(WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. @Rajeev Vij There's a stark difference between asking for ID when someone comes to you to get a picture of themselves and between asking documents if someone wants to acquire guns though. In the latter, it should be mandatory, I'm not sure if it is or not, but we're talking about the US so I sadly wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do substantial background checks on everyone.

All the same, there has been recent research conducted about background checks, revealing that a consequential number of guns were sold without those, and some others about the loopholes in the system that people are able to exploit. Also, notice that I used the adjective "substantial" (which was generous), implicating that I don't think acquiring guns is as easy as to buy pop corn. I'll admit I've grown quite blasé about US and guns and the politics behind it; the point of my comment was not about guns. It was about the absurdity of comparing someone being asked to produce their ID for getting a photo and someone being asked their ID for buying guns. Those are two completely different situations with completely different ramifications. It's a bad faith justification to compare the two and ignore the racism or xenophobia that propels some people to act so inappropriately and unfairly.
Its literally just the photo though, it’s up to the department of state to confirm citizenship before issuing a passport.
