Gosh, my heart goes out to you guys. I cried when your mom cried. I completely know the feeling. In 2005 Hurricane Rita hit my home town and my neighborhood was unrecognizable when we returned. So much lost, just takes your breath away. Prayers for you guys and I hope that you guys can begin to heal and rebuild soon and create more beautiful memories. 🙏❤️🤗

We too have been going to Sanibel for 30 years plus. We absolutely cried to hear of this storm. We were there in August before the storm. So sad. We too will be back. We will give the island time to heal.

I'm glad your family is fine. Everything else could be replaced. It's terrible the destruction that this hurricane did. I have been in a category 5 hurricane, and what I see is so much worse than hurricane Andrew. So many people lost their lives not knowing that that hurricane was going to hit them. Thank you so much for keeping us informed.

    • @TinyCabinLife
      @TinyCabinLife  2 роки тому +4

Yes absolutely. I think that is what was so devastating as well is that people really didn’t know that it was going to hit or be this bad.

My heart knows the pain and anguish keeping ya'll in my Prayers. I'm from Joplin Missouri and we were destroyed May 22nd of 2011 from a EF-5 tornado. Our community came together with tons of volunteers from across America to get us up and running. What I'm saying is keep the faith & your heads up because beauty will come from the rubble.
I pray blessings over you and yours, and whatever you do, do it with your whole heart ❤

Jack- Super job capturing the immensity of this disaster! I'm a Minnesota native with one foot at home and one in Southwest Florida. I chose a golf course over the beach, but absolutely love Sanibel and Captiva. You and your family made this so personal; such an emotional time. I'm sharing the video with my Florida friends; I know they'll appreciate it. Say hi to your Dad. I worked with him when he was part of Sen. Coleman's staff. Hang in there!

Seeing this utter devastation seeing this beautiful island flattened is heartbreaking. The people, the eco system, wildlife etc the loss must immeasurable.Where and how do you even start to rebuild? Sanibel has a special place in our hearts. I definitely got the 'Sanibel Stoop' collecting shells and sand dollars, which still take pride of place in my conservatory, and make a fab talking point. I am so sorry for the destruction of Hurricane Ian. I was on Sanibel in March while visiting my nieces who work on the island. We had dinner together & my husband & I stayed at a small inn on the beach. We had a wonderful time and have great memories from that evening with our family. Fortunately my nieces are ok, but is has been very, very stressful. So many things have changed so quickly. It is important to show the true state of the island and I loved how you inserted the before pics to show the difference. Finding the seahorse was so cool. You have a wonderful family & I know you will all work together to rebuild. 💛 #sanibelstrong

My grandparents retired to FL in the 60's. They chose Port Charlotte over Sanibel because the island had no golf course. Both sides of my family located to Naples, Bonita Springs, and Ft Myers, close to the causeway.
Sanibel and Captiva were my go to places. I love them. Yes, your Dad's response to your tiny cabin was hilarious.
Thank you for sharing a brief view of the hit to Sanibel. Can't believe they repaired the causeway so fast. Big question : Captiva is further out in the water. No one is talking about it.
Loved sunset walks in March on that beach. Did Captiva get hit equally hard? Great channel. Thank you.

So impact ful.... The finding of the seahorse & 🦎 restores hope, but the memories I can say just from observations is so gut wrenching to see.. I'm really quite surprised though that they allowed you access to the condo with the conditions etc.....I hope all is well structurally sound for to consider to rebuild which was once part of the dreams and so many treasurable memories this place holds for you and your family...I had to cry w/you, prayers for you & yours beyond just this moment but for the weeks ahead..... It's so hard especially with everything that it holds dear to you all....praying for the courage for everyone to have the strength to stay strong during this process.....only the greatest wishes for all at this moment in time....peace Always...glad you are safe......

I am a first time viewer to your channel and I just have to say the tiny cabin is cool and tiny home living is a great solution for these barrier islands. You can pack everything up you own, hitch up your home, and head to safety. Minimal cleanup on your property if there is nothing left behind and it saves so much debris from entering the ecosystem. I saw a whole house the size of a double wide trailer in Estero Bay on the news.

Shocking video of the island I visited 20 years ago. Your reply to my last comment warned me of the devastating damage Ian had done but I was not expecting it to be on this scale. Will Sanibel ever recover? My Grandparents would visit Sanibel in the 1970s which was really unusual being from the UK this gave me the reason to visit. I still remember the Sanibel T-Shirts they would bring back with prints of shells on the front. I am more determined to return now but fear the Island may never get back on its feet properly. On a positive note your videos are great to watch keep up the good work. D.Tattersall . Scarborough UK.

It’s very shocking. So crazy to see what a mere few hours of wind and storm surge can do to completely change a place. Thanks so much for watching.

No one just bounces back but I hope the recovery for all affected is starting. And very weird to see the big red dot logo of Santa Cruz Skateboard clothes! This is an insane level of devastation. I remember vacationing here lots of times when I was young, it was a very lush and pretty place before Hurricane Ian. It's really mind boggling how devastated it still is a month after the storm. It doesn't even look like Sanibel anymore, more like Mariupol or some bombed out city in Ukraine.

Thank you for the video. I am so sorry for your family's loss of their condo. I live in NE FL and I get queasy every time a hurricane starts up and looks like it's going to hit the US. I have an incredible dislike for the storms. I know there is a purpose for them (not sure what it is), and that when people are involved, there are the 'hazards of geography.' Still, we all rally together and get through the destruction and smartly carry on.
Thank you again. Peace and blessings to you all. Take care and stay safe! 😊💖🙏
