  • This short film play is baesd on one of the practice that is prevalent in Far-Western province (Sudurpashchim) and Karnali province mainly in Achham, Bajura, Jajarkot, Doti, Dadeldhura and other hilly districts of Nepal known as " Chhaupadi".
Literally,Chhau means menstruation and padi means female especially people's notion is to isolate the girls and women for the cause of their menarche (Starting of mensuration) till last menstruation and even during pregnancy.
These females are kept in a specially made animal shed/ mud hut(Chhaugoth) for 5-7 days. During this period their family members beleive that those female are impure, not allowed for household activities, prohibited to see the face of male family member and even they are not allowed to have nutritious food like milk.
Despite of hustle and bustle of social organizations,Government of Nepal and international efforts, the attitude, belief of people are still the same.
The supreme court of Nepal has ordered to make a law against this practice on 2062/01/19 B.S.The Government of Nepal had declared this practice as "Evil Custom" on 2063/01/26 B.S.
However the main reason behind it's prevalence is illiteracy and false beliefs for the continuation as social value and tradition.
So the utmost concern should be focusing the female of
those society who are still victims of inhumane practice.
