The Light Horse Regiment(s) should be reraised and constructed as light armor or mechanized infantry. Keep the tradition and pride alive.
There are LH Regiments in the Army. One in the regular Army, the 2nd/14th LHR based in Brisbane, as well as three in the reserves. They use various armoured vehicles and also act as mechanized infantry, just as you mentioned.

There were historically two sovereign Jewish states that existed called Israel (the 10 tribes from Jacob that formed the Northern Kingdom) and the southern Kingdom of Judea ( tribes of Judah and Benjamin with Jerusalem being the capital). Rome destroyed Jerusalem in 70ad and progressively removed the majority of Jews out of Israel and Judah and sold them Into slavery throuout Europe. To add Insult to injury, the Romans renamed the newly vacated region to Palestina..... The Latin name for the people called the Philistines, who were the Jewish peoples bitter enemies in the bible. Those philistines were not Arabs..... And palestine was never a sovereign state.... The Jews were promised that land by God in the bible, and much more.

We see a partial fulfilment of the above prophecy that God would bring the Jews back from the many places they were scattered into their land, and would no more be two nations, but one Jewish nation.... Israel. The full prophetic fulfilment will be when Jesus Christ returns, and the Jews recognise their messiah, and receive him is their sovereign eternal King!

Palestine is Israel fool...and in 1922 under the Belfour Agreement ...it was changed back to its original name to Israel. There were jews who fought at beersheeba..but no Arabs??? The name palestine was not reinvented until 1964 by Jordan as the name given to a small block of land stolen and occupied by Jordan during their cowardly attack on Israel in 48. Jordan didnt want the people it told to leave Israel...and it gave that piece of land to the outcasts of Israel and called it Palestine.
