Michael Dickerson: The MOST FORGOTTEN Member of the Short-Lived Vancouver Grizzlies | FPP

- Wherever he played, he was a good player, but he would also often find himself overshadowed by the bigger name players. Michael Dickerson had a short career, but during that time showed how he could be an all around score and really primed to serve as a great and selfless player for years to come… He started with a stellar high school career which saw NBA Players like Ricky Pierce requesting to train with him due to his physical gifts. Dickerson would then spend 4 years with the Arizona Wildcats; he came in during Damon Stoudamire’s senior season then over the next 3 years after that, he would team with Mike Bibby, Jason Terry and Miles Simon as a crucial member of the 1997 Arizona Wildcats National Championship victory, even acting as the team’s leading scorer during his junior and senior seasons. After his great college career he was a first round pick by the Houston Rockets. He was brought in to replace Clyde Drexler and spent 1999 playing alongside Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen. But then he was one of the main pieces included in the Steve Francis trade with the Vancouver Grizzlies, here over the next two years he would be a great swingman for a Grizzlies team who featured Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Bryant Reeves and Mike Bibby. But after two years with the team; they were relocated to Memphis and at the same time would trade away Abdur-Rahim and Mike Bibby for Pau Gasol and Jason Williams, yet Dickerson never really got a chance to play with them as he would appear in a combined 10 games over the next two seasons before retiring at the age of 28 due to Groin and hernia problems. Michael Dickerson likely wasn’t going to enter the league’s elite, but he was a good scorer and was just entering his prime, plus he had the misfortune of playing on the Vancouver Grizzlies; and one can only imagine the crucial role he could have played on contending teams had he stayed healthy.

He damn near did the whole Vancouver Grizzlies starting lineup with these player profiles 🤣🤣 but shout out to Big Country and Michael Dickerson though. Even with Shareef getting traded to the hawks on draft night in 2001......and if Mike Bibby didn't get traded for white chocolate, it would've been cool to see a rookie Pau Gasol, a healthy big country, Mike Bibby and a healthy Mike Dickerson on those rebranded Memphis grizzlies team. And it's crazy cause, they became a playoff team with Hubie Brown. I definitely think it would've been the same with them guys.....oh and Shane Battier lol.
Michael Dickerson was slept on. Please do one on Derek Anderson
I grew up in Seattle and watched him in HS while i was a middle school kid and i seen so many greats pass by, and he was the best HS player i ever seen that's saying a lot! A LOCAL LEGEND
Thank you, Michael Dickerson was really good 👍🏾
I remember he was really good when you play with him in NBA live 2003
And on NBA 2k2 as well
Live 03 is GOATed. Sonics, Grizzlies, Bucks, Hawks. No one could touch me with them

@jaahnnn dang yup. I hooked with Rockets on live 03 too. Francis, Mobley and Eddie Griffin were dangerous
@@j.a.5711 Eddie griffin pf with a 3 ball lol
I LOVED Michael Dickerson when I was in high school. He was such a good player at Arizona who got overshadowed because he hit a shooting slump in the '97 tourney so he took a back seat to Simon and Bibby. He still played great D during that tournament though. Never thought he'd be featured in this series. I wore #23 in high school because of him.
One of my all time favorite Arizona Wildcats.
I’m from Federal Way and just a few years younger than him and followed his career closely. He was the first player in our area to make it to the NBA so it was a big deal. Thanks for doing this video.
Yo, your videos are awesome. I’ve watched them nonstop since my baby was born. Please do Ricky Pierce!
Absolutely LOVE seeing these videos about these former Arizona Wildcats!!! Thank you very much for all of them! Much appreciated!
Went to Federal Way High School where Mike D is a legend. This guy used to come play pickup at our practices and KILL shooting with his off hand. Built like a running back with crazy skills. He was the first person to really show me how much better NBA players are than non-pros.
You're right i forgot this man💯💯💯💯💯💯
I played a few pick up games with him & Bibby, some years back, he was still cookin!
Good onee...I always thought Dickerson & Miles Simon was gonna be consistent all star calibur players from those late 90s Arizona teams
Do ron mercer
Omg ty I was thinking/trying to find a video bout him this morning
Love that you went off the grid for this episode
I really enjoy all of your videos. I would like to see one on Sedalle Threatt. He was a really underrated player of the 90's.
Thank you 😊
I remember him because of the high socks and NBA 2k for Dreamcast
As a 90's NBA baby these videos are super dope. So many forgotten ballers. Keep up the good work bro, really enjoying your vids
Great video! I always loved this guys game. He played well against UNM in college
Holy cats, as a Rockets fan, loved Dickerson and seeing this video was a joy to see.
This guy should be in 2k
They forget about M. Dickerson. That's in the bag. There are still deep cuts that produced, but didn't get the recognition. Robert Pack, Michael Adams, Bryant Stith, Vashon Leonard, Mario Ellie, PJ Brown, etc.
He was to me, who Kawhi is today. He had the same demeanor as Kawhi. Man you went back on this one.
Met him at Bellevue Square shopping center my freshman year of HS. He really spent an hour with me and my cousin just giving us some sound sports/life advice. Easily one of the nicest pro athletes around
Great Video.
I loved that Wildcats team.
Lute Olson was great with developing guards and wings.
You could probably do a series on players from his coaching career!
Walt Williams PLEASE!
Can you do a Jamal Crawford video PLEASE!!!! I’m huge fan of your videos. Keep up the good work and you are definitely a blessing to the hoops culture.
When nba live added franchise mode that was someone I always had to put on my team
My homeboy from college was from the Tennessee/Kentucky border and was the only grizzlies fan id ever met. He used to rave about this guy and i had no idea who he was back then
Mike D was dope to watch, I used to rock the socks like him 😂 he definitely would’ve been a difference maker in Memphis
Yeah This was my Guy.When he was in college with Arizona,He was a Beast,Sure a beautiful jumper,Like Joe Dumars.Im a Detroit Piston all my life,But we had Alan Houston at that time. But Dickerson was one of the best shooting guards.Made it the NBA & disappeared
Request: Dino Raja
this dude busts my ass at LA fitness every time I go
i was just talking about dude with my girlfriend. i wondered if you had already done one on Dickerson, and then you do one. crazy
Have you done Voshon Lenard video? I feel like he’s a forgotten solid player
Arizona had some squads back to back in that Lute Olsen Era:
Gilbert Arenas
Jason Terry
Mike Bibby
Miles Simon
Richard Jefferson
Luke Walton
Damon Stoudamire
Michael Wright
Khalid Reeves
Jason Gardiner
College basketball is a different game now -- with the One and Done.
A lot of talent has come out of Seattle, and UW also had a squad for a minute:
Nate Robinson / Brandon Roy / Isiah Thomas
Isn't J-Crossover (Jamal Crawford) from Seattle?
True baller!
Hey can u do one on Brendon Haywood. Great UNC player and I saw him play in high-school. I'm from Greensboro NC. Please
Do one on Mark Mad Dog Madsen
