- First time in London! Again, apologies for the spots where it focuses out, there were a ton of scratches on the window and I was battling to keep it focused outside, ha. Also, I had to cut out the taxi back to gate part because the window fogged up after landing and there was no hope to see outside. But I am pretty happy with the overall video, leave a like if you enjoyed too! :)

That aircraft is filthy. It says a lot about the regular maintenance program and airline has no pride.
I mean... I suppose? Do you have experience in maintenance or have some insight? I'm gonna study up on this a bit and learn more why it might be this severe, but these planes are getting older, this one is 26 years old right now!! @@lesivs
If you look up G-VIIH on youtube, there's actually a decent amount of videos on this specific plane, you can see it is definitely not the same, so it gets cleaned but to do a big deep clean it's expensive and time consuming of course, so its just not probably too frequent.@@lesivs

London landings never get old, especially with the aerial view of the greenery, the main parts of the city, the Thames, London's suburbia, and more. Still miss the usual presence of the BA 747s at Heathrow. Nice video!

The oily residue on the wing gives the aircraft character, it’s probably hydraulic fluid spillage from a servicing procedure and with the wind blasting over the surface it’s spread the fluid which for some reason has adhered to the surface

What a grubby plane. I'd hope BA could afford the few quid to put a pressure hose over it. I've had similar problems with the autofocus out of old SAS 737 aircraft with filthy windows.
Pressure hose?….they use special cleaning agents on them, it’s not a big deal it’s a working aircraft, not some flying yacht
At least they got rid of that bloody awful’Landau’ livery they had in the 90’s , horrible peal white, precious looking rubbish,I bet a woman was behind that
The’Negus’ livery of the 70’s and 80’s was much better, the airline liveries are nowhere near as good as they used to be, Aer Lingus is an example, they had a great livery in the 70’s and 80’s, now they have some poncey looking computery looking thing, there’s a host of other airlines that have screwed up their great liveries, Saudia used to be great and now look at what they’ve gone and done!!!

I flew G-VIIH at the end of 2023 from Cincinnati to Heathrow. Same Aircraft and route and same filthy wings. Hope they have been washed since.

Yes indeed, the flight controls on the a/c were very dirty alas, I wonder if passengers were put off by them. Not a good advertisement for BA.

Yes it was! The service was good they were very nice! Despite the outside look it was very nicely maintained inside lol.

@@kevin19358 I'm not too sure, I was using non-rev tickets which means I only paid for the international travelling taxes and fees and not the ticket, I think they would have been maybe $2000 ish?

I'd say this is a purely visual problem, the plane is most likely totally safe. As someone else said, it gives it some extra character, and I sure do agree.
That dirt is probaly just hydraulic fluid aswell, so it's no mud or something we're dealing with.
I do agree though that the window can be cleaner. Why do airlines not quickly clean the inside of the windows before every flight? I don't know.
The cabin should be clean, but those wings, man I love how they look.

No safety concern but a strange feeling for passengers about the airline quality. It c'd a little bit brake the air flow and cause light vibrations. Situation to avoid anyway

The..‘state’..of the plane? It’s in good working order, it’s a working aircraft, the smudging is probably a sign of the aircraft actually having been attended to recently maybe, checking fluids etc
