And that's from someone who grew up and lived in the Bronx, but i used to visit my homies in Annapolis and we would hit the Go-Go' s in Anne Arundel , Prince George's county and D.C..... I was 21- 24 yrs old and some of the best time of my life. I lost my mind when i first saw Junkyard playing on white buckets in Annapolis.

Additionally...i missed this show by a few weeks, i was out in St Louis living my MJordan fantasies playing college ball. When i got home for xmas break (for only 5 days due to our playing schedule), i learned of this show, and saw a piece of the video tape and couldn't have been more disappointed. I bought the cassette tape and took it back to school with me. The first time i played it in full was during a solo snow-storm workout at our arena. i was friends with the arena staff so they were kind enough to play it for me over the PA system at full volume while i worked out alone on the court. when the "Testing 1-2-3, In the place to be HIT-IT!" part came up across, hearing that crazy crowd chant what we in DC have chanted for years in the smaller clubs weekly, i had to stop my workout, and i literally teared up at mid-court and instantly became homesick. THAT is how much i love go-go music yall.
When you're from here, it's in your blood man! I too missed this show for being out of town, but as soon as I hit the area, I copped the VHS tape and was blown away, mad that I'd missed it. LOL
After Benny left Funk used to crank the 'Whip It' down the Georgia Ave Comm Ctr ...everybody had on Sergio Techini sweatsuits and stop watches around their necks. Had the Britches Outdoor parkas with the reflectors on them or the Sierra Design Gore-Tex Parkas from out Cavaliers Men shop Iverson Mall.

My mom is from NJ and was very pregnant with me before she went to Howard… my grandparents didn’t play that shit. They told her she was having me, bringing me home then taking her ass back to school. 😂 💪🏽💯 #AVillage !she LOVES GoGo and always has. I remember as a kid cleaning up on the weekends would turn into dance battles between the whole house. I’ll never forget; our new neighbors of maybe two weeks or so, (we lived there for years prior) told the landlord my father was a DJ and he makes music with him and his friends 24/7 lmaoooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 it’s been years since I heard this; I just remembered the “did ya know know know it’s a show show go to the GoGo “ I called her and sang it she cut me off mid sentence and said “Essence @ the capital in ‘87 !” This brings back so many good memories man. I remember when her tapes would look like they were wearing down and she’d record them. She still has almost 100 tapes of throwback GoGo from the 80’s-early 90’s. My son kept saying, “I don’t know what this is, but I like the bongos!” His little ass been asking me to play this in the mornings on the way to school since last week 😂 😂 😂 he’s only 9 but he loves this too. Man, Chocolate City- I LOVE YALL !!! ❤❤❤ the memories man, good good times. I downloaded this and gave it to my mom on CD 💿 she been KILLING this joint ever since !
