- Seema Sirohi, a Washington-based journalist and columnist for The Economic Times, shares her insights on how the international media covered the recent Lok Sabha election results in India. Seema discusses the predominant narratives in the run-up to the elections, including the skepticism about Indian democracy and the negative bias against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Seema highlights how major publications like The New York Times and The Guardian emphasized Modi's perceived loss of invincibility and the rebuke from Indian voters, while The Wall Street Journal presented a more balanced view, acknowledging the complexity of the electoral outcome and Modi's substantial support base.
She also delves into the role of social media in shaping public opinion and contrasts the media landscapes of India and the US. As Seema points out, despite the inherent biases and challenges in both countries, the strength and resilience of Indian democracy have been reaffirmed by these election results. This interview gives an international perspective on one of the world's largest democratic exercises.

Finally a UA-cam discussion that doesn’t make my brain feel smaller
Completely baised US media. They don’t have b any locus standi to comment on India elections. A country who has to go to Court for election results does not have a right to comment on others. Jai Hind 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
After Indira Gandhi, it is PM Modi who has the guts to stand up to the Western narratives. That said, if you look at those news headlines, many of them have Indian authors. Regardless of what Western media writes, the PM is accountable to India's citizens and not to them. The previous PM did not have the spine to stand up to some of the Western members and that's how India surrendered to the US sanctions and ditched Iranian oil. When you try to do something right and it somehow works, people get confused and start criticizing. PM Modi is not going to bow down to Western countries, unlike RAGA who very much like to cry in front of the whites and seek their intervention. India is far from perfect, but under PM Modi, Indians feel safe and secure at home and there is no denial about it. Indians don't feel bullied and so many of them are countering the western narratives.
We are1.4 billion people. We should start judging foreign democracies and autocracies and should comment on their election process.
Our channel should take the lead. The upcoming US election could be the starting point. Best wishes!!🎉
We are not 1.41 billion. Reduce the number of Muslims .In Modi's calculus they are not Indians at all.
The Americans gave a clean chit to the Pakistani election. As such, one can imagine the level of their judgment. I think people have given unnecessary importance to the German UA-camr. I mean look at France 24 or DW News and some other news channels giving importance to his videos without questioning his credibility as a journalist and his methods of gathering information.
Foreign Media just follows their lackeys in India and vice versa, no efforts made to analyse threadbare.
They attach words fascists and whole eco system will be at for service
Only channel worth watching 🎉is Stratnews Global. Congratulations Nithin and team!!
So, electoral results in India are like defeat of Western media. But, in India and for India, it is victory of Bjp or better to say Victory of Modi. And defeat of Muslim friendly political parties
Very interesting conversation
Well spoken by Sima Sirohi in the above video and what she says was all facts.
Leftists in India are in bed with the leftists around the world
He did however get re-elected for the third time
I want to see what happens when he wins a fourth time
Adore leaders who work hard to take India to great heights and catchup the lost opportunities in eighties till early twenties. Being slaves of western mind set, many elights look for westen acceptence of India's stand and not back leaders who are trying to make India great.
It’s sign that Modi is on right track. Let the jealous be jealous.
You are Modi Bskht an illeterate to the core. He lost elections in Varanasi. Wait for few months more. Let's see where Modi lands whether on Moon or underground
If opposition had a little more resources, and media unbiased the government behaved fairly adhering to the law result would have been disaster for BJP. Why, even Modi could have been defeated, judging from the result.
The toolkit of George Soros has its effect though not in the proportion to the money and resources he had spent both outside as well as political parties like Rahul Gandhi's Congress and his Islamic fundamentalist political masters.

So much of nonsense analysis..
This does not prove democracy is alive, our government is autocratic in nature
How is the government autocratic? Please elaborate.
