Whispering Darkness - Stormpaw's Challenge (2)

The Dark Forest is rising. Well. Probably. Nobody actually knows - it's been a long time since StarClan last communicated with any cat, including the medicine cats. But everyone assumes they're rising. It's not like they're in a hurry to find out for sure, though.
For seasons, cats involved in prophecies or are gifted with powers from StarClan have been exiled due to most cats, including the leaders, fearing them. That's not a good reason, according to Rapidpaw, a ThunderClan apprentice who happens to have those powers everyone fears. She's forced to hide this from everyone except her friend, Shimmeringpaw, a RiverClan apprentice. Rapidpaw doesn't know exactly why she has these powers and doesn't really know what to use them for except filling the fresh-kill pile when her mentor forces her to. The problem is, she doesn't really know how to use them either - she definitely did fill the fresh-kill pile... just... maybe she should've tried to fill it a bit less?
Stormpaw is the RiverClan medicine apprentice. She didn't exactly choose that role, but she's pretty happy with it since it gives her lots of time to read. Unfortunately, she seems to be the only cat who knows what a "book" is. Which is a problem when you're trying to read all night, too. Especially when you're trying to read all night and it's the night of the gathering.
