There may be some scratches, finish dings or buckle rash, but nothing that affects the playability or function of the gear. Good condition includes items that are in fine working order, but have significant cosmetic imperfections. A pedal with scratches and dents on its chassis, a guitar with some cracks in the binding, or an old snare drum with some corrosion on the lugs would all be classified as Good. Items with dents, cracks or corrosion qualify as Good as long as they are still playable and fully functional. Fair Fair condition items have various imperfections that impact the function of the item. Fair items aren’t broken, but have some minor functional issues. Examples of items in Fair condition are scratchy pots on an amp, or a playable guitar with dead spots in the upper register. Poor Poor condition items have clear functional problems that will generally require repair. Examples of items in Poor condition include a guitar in which the action is too high to be playable and a keyboard with lots of broken keys.

Yeah, the frets were dug out, but a very basic fret level and recrown would have taken care of it. The nut probably seemed low because of the neck relief-easy fix. I'd probably spend a bit of money on a new rear cover and whatever CTS pots I needed if the others wouldn't clean up. The screws in the bridge can all be replaced for pennies.
Minus a $400 refund, I would have immediately sent the guitar back because is was advertised wrong. I would put that guitar in Fair condition.
For the price paid and the condition listed none of that work should have had the be done
@@TheDistortionPrinciple Notice that I said I'd send it back. A $400 discount makes the guitar worth it.
Now, in all fairness, I can do basic luthier tasks like dealing with sharp fret ends, all the electronics, fret level, custom nuts - basic stuff like that. I have to be able to do all that because I have 26 instruments and I'd go broke if I had to pay someone to maintain them. Learning to refret will be next as I'll just buy some $50 junk off of Marketplace and practice on those. If you are unwilling or unable to do those tasks then you'll always be at the mercy of the $500 fret level guy.
That’s ridiculously awful.

Well you definitely were lied too. The seller should be ashamed for himself for posting a false condition that clearly isn’t true. But honestly for a guitar that is over 30+ years you should expedt the guitar isn’t gonna be in the condition it was when it was released. I own 12 fender hm Strats and most of them are from 88/89 and I got some that were in no so good condition and overtime I put money on some of them to get their problems fixed. Fortunately I have a buddy who is a manager in Guitar center so I can all the work I need done for a good price.
I absolutely expect some flaws but the photos listed were flawless and no mention of problems
@@TheDistortionPrinciple yeah at that point its really foul on the sellers end/ shame on him. did you ended up keeping the guitars and get somewhat a partial refund or returned the guitar ands got your money back?
$500 refret? Find another shop, man…
@@CoenBijpost I called sweetwater after and they were 600 I believe. After those two prices I assumed it was the normal. I'll check around though and see

Calling it "Fair Condition" is even a stretch.

Thats awful, i havent had that problem yet on reverb and i hope i dont. I have bought MANY things off reverb, and most sellers i have done business with have been great, make sure you ask questions when buying. But know your definitely right for being upset about the shit listing. Looks like a shop knowing tried to screw some over. But didnt count on some one knowing better.
Yep. I have bought ALOT on there. Usually good experience. I don't really like doing a shit post videos but seller irked me lol
@TheDistortionPrinciple I feel you. No one ever likes to put people on blast. But some times a buyer beware post is necessary as well.

Well, sorry you got a bad deal. Sounds and looks like guitar well played and not taken care of. I would send it back. Certainly not worth the money you will need to put into it.

Ridiculous. Glad you got your money back. Hope you didn't have to pay shipping and the restocking fee scam.

You made the mistake of not examining the pics thoroughly examining the pics, or asking for more detailed pics. You said you got a great price, that guitar is in very good condition for a 30 year old guitar. maybe you shouldn't buy older used guitars off the web
Maybe people should read the definition of very good, fair and poor condition
The seller is a POS.
No way would I try to sell a guitar in such bad shape!.
We all know old/used guitars will need a little TLC but that guitar is in horrible condition, that sucks!.

do your due diligence - and have the means and abilities to fix any problems you may come across when buying used guitars - then again if you were misled that sucks

I buy a ton of guitars on Reverb…ask a million questions so you know what your getting yourself into. Does the low price out weigh the cost of getting it repaired. Yeah the nasty fret board is bullshit he should have cleaned that up.

I'd probably keep it and take the 400 if your luthier thinks he can make it sweet for 500 to 700. But I'm an idiot and it's reasonable and probably wise to return it.
