Still one of the best drift chassis out there in my opinion, just a shame i had to let go of mine because no drift space here :( would love to have another one some day , right now im using a xray t2 for rally racing lol and has a monster truck with no pinion :/ lmao , looks good dude :) keep it coming
Hey Jaco do you think with the AWD version of this that I could fabricate a belt cover and get longer then take this thing off road or should I go with the CS front motor version and cover the belts
very cool do you still have you D3? That aluminum spur mount went on mine just fine, when you email them again ask for that pin. My front wheels bind up alot of binding, alot of people having issue. I went with the DRR 415S yokomo blocks and longer axil's and bigger bearings & tow links out more. Now no more binding;)
Can you list a parts list of the electronics you used for this kit. I am having trouble finding something good for it. It would be helpful to have something to follow. Thanks
+Marcos Gonzalez I used what I had in the shop for the power system. The Team Orion R10.1 Pro sensored ESC, Team Orion VST2 Pro 8.5t Sensored motor, Hitec 8330 servo and a Team Orion Carbon Pro 90c Shorty 2s Lipo. These items are a bit on the pricey side, but like I said, already had them.
Will a running video/performance review be coming out? Im debating getting this car as my first drift car and my first electric. Also what tools did you need for this kit? (I want to make sure I have everything)
+The RCNetwork Thanks so much. Im glad I asked I dont have a 5.5mm nut driver, have to get one. I know you said you used Orion electronics in this build, but those are kind of pricey what is a less pricey brand? As I said Im new to electric, and I messed up my first nitro so I dont want to do the same here.
I went with that because I had it on hand and it fit (wiring) wise. You can go all the way down to a Castle Creations SV3 combo - which goes for about $105. Very decent for the price. Make sure and get a decent servo - torque is not an issue - anything v about 100 oz/in but speed, try and get something under .10 sec. The savox 1257tg is about $65 for a .07 sec servo.
+Szabi ESz D3 was only AWD/countersteer. The D4 is available in both RWD and AWD. AWD is easier to learn how to drive, but with less steering angles. RWD is a bit harder to get the balance of the car, but has wicked steering angles
+Szabi ESz I haven't even driven the D4 RWD yet.....I had to wait for 3Racing to ship me 2 parts that were defective and it's on the back burner now....I'm not too happy with 3Racing right now....They sent me on a goose chase to get parts they screwed up on
+Szabi ESz I have the D3 and I love it I just had to tone down the CS from 2.0 to about 1.5 and my friend has the D4 and it's very just lots and lots of tuning and tire choices depending on what ur driving on. I find the D3 more fun and just all around easy car.
i recently bought the sakura d4 awd with 9t 4400kv motor amd esc combo loving the chassis it was easy to assemble and cant wait to see what it can do
+Broderick Jones Thanks Broderick! I should have this series rolling here soon
nice work on the electronics can't wait to see it run just ordered my d4 jus gotta get some electronics together
+derrick brandon Thanks Derrick!
Looks like fun.
+Dirty D's RC Yep, it was great build so far
cool, cant wait to see it run!
+Evolution8R Me too....but I bet you'll be there! lol
the semi-rectangular plastic part may be a radio tray for the top plate
Good deal...I believe it was to mount the battery on the back behind the rear axle

I agree! Thanks for the great comments!

:D now its time to be drifting
+lacucaracha111111 Yep, just waiting on 3Racing to ship out my stub axle.....
when will see a running video of this awesome drift car?
+Reino Van Rooyen Hopefully soon. I've had a few other projects that needed attention before the D4
Sounds fair
gyro??
A 21.5 motor would have been lots. Thumbs up for way too much power with a 8.5 haha. Nice car and attention to detail in wiring etc
+Jeff Shawaga Throttle control, sir! lol
Rwd drift need a lot of power a 21.5 is not enough

+Eric Dunlap I sold off my D3 once I heard the D4 was coming....Yeah, I've heard a ton of issues with the front end on the RWD's
Did the pinion also came in the KIT? Or which one do you use?
I was able to use the alloy spur gear mount, mine has a hole through the side for the pin.
Nice!

+The RCNetwork thank you for the info. def helps me with a starting point.

+Quantiavus Yep, there will be a running video soon. Stay tuned. As for tools, 2.5mm, 2.0mm and 1.5mm hexes with a 5.5mm nut driver an you're set
+The RCNetwork Thanks so much. Im glad I asked I dont have a 5.5mm nut driver, have to get one. +The RCNetwork Thanks for your help, Ill be able to do this without really screwing myself. Cant wait to see your running video and thoughts! :)
Hi there what upgrades would you recommend for this most important to least important
+Callum Crew Not really much....I'm just finishing mine, but I hear the front knuckles are an issue and 3Racing has come out with improved versions
+The RCNetwork cool thank you
What gyro are u planning on using?
+Jose No gyro, here! I've never drifted with a Gyro
how does rwd perform on road concrete? or is awd more better?
AWD will always be easier to drive...but that's the fun of the RWD
Where can I buy the electronics I have the d4 rwd but don't know where find the motor and other electronics
Check out RC Mart - Plenty of options there. Take a look at the "Hack" line
When is the next episode!?!?
+Maxx Venter Very soon. Getting the body and extras wrapped up
Great! Will be keeping a close eye on the channel.
+Maxx Venter Thanks Maxx!
What gyro are you running in this D4?
most people who run RWD use gyros
+John Pham-Le (Panda) No gyro here! I've never drifted with a gyro.....I hear it makes it easier, but I've already built up the skills
What do you need to convert from 4wd to rwd??
Probably a lot....and it might be worth it to just buy the AWD kit (They're right over $100)
to convert from 4wd to 2wd is more about leaving out the front belt and diff and the front drive shafts.
D3 vs D4...Which do/did you prefer?
+Szabi ESz D3 was only AWD/countersteer. The D4 is available in both RWD and AWD. AWD is easier to learn how to drive, but with less steering angles. RWD is a bit harder to get the balance of the car, but has wicked steering angles
+The RCNetwork i know this... =-)) I watched all your building and tuneing series about the 2... But wich do you prefer out of the 2, and why? :-D
+Szabi ESz I haven't even driven the D4 RWD yet.....I had to wait for 3Racing to ship me 2 parts that were defective and it's on the back burner now....I'm not too happy with 3Racing right now....They sent me on a goose chase to get parts they screwed up on

+The RCNetwork I'm really really sorry about that... hopefully you'll have the parts needed soon as possible...
nice
+TOJO RC Thanks TOJO!
how is the detc410?
+Zeno Kafetzis My DETC is long gone.....I couldn't get onto a SoCal on Road track to save my life!
👌🏻
+Jose Thanks Jose!
that's not a turnbuckle wrench, that's a dogbone they made wrong. lol.
+2cwik4u104 Nice!
I thought it was funny. lol.
