BYTES is a testament to how unique and pioneering the Warp label was. Quirky electronica with mood, rhythmic ingenuity and best of all you know these guys where having fun using the technology of the day to progress "music" beyond the dance floor.
Im in the US and appreciate some of the great electronica that came out of the UK and Europe in general at the time as opposed the crap like Nirvana and MC Hammer that was popular in the US at the time.
Bytes, spanners, music for adverts and short films, silenced are all near perfect records
I cringe everytime I hear the dust guys mentioned in the same sentence as any of the the early Black Dog releases.
I'm sure when the early 12" got re released on soma one of them said I'm really happy or proud with the rereleases or something like that.
Is Ken Downie still a member of the band? He's not in any recent interviews I've seen!
regt mich auch immer wieder auf wenn ich platten im laden kaufen gehe und dann die paar mal angespielte platte sich schon anhört wie eine schellack aus den 20ern ...

19:41 .... alter schwede ... entweder ist der tonabnehmer voll im arsch oder das auflagegewicht ist deutlich überschritten. ich will hier keinen beleidigen oder so, aber tatsache ist nun mal, dass techno DJ's oftmals von plattenspielern oder plattenpflege absolut keine ahnung haben. hauptsache dreht und laut :)
