- This next video from the Mokuhankan printmaking workshop in Tokyo is all about carving. Dave creates the block set that will be used to make the August prints in this year's subscription series: Embrace the Delight!
Bonus content includes a trip to his Ome home/workshop, glimpses of the Ninja who work/play across the street from the Asakusa shop, a (rare) segment on inlaying boxwood into a cherry block, and a selection of clips from recent live streams.
Update: the prints are now finished, and can be seen on their subscription page: mokuhankan.com/subscriptions/...

woooooooooo
In the next video, when will you upload it to your friends' channel when they want to see you?
21:38 Dave just keeps working as a child savagely beats a grown man in the middle of the streets.
I caught a Dave Bull upload within 5 minutes! Feel like I'm sat in the front row 😎
I got sub 10 😎
You should come hang out with us on twitch, that's like being in the shop with him!
@@Spiderbeeen I’m already a regular lurker on twitch 😁
@@Spiderbeeen I don't normally use Twitch but I might have to now! One of these days I'll try to make a woodblock print but for now I could listen to Dave talk about the subject for hours
@@Spiderbeeen it really is
Just watching Dave carve is so meditative. It's good to relax to.
I enjoy it too
soft-spoken unintentional ASMR is what you're experiencing. he's basically Bob Ross of woodblock printing.
21:36 🤣 so relaxing
I hate getting nostalgic, but I gotta say, seeing Dave work out of his own house at the 44:00 mark really makes me miss the old vids from 2013-2014 when he had the old Seseragi Studio. It was so peaceful seeing him work on the very first Jed Henry Ukiyo-e Heroes prints with just the sounds of rain, or running water, or birds chirping in the background. Good times.
Love those videos and I 100% agree with you.

He mentioned you as a favorite UA-camr.
@@seseragistudio He did mention your channel when he said he enjoys watching handcraft videos. He said he likes the sound of carving and your voice and finds them both very soothing.
저도 오늘부터 이 영상 보면서 잘거에요🥰
Thank you for visiting (along with your fans ...) Hopefully, not _just_ for sleeping! 😄
@@seseragistudio son sukku brought me here :) he is one of hot actors in korea he said that he loves watching your video♡ i'll enjoy it thanks
There's soo much work that goes into the print making it's insane. You are doing great work and I'm glad there are still people like you keeping tradition alive wherever they are.
i love dave's incredible humility, humour and dedic-...
Wait a minute. Listen, this psyche is not big enough for two metaphysical seekers.

손석구(제 남편)가 애청하는 채널이라 해서 찾아왔습니다🥰
I'm a big fan of these condensed streams. The added voiceovers are phenomenal too. I'd love more of these types of videos!
David is back and everything is alright with the world again 😊
I like when Dave says, "lets get to work" or "get to it". I always end up saying, "はい" at the screen.
OMG the faces and the thin crisscrossing lines overlaying the key block - I hope to eventually reach that level of control while carving. You're my carving hero!
The Return of the King! Take your time Dave, you can't rush perfection :)
Dave, you've come a long way. You never disappoint us. Your work is always beautiful. You will always be supported by us. You are loved. Peace be with you.
It's so cool that you make these videos, it's something I would never think about and to see it myself in such detailed while explained is really interesting. Thank you
"Lightly skating across the junction and plunging deeper only when it is safe to do so" 😂 Yes Dave!
I have absolutely no idea why this popped up in my recommendations, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Definitely subscribing to enjoy a peaceful hour working alongside someone so pleasant and skilled ❤️❤️❤️
This is a GREAT format that may be slightly less work on your end to put out as new content but is really entertaining and something I’d love to see more of, I can’t make most of the streams so getting the highlights and explanations like this is great

Sonsukku is a famous actor in Korea and his fans came to see your video on UA-cam
It’s like a Xmas day when a new Dave Bull video turns up. Get in!
I'll never cease to be amazed. Thank you, David for sharing your craft. Looking forward to your next 'Choice' video.
Thanks for finding the time and energy to make these videos. Much appreciated, David!
Honestly Dave.... most of us just love your voice, explanations, and watching you carve :)... love it.

My favorite actor led me to here. And I probably know why he say like that. Your voice makes me feel like i'm comfortable. How awesome would it be to know him for my recommendation! Please remember Sonsukku!

This is so wonderful, it's like an archive of a part of human history.
Good to see you back Dave, and good to hear that sonorous voice of yours too!
It's always a pleasure to watch your videos dave, thanks for the work.
I really admire how passionate you are about your work Mr. Bull, it is always very pleasant to see you work in your videos.
손석구씨 말대로 소리가 좋군용...
I watch all the content you put out here on the channel and I appreciate the variety! But I must say, there’s nothing like just watching you work. I think I can safely speak on behalf of everyone here that these kinds of videos are really insightful, educational, and - most importantly - entertaining! And we would welcome more just like this! Thanks for sharing Dave!
The Bob Ross of wood carving. relaxing just watching and hearing him talk about his craft. yet, we never learn enough
Great to see you again David. Your videos got me interested in woodblock prints from Mexico. There is a growing culture and shops dedicated to woodblockprint, xilografía. Fraternal hug David.
Didn't know what to expect going into this video but it was a very pleasant surprise!
I am here because Korean actor, Sonsukku said that he enjoyed this video.
Really? Where did he say this?
@@neapanther497Son Sukku did a ASMR Calligraphy with W Korea where he said he enjoys David Bull's video and he likes the sound of his wood carving.

Mr. Bull, you have taken something I previously knew nothing about that was not on my radar and made it fascinating to me. Your relentless attention to detail at every stage has me in awe. A deep bow. You are indeed a craftsman, sir!
잠들기 전에 왔습니다.
Your presentation has been a joy for me to experience. I am so glad to see the growth you've been experiencing after all this time, and I believe I speak for most of your fans when I say I wouldn't ask you to change anything. Your channel is a beacon of stability in a sea of change, and I wish you nothing but the best for the years to come. Thankyou for sharing your passion and experience with us!
Since starting my new job in January I haven't been able to follow your streams well anymore, so this video really takes me back. Great to see you still doing well!
I enjoyed the behind the scene sections!
As always, great work Dave, keep it up!
Always a pleasure to observe such passion and skill. You're an inspiration to me. Again, always a pleasure 😊
Thanks as always for the great video, Dave! I got an unintentional callout there in the beginning for identifying the boxwood, ha! It's great that you were able to talk about the Twitch stream a lot, too, it'll be interesting whether we get a lot more people dropping by or not. Guess we'll find out in about an hour... see you soon, again, thanks so much for all your hard work!
I've just now edited the auto-generated caption file to get your handle-name properly spelled!
We’ve missed you! It’s my dream to someday visit Japan and your videos bring me so much comfort hearing your stories, the history of Japan, seeing your work space ect it’s so inspiring and charming. Please keep making videos Dave! :D one of my favourites is your collection of prints of the old Tokkaido road.. Love seeing those old prints and hearing their history!
I'm here cause of Son Sukku...
Keep going just as it is. I love this woodwork. So carefull, so delicate… a world of patience. I am glad you are so dedicated preserving such an ancient technique!
Thanks for the update! But remember! Your UA-cam audience is not your Twitch audience. 10-15 minute videos at a higher frequency are perfect for us!
Good to see you still @work and posting videos, watched much episodes some years ago. Just started watching it again. Good videos, love the story's behind each piece of art, and the passion you are talking about the art of block printing...😁👍🏽
Thanks for all your hard work, Dave! Your channel is a gem!
This guy is basically Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers combined.
Thanks for the time and effort for making this video, I love listening to you talk and carve.
I love watching these videos. Very intresting and informative on the making of Japanese Woodblocks. Keep these amazing videos coming.
Just got my Japan Journey #4, one of my favorites to date! I liked this video format too!
These are always such a pleasure
Dave, I could watch you work forever. You have such a talent, such a gift, and your explanations are demeanor are just plain wonderful. Thanks for everything you do!
Wow thanks for sharing this type of content. I realy enjoy and love your love for your work. It's such a wonderful feeling to see, that some people not only like or love their jobs, they live it. I wish I had the money to afford a trip to your studio and see it in real life. Keep on working.

Beautiful work, such a pleasure to see your skills on display and see the process. A soothing watch, a balm in these crazy times
Thank you for another wonderful video, Dave. Whenever I see one of your videos in my feed, I have to set aside time to watch the entire thing uninterrupted from start to finish and I'm never disappointed.
That makes me incredibly happy to watch. So so happy!
David, you're a Yorkshire legend. Love your work X
This was sooo much fun! Please make more like this!
Another great video Dave! Thanks for being you!
This is just beautiful to watch. It feels so wonderful and personal to watch someone craft something so diligently by hand, thank you for sharing with us!

This kind of format is really cool, getting an insight into what’s going on in the other parts of the business with some solid carving alongside enjoyed it a lot.
Been waiting a long time for this!
Thanks Dave, what a pleasure to watch!
I’m gonna be honest, the thing I was the most blown away by was the 7-11 lunch. I’m so jealous
Excellent video, Dave.
Excellent video! Having watched the streams for this set, it's neat seeing some of the work happening on it behind the scenes when the streaming cameras are off.
Hope your days are going well! Always a delight to see your videos in case the thousands haven’t told ya, dontcha know!
That was absolutely mesmerising!
Love it! Thank You Dave!
Always worth the wait! Nice video

Thank you for another fantastic video!
So happy to see more from you
On the odd blue moon, detoxing from a hectic life with Dave's soothing content is really very nice.
I’m so impressed many people are watching your video already regardless it took days and months from previous video. It’s definitely because of the quality, dedication and interesting contents of yours which it’s difficult to mimic by us lol
But the video of part of talk between you and me will be released on our UA-cam channel at next Saturday. Hope it’ll catch Ukiyo-e fans more.
Happy Birthday Dave! 🥳🎉🎂
If I were a younger man I wish I could apprentice under you. Your fine detail work around the eyelashes and facial features towards the end of the video is stunning.
Love your content. You've got it all right!
Thanks mate! Love your work from Australia
Awesome Glad to see you again 😀
As always an amazing work 👍
So glad this video popped up. I watch this channel because I find David charming. I could probably watch him do anything and be entertained. :o)
" [...] although, of course, that doesn't extend to the UA-cam algorithm [...]."
You must be doing something okay, or making the algorithm like you in some way, because I somehow stumbled upon you yesterday thanks to UA-cam recommendations and a curious click. UA-cam steered me right, yesterday...! :o
This is absolutely lovely to watch. Thanks for sharing your artistry with the world. The intermittent ninja attacks are really funny, and are kind of a joyful break from the otherwise peaceful, meditative work. This video was wonderfully put together!
As an ex-artist, it's really satisfying to watch someone with such mastery over their craft create art like you are. I've always wanted to look more deeply into printmaking, but never really did beyond a basic overview in highschool I was lucky enough to have, where we made iterative, 3-color prints with a thin square of rubber, so I'm glad you're sharing your work so I can live vicariously through you, if only for ~1 hr. I don't know you/your channel/your studio, but I have a lot of respect for the work it looks like you and your team are doing - bravo!
glad to see you uploading again keep up the content
This man is such a legend, love his vibes.
I love this channel....makes my day
