Im amazed this little plane--i assume its a homebuilt, it looks very similar to the mini max except obviously is internally supported through its main spar instead of being externally supported. Same with the mains a clean simple design unlike the mini max which looks cluttered with external drag inducing supports by comperison although in no way dispariging the mini max as its one of the most popular widespread homebuilts ever and still kicking decades after its intro defying the odds as most kit or plan built companies have a short lifespan unfortunatly... I could be wrong here but it looks like it is sporting a four cylinder engine four stroke instead of two.. But even then...if you have a plane with a 15 thousand foot ceiling and i would think a minimax doesnt even come close to 15K...but even so if you take off from an airport thats extremly high altitude MSL you then dont have much to work with and in a few places around the world would eitheir make operations basically impossible. You would certainally be flying below the mountain tops not above IF you could even get the thing off the ground at all. I would also think that a 2 stroke engine, especialy with only small displacement 1 or 2 cylinders, engines like Rotax mainly makes would really suffer disproportionatly with altitude. But even with four cyl four stroke engines i would think the vw type conversions couldnt hack it altitudes like i would assume the french alps would be. But here i am proven ignorant..Talk about scenery and country to be flying over in a open cockpit plane!! This must be sheer extatic joy!! I would not be able to erase the smile from my face for months and i bet that utopia type high many of us get when flying as close to the millinea old dream of humans to be able to flap.their arms and taking off flying without being enclosed encombered restrained and or confined in any way..just your body..i suppose Hang Gliding and Powered Parachutes are as close to that as one can get then comes ultralights like the weedhoppers..i hate the weight shift ones and others like that where your sitting in a huge cage..a phantom would suit me much better especially when equiped with the 62 horse engine with preformance that makes most conventional pilots flying anything short of afterburning fighter aircraft, green with envy and jealosy that their la-z-boys with wings that the autopilots fly 99.9% of the time costing so much to own and operate they go into crippling debt for forty years of never ending bills--yet here you come with preformance they could only dream of, even cruising speeds not that much slower in most cases, that arent just fun but totally exillerating to fly and after you land you load it into your trailer and park it in your driveway instead of paying 12K a yrar for a hanger--not to mention insane insurance costs where as an ultralight you pay none. And best of all in many cases your entire aircraft costs not that much less than a set of new tires..a brand spanking new one costing less than they pay on hanger and insurance each year and thats just money thrown away..you though recoup a good portion when you resell and the difference?? Anyone woukd gladly pay that for the months and years of fun!! Sorry wandered there...but this would be almost as good as tgose and i know a weedhopper or phantom could never fly hogher than mountains in the alps.
