It would be a lot simpler to diminish the amount of Political Tribalism coming out of Washington with just a couple tweaks to our Political system, rather than trying to teach 300 million Americans the destructive impact of toxic Tribalism.
Tribalism is thinking of people, first and foremost, as members of groups rather than individuals. If one thinks of people, first and foremost, as individuals rather than members of groups, that one cannot be a racist, sexist or any type of Marxist.
Disagree on the Marxist part. Racism and sexism are based on the idea that certain groups of people are inherently flawed and need to be controlled/eliminated. Marxism just says ‘If the lower classes owned the means of production, then they would have significantly greater control of their own lives and society would improve.’ It’s not necessarily violent or bad, it’s just a flexible, alternative economic system.

It's pointless to attempt to get rid of tribalism if it's so embedded in our nature, and if our ancestors lived in hunter-gatherer tribes for tens of thousands of years. It's best to try to channel the tribal instinct in the healthiest manner possible, instead, through small communities of friends, camaraderie in sports, etc. I think many of the behaviors we see in gang culture are mis-channeled tribal behaviors (battle over turf / territory, singing (we see all over nature that creatures have territorial songs), learning skills to survive in one's environment form older gang members (in this case, often by crime or drug sale), initiation into manhood, relationships with mentors, etc. All these natural needs are hijacked by unwholesome societal forces in gang culture. Humans are configured as tribal, so best to channel tribal instincts in the most wholesome manner possible.
