Mon to be jumping from a boat in any part of Australia. Perth has had a few casualties over the years, due to sharks, and I have seen a few monsters on TV. I have always believed that the Ocean belongs to the Sharks, and we humans should respect that. To live in a place like yours. To get up every morning and look at the sea, the mountains and the Islands around you, would be breath taking. I envy you, Maayan, but also by the same token. I am happy for you, that you are blessed with a great man, and 2 beautiful girls. Is it possible for me to make a day trip to Koh Lanta from Koh Samui, or is it quite far. Cheers.

Simple way of living, laid back and lots of fun. One thing that stands out is no one is wearing life jackets! and the boat is very simple! Here is NZ we have already had boat tragedies because people don't wear their life jackets.

Yeah I am so happy for them as I come from the other world. But of course they don't understand it or even feel that they live a special life. For them it's just their normal life. I wonder if one day they will realize it.
