Hi Nigel, I was advised that ge mileage of the new cluster can be adjusted to conform with the old one, but not easy to find somebody to do it. I just recorded the old mileage to served as a guide for maintenance schedule purposes
@@mericfx94 on the circuit board of the Instrument Cluster itself. Once you remove the cluster, remover the white plastic cover behind it, there’s only 4 capacitor there that’s 100uf 16v, replace all of it
I had the same problem. With high temperature it worked fine, as soon as temperature started to drop (I am on Aruba so this means below 27 degrees celsius) the cluster was dark. I had a local technician replace the (in my case) 3 capacitors and it works again :). Thank you very much for the information! I drive a 2006 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 3.0 D-4D automatic transmission.
Erico I am from Metro Manila. I decided to buy a new instrument cluster after I found out thru you tube that it is very easy to replace. However you can have it repaired in Angeles, Pampanga. Search in google. Cost is Phl 6,500.00 but you have to bring it there and comeback 2 to 3 days later.
I have a Toyota innova we have the same problem no lights on the cluster meter. I do also notice we encounter the same problem when the weather is cold it's hard and long minutes or even hours for the lights to come back. But if the weather is hot 2 to 5mins it could come back so quick
I dont think it's a cluster issue.because whenever I parked it to direct sunlight for couple of minutes the cluster meter works good. But if in rainy days it doesn't work.It has something to do with its sensors I guess.
The only way to fix this is to treat it like a computers motherboard, I could not find a circuit diagram anywhere online so along with a PC technician we had to fault find and test each component on the motherboard, there are 3 main processors on the board, I have changed the one responsible for part of the power up process and waiting for the other two processors to arrive from China. I am not sure if all the boards use the same components, so I can only suggest that you dismantle the cluster and check the components individually. I have also changed a number of the mane power diodes as a pre caution, once I have completed the repair I will post the results. Fingers crossed it should be ok as there is no other solution other than a new cluster which is over US$1000 new.
@Leorandus Manurung I just received the two IC,s that I think are causing the problem one is a voltage regulator, the technician is going to install them shortly. It's kinda above my technical skill.
@Leorandus Manurung no it is only the cluster and the trip clocks, however if you have a factory head unit then it may affect it as well, as that part of the dashboard is also controlled by one of the processors on the main instrument cluster
@Leorandus Manurungyes I use the suv everyday I just make sure to keep refueling every 3 days, if your taking along trip just full the tank and check your oil and coolant as these are the two main gauges on the cluster. Everything else should be ok. And stay within the speed limit :)
@@nigelcollins4272 I am in a similar position like you are/were . Everything you mentioned about the cluster is what has happened to my Toyota Fortuner . I don't have the solution, it has got worse has the outside temperature gets cooler. It looks like a component is gradually breaking down and is caused due to temperature. I'm still trying to diagnose this problem before it fails completely.
