Very true, but also remember how Imperial looking the uniforms of the Red Army were at the 1945 Moscow victory parade. It seems Russia is returning to timeless classic military style. I rather like the change. There was a saying "soldiers shouldn't wear neckties, soldiers are warriors, not businessmen!"
This may sound very ignorant, but I do not know much about the military. Can someone please explain to me about the formations like divisions and regiments? Things like size and commanding officers etcetera. I tried looking on google but that did not help a lot.

The new uniforms are interesting but something seems a bit lacking about them. I think the collars need to be more prominent in color maybe. Also they need to reintroduce jackboots to the dress uniforms.
It's because these uniforms are Tsarist, they're closely resemble the White Army uniforms and if you haven't noticed, the neck collars cover the entire neck just like the white army ones. It's because Russia has been going through a slow but amazing de-communization process, thanks to Tsar Putin! Russia is also a right wing, predominantly white christian nation that is going back to it's roots.

I was referring to the St Petersburg parades, but in Moscow they used to sing the full anthem on parade in a capella in 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007.

True , when the Wachregiment der NVA changed from closed collars to shirt and tie it made a very negative look by comparison.
