    That is so cool, this falls deer will definitely use the back legs for a couple of hams. Have to talk the hubby into getting a smoker lol .

      Thanks for watching. It’s a lot of work, but tastes great and is a very enjoyable way to eat some of our harvest. It makes great sandwiches.

    You should consider offering a meal delivered to your B nB of wild game as part of the Alaskan Experience. You cook anyway for the family.

      I wonder if we’d get any takers on that experience? Interesting idea.

    Oh that looks so delicious, Mark! When I lived up in Washington State, I had some very dear friends that would hunt, fish and smoke their meats, it was always fantastic...they are great people, just as your selves. Great video, made me hungry!!! 🌼

      He had. Great birthday. Hopefully the full ice fishing video comes out before too long. It was a real adventure. Lots of fish, camping at -10f, and northern lights.

    I’ve never done this but plan to very soon. You did a great job. Very inspiring video. The only thing I might try differently is tie up the 1/4s before the cook or maybe bone it out and add the hind into a ham net. My mouth is watering watching this.

    Mark, when you came through the door with that cooked Ham, I started singing "Meat Man" by Jerry Lee Lewis. There should have been a public announcement of the Meat's arrival, Although , Lauren's did get batty eyes, saying "Looks like Thanksgiving". She was claiming her Man.
    Thank you, for teaching us how to smoke. Looks time consuming but worth it in the end. Plus a smoked anything can serve multiple meal. Have you ever tried smoking sausage? I am Polish so, good smoked sausage is always a treat. Then you guys should make sauerkraut. Good camping food. Smoked sausage with kraut

      @AlaskaBoys  2 роки тому

      Haha! We’d never heard the Meat Man song before and looked it up after your post.
      Great idea on making sauerkraut. It’s been on my list to try with some of our cabbage from the garden.

      We were out ice fishing the last two days and ate the last bag of the garrets popcorn while jigging for lake trout at -10. It made me smile, thanks for being supporters.

      I will send you a link through email, great Polish Cook in Poland. Her and her Husband have a channel. You would love it. She makes kraft and pickles the old school way. Plus stuffed cabbage with that combination meats you have, yum

    Why don't you do them bone in?
    Why don't you use a net or twine to bind up the ham?
    Good video thanks

    • @AlaskaBoys
      @AlaskaBoys  Рік тому +1

      I’ve done bone in and bone out, just depends on what we are looking to do.
      Maybe I could do the net thing? Maybe it would help with having a consistent size/mass for cooking? Hadn’t really considered it.

    Did you take the glands out from between the muscles, or does it not matter.

    • @AlaskaBoys
      @AlaskaBoys  9 місяців тому

      Yes, I took them out. I don’t think you want to eat those.
