  • PLEASE NOTE: This is not a ‘tech’ channel, but simply a show-and-tell. It is not designed to give advice and support on vacuum tube amplifiers, but to show what I get up to each week in the workshop.
I deliberately keep tech talk to a minimum, or at least to a point where it’s understandable to the casual viewer. There are other channels more suited to that level of detail.
I do not do reviews, either paid or unpaid. My opinions are entirely my own and do not represent those of others.
All comments are welcome but those deemed unhelpful, rude, inappropriate, or anything else will be reviewed and possibly censored.

Enjoyed the vid, subscribed! Working on a few silver face amps myself at the moment, they seem to get the most varied tech work while the BF stuff is more spared from hackery. Always fun!

In the US those "cut" washers that Fender used are known as "dress" washers. I have had some go missing on my various silverface amps, and you can buy the genuine Fender replacements, but they are quite expensive for what they are. I have found nearly identical replacements at the big-box home improvement stores (Home Depot, Lowes).

RIFT AMPS, you mention there are 3 different ways to ground the Presence Control, 1.) ground to preamp rail, 2.) ground to power amp rail, 3.) ground to power supply earth ground. Some Techs will LIFT the preamp ground so that the preamp ground and power amp ground are NOT connected to reduce noise. Most amplifiers the preamp ground + power amp ground are NOT connected to the amplifiers power supply earth ground, any reasons why?

Ha, I know where this amp was sold from. Snakey Jakes (Pete - no longer with us), had his shop on Eddleston Rd, Crewe,(now long gone too). Bought lots of gear from there...........after a bit of haggling !!

You just don’t get shop names like that anymore! I’d have bought loadsa gear from Snakey Jake’s if I had the chance 👌
