The idea of the event was precisely to allow photography during the whole performance, as a special service for the attendants. We wanted the event to have a more relaxed atmosphere, and let the guests record the experience without restrictions. The girls knew that and were aware, so there is no problem at all.
It's amazing to think that years ago, this world of Geisha was secret and hardly known but now people of all colors, shapes and sizes can fly right to where the art originated and grew to see these masters continue to perform! Absoltuley stunning!!
ィファーテイラーデ I watched this same performance last April 2, but strictly no filming or photo were allowed. I think they hear you ☺️but in fairness it is more beautiful without the flashing and clicking of the camera. And it’s more beautiful performance on April events. After the show, a Japanese man approached me and gave me a piece of white cloth with a Japanese character on it, I think it means the name of the show, with a Geisha’s Signature in it, such a memorable experience. Thank You...
I don't think there is a prettier woman on earth than maiko and geiko. They are magnificent creatures. Living flowers, so graceful. It's absolutely amazing to me.
Hi! Thank you very much for your comment! As you say, now there are less girls training to become Geiko (Geisha) but, here in Kyoto there is a strong social movement to preserve this tradition. The Geiko and Maiko perform often in local festivals and sometimes for tourists too. As part of these efforts, here in Kyoto Fan we posted these Geiko/Maiko videos, so share its culture with the world.
Well, the idea of the event was precisely that, to openly show the art of the Geiko and Maiko, giving the guests the freedom to take photos and have a record of this memorable experience. Also, we, including the girls that kindly performed for us, really hope that through all the photos and video taken, many others get the opportunity to know about the Geiko/Maiko culture. That was the main goal of our event, to share this amazing art with as much people as possible.
yes i agree every single comments negative and rascist and hateful comment include swearing people these day dont have any respect for people and people culture.
I get your point. In Japan, when at private events where the Geiko and Maiko perform, usually photography is not allowed. But in that case you have to pay for the seat, so as you say, you would expect to enjoy the show without everyone around taking photos. But in the case of public free events, photography is sometimes allowed, so you cannot expect the other people to stop taking photos. In the case of our event, we wanted the guests to freely record everything.
You are welcome! We didn't expected the setting and stage to look so professional hehe. Actually the whole event atmosphere was intended to be relaxed and casual, to let the attendees take a close look to the Maiko and Geiko, and have the chance to know more about them.
This was it's third edition (called 道開き)and we do try our best every year to introduce others to Japan culture by organizing as many workshops as possible. It was nice.We love Japan and I for one CANNOT wait to get there. It's been my dream for so long now. Life it's so expensive though. Idk how u manage.
Ahh, I see. That makes much more sense then. So basically this is equivalent to say, a public street performance we would have here in order to let everyone have a sample of what we do. With the setting, it makes it seem like a regular performance, so I was very confused by the behavior. I understand what you mean now. Thanks for explaining!
I saw that you guyz had not seen i saw that there is a connection of her dance with her dance and she is trying to telling you about a four season and there is a message.
This good I like I'm doing a school project on this so I'm bringing a dancing fan and my friend letting bring her old kimono I, not wearing it tho it's to show and I might present this video as well it will make my class project even better
Completely agree. As someone in theatre, I find it extremely rude. And it's surprising for a culture known to be so polite. I can understand wanting to capture the moment, but then simply record it. Rather than worrying about getting pictures, you should be focusing on the performance. And not be rude to the performers and others watching by using flash photography, or cameras that make a bunch of noise.
Wow Very Nice!I'm so happy that Japanese are keeping their culture but i read somewhere that number of Geishas is diminishing which it think is already a threat with rising global culture. its really sad to see this trend all over the world! but anyways i really enjoyed the performance! Best Luck from Azerbaijan!!
Gorgeous! You really should tell people no photography during performances though- flash or otherwise. All I can here is constant clicking from cameras. I understand people want to capture it, but use the record function or take pictures before and after. It's just rude to interupt performances with cameras.
Yeah, but I feel it also to be rude to the other people there watching. If I were to attend such an event, I'd want to sit and enjoy it. Not be interupted by camera noise. I understand the idea of the event. Perhaps it's because I'm in theatre myself, but I just don't like that kind of thing. Is it something more common in Japan, perhaps? It certainly isn't here, lol.
I have heard on the Dutch radio that due to the Corona crisis tourist stay a mass away from Japan, just 2% visit Kyoto, very sorry for you, i like these nice performance, but i dislike the sound of that photographing tourist. Greetings from Holland.
I just wanna ask about maiko gieko or geisha girls can they fall in love and get marry and make kids and have their own family and can they quit of becoming maiko gieko and geisha if they want or not
I dont get it, just seemed like opening and closing of a fan, a lot of hand moving and turning. Not to entertaining to me. Now I loved the singing and the music.
Taking photos I understand. But talking during a special rare event is disrespectful. I wish the people in the background had shut the hell up and simply BE in the moment and keep all conversations AFTER the performance.
The idea of the event was precisely to allow photography during the whole performance, as a special service for the attendants. it's so soothing and gentle and authentic and the camera noises really detract from that feeling
Am i the only one hipnotized by the elegant moves of her hands?
good point!
I think everything about her dance is hypnotizing and beautiful (P.S i know you write this 6 years ago but i just wanted to say it
👉👈)
I felt the same way tho... ;)
I am to
she's so pretty and the dance was beautiful!!
Yes, surely nowadays the world of the Geiko and Maiko is more open to the general public and they share more of this amazing tradition with the world.
It's kinda wholesome to watch old videos of maiko performance, because they probably are geishas now days already.
i think the cameras are from journalists , not from plain tourists so the noise and flash is understandable
Beautiful, but the noises of the cameras are...disrespectful..-_- Geez just take one picture people....not 100..
xXMiaou ForeverrXx this was a big event, not only tourists were there, reporters from japan were also hired for this

Absolutely beautiful:) I really want to visit Japan someday and maybe even live there.
I don't think there is a prettier woman on earth than maiko and geiko. They are magnificent creatures. Living flowers, so graceful. It's absolutely amazing to me.
Me Myself | EXACTLY there aren't prettier women.
They are so beautiful aren't they. Thank you for viewing the video. :)
Oh! So good to know that you had the opportunity to see this wonderful part of the Japanese culture in your country :)
Maiko really are the most beautiful creatures on earth

people are so rude all those damn camera noises, enjoy the dance she's performing so elegant. This isn't facebook!?
Tourists don't know the manner in Ozashiki.
yes i agree every single comments negative and rascist and hateful comment include swearing people these day dont have any respect for people and people culture.
STONECOLD1987 it's possible it wasn't JUST tourist. It seems like a big event they could have been hired by magazines and the news to takes photos.
This was a huge event, many reporters of Japan was also there, not just tourists.
Will do my best! Hope to see you in Kyoto soon!
Is great to know about the hard work you guys are doing to present the Japanese culture! Ganbatte Kudasai!
We had a festival in Romania and we danced Kyo no Shiki also. Nothing compares to this and Kyoto though:))
It's mesmerising. As though it were created to hypnotise...

Maiko Fukunae retired on October 2016, Geiko Miehina is still working :)
😭😭 miss her
I really, really like this ! Wow !
This is how they compare women to flowers
Yeah I know this was 6 years ago but you do realise she is 14 at the time of recording?
@@stoof4598 Really? I thought girls could become maikos on the age of 15 to 17 years old
You are welcome! We didn't expected the setting and stage to look so professional hehe. Actually the whole event atmosphere was intended to be relaxed and casual, to let the attendees take a close look to the Maiko and Geiko, and have the chance to know more about them.
So beautiful. The dance is a series of poses.
Beautiful!

That was awesome! What is that instrument called?
+Junipher Li Shamisen. traditional 3 strings instrument.
+Junipher Li i think is the Shamisen or samisen, i´m not sure how to spell it.
Junipher Li | its called a Shamisen.
Is there anymore video showing this young Maiko Dancing..?
xbx247 juicy
This Maiko Fukunea is no longer geiko
♥️♥️
I bet she floats after she removes the kimono at the end of the day
Красиво!
どういたしまして!
Движения майко в танце ещё не отточенные, не такие изящные, как у гейко :) но видно, что девочка старается :)
i wonder what the geisha is singing. I think it has something to do with what maiko performs. She is telling a story but i can't understand it

reminds me of an elegant porcelain pupped
This Maiko is really graceful and elegant, dances like a feather, I've been watching even geikos and they are neither elegant not graceful at all....
Ben buraya nasıl geldim aq
well a reclam most by , and also on the other part to bicome a gheisha it,s big deal, and farword, to bicome a tayu, it,s great destiny destination.
❤️🙏🇦🇿🧕
Why are people talking and making so many pictures? Very annoying!! Just enjoy with your eyes, not your camera
camera noise and flash ruin it
Love the exquisite dancing, but that trodden-on-cat yowling and the twanging rubber band noise of the samisen really make me cringe.
coralarch She was a little pitchy from time to time 😂
I dont get it, just seemed like opening and closing of a fan, a lot of hand moving and turning. Not to entertaining to me. Now I loved the singing and the music.
Taking photos I understand. But talking during a special rare event is disrespectful. I wish the people in the background had shut the hell up and simply BE in the moment and keep all conversations AFTER the performance.
Strange, but her face is insensitive. Which is not good for me.
really annoying clapping 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Ужасная нудная музыка. Танец не лучше. Не могу понять почему мне это нравится!
好生硬,简直快睡着了
Beautiful.
