Honestly laughed out loud when you said you bought that domain name. That’s awesome

You spoke about a pharmacy tech working in retail being “a job” and not technically clinical experience, but what about being a Pharmacy Tech in a hospital? Ie: delivering medications to Pyxis stations, delivering patient meds to their respective area, compounding chemo or patient medications in an IV room? Would the fact that I’m not directly interacting with patients automatically discredit it as clinical experience?

I work as a clinical medical assistant in an outpatient setting. I room patients, take their vitals, update their charts, administer tests (peak flow, EKG, Blood Glucose, etc.), and perform and/or assist in minor procedures (Ear irrigations, suture removals, ingrown toenails, etc.).
My question is this; if I work an 8 hour shift, how much of that time do I annotate as “clinical hours”? I will typically be directly interacting with patients for ~1/3 of the time, and waiting for them to check in ~2/3 of the time. That being said, based off of this video I shouldn’t count updating their chart, taking their histories, etc. as clinical. Should I estimate the time that I spend performing explicitly clinical tasks? (EKG, vitals, procedures, etc). (Maybe 1 hr per 8 hr shift)

I don’t think anyone separates out things that particularly. I would count all of your hours as clinical.

Would child life volunteering be considered clinical experience? I would say I spend 2/3 of my time interacting with patients and the other 1/3 doing other tasks.

Would working ad a crisis line counselor be clinical or volunteering? Or both?

Could you kindly advise on committee letters? For example, would a committee letter be beneficial? But the catch is they won't be able to submit the LOR until end of July - Aug 5th. (There is no possibility to expedite the process). Would this hurt my application because the letter will be submitted so late? I plan to apply early June.

I have the same question. Hope Dr. Gray responds. My question ties into with yours because I’m not sure if LORs need to be submitted along with the rest of the app, or if it can be delayed. According to Savvypremed, med schools typically do not read your LORs till after your primary & secondary applications as well as your MCAT scores are sent.

Passing medication to residents is clinical experience? Seems like weak experience to me Dr.Gray and I don't like it but that's my opinion.

What baffles me is that it's takes like 3wks to get CNA certification. CNA can get you nursing home/hospital/home care CLINICAL experience. Buuuuttttt these "pre-meds" think its bELoW tHeM to work direct patient care & God forbid have title of 'nursing' associated with them
