You're such a great storyteller! It was fun to get to vicariously experience your trip and the thrill of your find. I'm glad you were able to turn a bad day into a good one!
Congratulations on your fine haul Dan! Finding that Turtles news van was just what your heart and soul needed. Very happy for you Dan, thanks for sharing. Best of luck with your life and making videos, i will be watching and commenting when i can. Hugs! :)
I love the whole concept of the Channel 6 News Van. It looks like it's built for combat, but it's actually built for getting scoops. It's like Bern went over the deep end and decided "our vans need to have cameras coming out the wazoo! April, I want you out on a moped with your camera mounted on the steering! Don't look at me like I'm crazy!!!"
Just in case I know many people probably know this and do this but on occasion I find toys with original stickers that are kind of hanging out and falling out just like that news van so what I usually do is take a q-tip with a little bit of Elmer's glue and smear it on the paper and then lightly just hold it back so I can re stick on the toy and they will not fall out at all so you might want to do that with that front bumper license plate sticker and maybe any other us hanging out on the edges believe me it works perfectly
After hearing the opening question in this video, all I can say is, I definitely relate! Many a day has gone by where I instinctively knew from the get-go it would be a shitty day,, and I was right. That said, I found a lot of cool vintage toys at antique stores, especially a lot of old die-cast cars from Lesney, Matchbox, Hot Wheels, Corgi, Dinky, Ertl, Majorette, Maisto, etc. I've built up quite a sizeable collection so far.
Awesome Find buddy. I had a similar experience going to an antique store and found the 1983 Ewok village complete with original packaging for 40 bucks. I was very happy that day.
Every once in awhile a video comes along that actually teaches me something, and this was one of them. I actually have that Channel 6 news van stored away with my old Turtles toys, never knew it was rare or had any real value. Not sure if I will try to sell it, but now I gotta go through all of those old toys and see what else I've got, thanks Pixel Dan.
It's so crazy because I had the news van as a kid and all the toon reporters. Unfortunately my toys were lost in time. Definitely something I intend to pick up again though. Very cool find.
Awesome to hear you mention the Kane County Toy Show. So many great memories of that from when I was in college. Got my first Predaking from that show from a cool guy for something like $80 back in 2006.
Oh nice! I will also watch vloggers going through the Disney Parks, something about seeing it but not having to deal with the crowds is nice. My favorite would have to be Justin Scarred
I don't know what it is but I really enjoy seeing toy haul videos. Maybe it's just seeing what's possible? Learning about new stuff? Whatever the case, I've seen enough of these that I can say for certain that envy isn't my sin
I know those days. I need to find an Antique store to check out now. Great perker upper score for sure on the news van. I had a laugh and actually could hear April's voice when came out on the mini vehicle "I'm okay guys!"
I remember going to my Grandmas and watching that Magic Kingdom video! It was so cool! I still whistle that tune when they show Frontier Land. It stuck with me. You can also find them both on UA-cam now. Thanks for sharing & great finds!
I usually have my route of where to go to buy my used Holy Grails.. I love going to swapmeets, you just never know what you can expect. The same with antique stores or even garage sales.
Good for you for taking a mental health day (or half-day) Dan! We should all do that from time to time when circumstances allow. I know part of the reason I collect is for the mental health benefits it brings me, collecting allows me to relax and focus sometimes.
Pixel dan 1 time and found a motu monstroid and they go for about $160 bucks on eBay and I got mine at a flea market for $10 bucks I got a really good deal on it
Really pleased for you Dan! I had one of those moments recently when I managed to complete my Eternia Playset by getting the battle tram complete for £10 at a local fair. Plus got a Hunter Knight custom movie he-man (v2.0) that I’d been looking for for ages on eBay that evening.
Awesome finds Dan. I could be wrong but I think the van was a Kaybee toys exclusive. love your look at my stuff videos. You were definitely meant to find that van that day :)
wow after watching this i had to go down to my mothers house and look in her basement for the news van because i vagely remember my parents getting me it for my birthday years back even tho i was 14 at the time lol and as i suspected it was there and funny thing i never opened it so it is mint in the box sealed so thanks for the reminder
Very true. Maybe you had a bad day at work so you would go to that store on that particular day to find that 'white whale' item. Fate works in mysterious ways. Or something like that. :)
It's funny. Yesterday (5/22/19) I was watching this video, and the video inspired me so much I went to a couple of antique stores. I live in Clinton, TN, one of the best antique marketplaces in The United States. Anyway, at the first antique store I found Thor #351 I needed to add to my Walter Simonson Thor Marvel comics run, and I also found Warlock and the Infinity Watch #1. I paid $5 for both. Then afterwards i went to a Walmart and found the new Marvel Legends Caliban BAF wave Gambit. I was so psyched. Thank you Dan for the inspiration to get me out of the house. Thank you.
Fellow 1982 baby here! I love anything to with popular culture from that era especially movies, tv shows, video games, and comic books. I am hoping to complete my collection of vintage Kenner toys Real Ghostbusters action figures this summer. I just need Ray Stantz and Louis Tulley from the Slimed Heroes line and Peter Venkman from the Ecto Glow heroes line mint on card. As a fellow Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, I had no idea that the Channel Six News van was such a collectors item today. Its great that you were able to find it, I know I get just as excited whenever I find a holy grail piece for my collection. Speaking of the character of Scratch, did you know that he is a boss character in the TMNT: Radical Rescue video game for Gameboy?
That is so awesome! I love how you purchased the van from the original owner. Great story! Plus, I didn’t even know you were a Disney nut! Those VHS tapes are so cool! I’m a Disneyland nerd myself. Terrific video as always, Dan!
Nice find, Dan! Prices like that are the reason vintage toy collecting is a rabbit hole I wish not to crawl into, lol! Bad enough I'm collecting video games as it is, haha...
I've managed to find some good stuff in Charity Shop's and Antique Store's like I found some 2002 Masters of The Universe figures and even some more recent stuff like a few tmnt 2012 figures.
I remember a recent toy hunting miracle moment. It was when Skylanders imaginators were still around they actually produced chase varients for some of their figures. one in particular was one of my favorite character from the game. I thought I would never have it. But oneday My sister needed some supplies for her pet fish so we drove to petsmart and nextdoor was a Target. I figured since I was there I would check things out and to my suprise when I walked all the way in the back and looked at the section there it was, staring right into me. I actually gasped out loud and looked around me like I thought it was a dream or some illusion. I think even an employee walked by and gave me an odd look, But I didn't care lol, I never bought something so fast- So yeah, That's the story on how I got Rock Candy Pain Yatta
That figure with the mohawk, not sure, but that would be an awesome base figure to make into a custom "Wez" from Mad Max 2. The actual figure?, possibly a red indian from a wild west toyline?
I think its pretty cool that you managed to turn a bad day into a great day like that. I'm gonna try it myself, next time I'm feeling under the weather
when ever i go to a antique store and i find stuff that i think is priced to high i negotiate on the price an the store i go to is always willing to negotiate
Awesome Dan! Great vid, feeling very similar lately and it was nice hearing your words. Congrats on a great haul, the universe came through. Cheers to more man!
This was like the Technodrome Scout vehicle and krang's small android body. In 1993 the kids had started gravitating towards power rangers and tmnt wasn't selling like it had been.
I got the TMNT news van for my birthday one year when my mom took me to Toys R' Us and let me pick out a present. Like so many of your videos, this one brought back a great memory. Also, as a fellow Central Illinoisan, I'd love to know where you're picking some of this stuff up.
You're such a great storyteller! It was fun to get to vicariously experience your trip and the thrill of your find. I'm glad you were able to turn a bad day into a good one!
I have fond memories of those comics. Your son will love them!
My toys always make my day better! Look but dont touch is my motto!
Oh I touch... I touch all the things... ALL. THE. THINGS.
Lol THANKYOU for the video. I have one of those vans complete in my basement. Had no idea it was worth anything
Glad you had a good day toy hunting, I suffer with anxiety and depression it's good to treat yourself make you feel better 😊
you should do a toy guide on He-man
Hmmmmm ;-)
I am from the future and, whoa boy, you are in for a treat...
Oh wow. I hope my news van is still in a box somewhere.
24-7 364 and a half anxiety filled and 12 hours of coolness.
Congratulations on your fine haul Dan! Finding that Turtles news van was just what your heart and soul needed. Very happy for you Dan, thanks for sharing. Best of luck with your life and making videos, i will be watching and commenting when i can. Hugs! :)

Thanks for the advice! I definitely plan to do something like this to keep these stickers from peeling all the way off.

I had that toy growing up because i couldnt find any turtle van when i was a kid. Wish i still had it.
Playmates toys reissued the Turtle Van in 2013, if you still want one.
Awesome Find buddy. I had a similar experience going to an antique store and found the 1983 Ewok village complete with original packaging for 40 bucks. I was very happy that day.

I said to my wife it’s time to look at my stuff and got a slap lol
It's so crazy because I had the news van as a kid and all the toon reporters. Unfortunately my toys were lost in time. Definitely something I intend to pick up again though. Very cool find.
Awesome to hear you mention the Kane County Toy Show. So many great memories of that from when I was in college. Got my first Predaking from that show from a cool guy for something like $80 back in 2006.
I have several videos here about that show and my hauls form it! I love it!
Ooooh! Gotta check those out. Toy shows are something i really miss about the US.
I love the fact that a news van drives around town with a TMNT sticker on its side. Very discret and reminiscient to their work....
That WTMNT van was awesome I had one with a door that opened with a like a pizza oven sticker or something in it.
..that news van is rare and for years tried to get it on ebay but its really expensive.
Oh nice! I will also watch vloggers going through the Disney Parks, something about seeing it but not having to deal with the crowds is nice. My favorite would have to be Justin Scarred
I've seen a few of his videos!
I don't know what it is but I really enjoy seeing toy haul videos. Maybe it's just seeing what's possible? Learning about new stuff? Whatever the case, I've seen enough of these that I can say for certain that envy isn't my sin

Congrats on the van, Dan!
I see it made you happy. Sometimes the universe helps when you least expect it. Great find!
Oh man! I had the Channel 6 Newsvan but sold it at a yard sale when I was a kid. I do still have the green April at least! Good going, Dan!
Good for you for taking a mental health day (or half-day) Dan! We should all do that from time to time when circumstances allow. I know part of the reason I collect is for the mental health benefits it brings me, collecting allows me to relax and focus sometimes.
Great story and great haul, Dan! Congrats!
Have to say that this is my favourite video you have done - really stripped back and less slick but feel like we get the real you!
Thanks man. :-)
Great find, cool orko art on the wall
Pixel dan 1 time and found a motu monstroid and they go for about $160 bucks on eBay and I got mine at a flea market for $10 bucks I got a really good deal on it
Way cool! Thanks for sharing your finds.
I would have never thought I got the original Ninja Turtle van though but that's cool
Awesome find Dan. I remember seeing a pile of these on clearance at Play World in NYC for about 12 bucks back in 1995. Arrgh!
I found one boxed and unopened at comic con for $200 in 2014.
Good on you man I’m glad you scooped that. I wish I could find the cloth undercover turtles!
awesome video Pixel Dan and i'm a Disney and TMNT fan too, you are one of my favourite youtubers
Awesome video, awesome find! And Dan, it's nice to know I'm not the only adult that goes straight to toys when the anxiety gets high. Thank you!
You gotta do what makes you happy. Life is hard and stressful, and there's nothing wrong with taking a little escape every now and then. :-)
Really pleased for you Dan! I had one of those moments recently when I managed to complete my Eternia Playset by getting the battle tram complete for £10 at a local fair. Plus got a Hunter Knight custom movie he-man (v2.0) that I’d been looking for for ages on eBay that evening.
SWEET! I still have a long way to go to complete Eternia. I've been to scared to even attempt it, haha!
Awesome finds Dan. I could be wrong but I think the van was a Kaybee toys exclusive. love your look at my stuff videos. You were definitely meant to find that van that day :)
Thanks man!!
mohawk dude looks like he came straight from Thunderdome!
Agreed, would make a brilliant "Wez" from Mad Max 2
I'm glad you got this Channel 6 van . A purchase well deserved. Congrats Pixel Dan. Keep smiling ☺
You toy sense was tingling that day.
Had this as a kid. Never knew it was rare.
wow after watching this i had to go down to my mothers house and look in her basement for the news van because i vagely remember my parents getting me it for my birthday years back even tho i was 14 at the time lol and as i suspected it was there and funny thing i never opened it so it is mint in the box sealed so thanks for the reminder

Very true. Maybe you had a bad day at work so you would go to that store on that particular day to find that 'white whale' item.

Has anyone told Dan that his mohawk is lopsided?

That's a really good find and a great story to go with it.
That is so awesome! I love how you purchased the van from the original owner. Great story! Plus, I didn’t even know you were a Disney nut! Those VHS tapes are so cool! I’m a Disneyland nerd myself. Terrific video as always, Dan!

What a great find! I'm glad you were able to take a day to take care of yourself with a sweet added bonus to cap it off :)
Happy for you Dan. Congratulations of your find. Hoping to have a similar feeling when my Snake Mountain playset comes in!
I've recently had one of those bad days today and this just made it better!
Happy to hear this has helped your day get better. :-)
Great findings!!
I actually found the green April in a $1 figure bin at a thrift store years ago. I had no idea it was so rare.
Wow, what a great find pixel dan.
when ever i go to a antique store and i find stuff that i think is priced to high i negotiate on the price an the store i go to is always willing to negotiate
That is such a cool story Dan! Thanks for sharing it and congratulations on your white whale... May you find many many more 😊
Does the channel 6 news van have a steering wheel unlike the party wagon?
I love it. AWESOME FIND

I call that good karma, it was just meant to be. Great story, man.
Make sure to digitize those Disneyworld tapes for conservation.
They're already on UA-cam. :)
Dan u getting s7 snake mountain?
This was like the Technodrome Scout vehicle and krang's small android body. In 1993 the kids had started gravitating towards power rangers and tmnt wasn't selling like it had been.
Congrats man!!!! I agree with the white wale term sometimes you just gotta get something for u
i actually didn't know they made this van
Best wishes to Pixel Dan
I got the TMNT news van for my birthday one year when my mom took me to Toys R' Us and let me pick out a present. Like so many of your videos, this one brought back a great memory.
Also, as a fellow Central Illinoisan, I'd love to know where you're picking some of this stuff up.
The Author of the book about Space Toys can't say this Star Wars quote: *"Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen it"*
Well they weren't entirely wrong, they were just predicting the fate of the Prequel trilogy toys two decades too early.
@@lindyxmjh4589 I grew up on those toys along with The Clone Wars toys. Then again just give it 20 years or so and see what happens
@@wiibrockster I don't know, I think some of those toys already had their 20 years, I'm not sure 20 more is going to help.
Love watching your videos 👌
id totally watch some disney vlogs of star wars land
Oooommmmgggg! News Van?!!!! 😵😍Glad some awesome toys could turn your day around! Great find!
