@@Peoplevox so I've been there since February 5th. The experience has been amazing. More so cause of the people I get to work with.. My employer does things differently. Still doing it the old school way - pen an paper. Checking off items as we pick. (Instead of scanning to make sure we pick the correct item, we check the last 5-6 digits of UPC.) No totes. Just carts and flat beds for bulk stuff. Everything that is picked must be organized as not cause confusion for the department making orders (haven't been trained for that yet). Usually every packing station gets about 3-5 carts (in correlation with picking list) full of stuff from which the order makers then "micro pick" and put together orders in boxes for packers to bubble wrap, bubble fill, seal, label and place on lines for shipping department.. Sound a bit complicated but things seem to run smooth and efficiently.
Its nice, though the sort while pick method is sometimes tidious - i rather sort while pack, or would sort before pack - sort while pick is bad if you have the same sku in multiple orders with multiple quantities you constantly reaching in to the box - doing the same thing over and over again while you could have picked say 50 of the same sku in one go and sort afterwards
I start next Friday. I like to attack everything with preparation or at least some kind of insight on what to expect.. thanks for the demo.
Nice! Good luck. Let us know what you think when you've picked a few orders
