the biggest mystery of both F.R.I.D.A and FCG's backstory isn't whether or not they're from Aeor. It's, if they're from Aeor, *where's the Bolo accent?*

Caleb did say he has someone inside the assembly as an inside "man" or rather woman jn that case, cause (spoilers for the end of c2 ofc) I think Astrid took the position he was offered so she's probably the one he was talking about keeping him informed. He himself is not an assembly member as he was pretty strongly aligned against it the whole time and still doesn't align with too many of their views. He and Beau were working to take the assembly apart. Also as seen at the end of C2 and solidified in the Two-Shot fight against U'katoa he didn't even want to be a teacher in the beginning, everything in him fighting against that, but he did accept eventually.
@@Samsquantch82 Yeah it is basically confirmed the other group is coming in. They have to cover a few weeks of whatever the other group was doing to get caught back up, unless they were flung through time.

Of all the reveals (Laudna's connection to the Briarwoods, FCG being a murderbot, Imogen and Fearne being Ruidusborne, whatever Ashton's thing will be)... The RTA tattoo has been the most shocking.
this episode was insane. the panic i had when fearne was down two death saves barely forty minutes in. them trying to escape. frida and fcg getting matching sweaters. the staff of teleportation. the possibility of going back to whitestone. the true story of rta. the changebringer. the dawnfather. THIS EPISODE HAD EVERYTHING
Divinity in critical role and how Matt writes/rps his pantheon is SO interesting lore wise. The Calamity has GOT to be one of the most interesting things i've ever heard of as a concept in fantasy, and EXU: Calamity really nailed it on the head.
@@willnelson9906 I fully agree. When you look at different DMs, you see different strengths and weaknesses - and Matt's strength is in portraying the fringes of consciousness. Dreams, omens, prophetic visions... he really nails that psychedelic sense of impossibility that accompanies you when you see things beyond your comprehension. Like how the Changebringer looked a hundred miles away, but also felt impossibly large - and how her hair was whipping in the wind around FCG in spite of the distance. He also did a fantastic job with all the more alien, fantastical parts of the Feywild, imo. (Like the singing flowers, the rhyming gatekeeper, and Nana Morri.) When you look at Matt vs. the other DMs, Matt is the best at worldbuilding - and this is where it shows.
Love how Travis goes from absolutely no romance in C1, to a timid and budding love story in C2 then a full werewolf on gnome on fawn romp in a haunted nightmare forest in C3… what character growth!
I'm so sad that they didn't get to run into Cad in these episodes. I really want him to make a comeback. Also Matt reminding Chetney that " he technically had a short rest" and can turn into a werewolf was so amazing. I could see his simultaneous pain and amusement. Also, Laura referred to their camp area as the "dome," and I really miss Caleb and the Might Nine :'(
Watching them trying to pretend that they dont know Caleb, Beau, Vax, or anyone/anything from previous campains, so the current characters can semi naturally on their own keep up with their knowledge is the peak content 🤣🤣🤣
3:29:00 as someone who has thumb wrestled themselves many times- whether out of boredom, to disassociate from an awkward situation and/or out of loneliness-this has to be the most only child thing she has ever done and I'm here for it.
Given the context of what Chetney, Fearne, and Deanna are doing, I choose to believe that Imogen “thumb wrestling herself” is a euphemism on Laura’s part
Everyone deserves a Travis and Christian who'll get you beautiful toys and clothes tailored for you and your D&D character 💜 also for Christian's song 1:28:26
GODS YES. And I'm dying to see who guests with them! Maybe Robbie and either Anjali or Aimee if they go the Crown Keepers route? Though I'd personally LOVE to see Luis Carazo back at the table after his stellar turn in ExU Calamity.
I would love that. The weird thing is the impression that I got was that Deanna and Frida were coming along. Which would suggest there isn't an otherside to this. There just going to reunite with the other guys and that's it? And if that's the case I feel a little disappointed.
I think Liam LIVES for doing that. I wonder if I can convince CritRoleStats to crunch the numbers of how many times Matt glares at any given player right at the start to get some indication of which one is the biggest offender. :D
While I do miss Tal, Liam, and Marisha, but Aabria and Christian have been holding it down amazingly. They’re so talented and the chemistry just works!
@@ilsehattingh1976 I’m with you. I like Aabria, but even she has started to be a bit much during this appearance. I can’t stand Christian, though. He’s a bandwagon rider, and he gives me major Orion Acaba vibes. Fudging rolls, always trying to be the most OP character in the room, always trying to fuck the other characters. They need to cut ties with him altogether
@@Thndrcougrfalcnbrd To me it seems like a lack of experience in the game. It would hard not to follow others peoples lead and get invovled. Aabria frustrated me this epoisode, always trying to see if there's something could change a dice roll - can't always win, in battle or story.
I swear to god, this was so cathartic. I’ve been saying theories on how the Factorum Maleus from campaign two was connected to it all and now it’s getting confirmed, I’m so hyped on this!!!
@@Saerwen_Celeste yeah, so much of it has lingered in the background for a long time, and I know that people were initially sad that C2 wasn’t longer, but I think it is because there was time needed for everything to naturally grow to a boiling point, even if it was beyond the scope of just that story
I kinda don't like the derailment of Fearne and Chetney parlay... That was one of the most fun character dynamics, and so much more enjoyable imo than the standard romances we've seen and gotten recently. Also, they came on quite strong
*spoilers for the episode* (but if you're already in the comment section there's not much I can do for you) props to Christian for not breaking character when Chetney/Travis gave him the gift. he really nails the whole "robot with feelings" concept. Sam is chaos and FCG is a mess, but that's part of his character and I love every aspect of it - but it's been really interesting to see how someone else plays the aeormaton 'race'
I love environmental solutions to encounters. You don't often see them occur naturally in video games because they can easily break the game unless you lamely script them in beforehand, and they don't often happen in play because environmental damage is meh compared to overpowered player skills, and also because it's easy to miss a solution when you don't have enough visuals. So when these do happen, and DM acknowledges them as a clever play - it's satisfying.
Yes in video games u have to Programm physics, create objects to interact with. This argument is stupid! In D&d everything is based on our reality… If we wanna do something, we do it! But I also know a lot of games where u can and should use the everything around the player. U could make the argument that in d&d if the players don’t use the location to there favor it’s on the players lack of imagination.
I think Baldur's Gate 3 made the environment an ally by allowing fluid and magic effect interactions, and introducing multiple deep, deadly chasms to push targets into. Other games just assume there is no OSHA, and place flaming/explosive containers everywhere.
So the harness is definitely an early model of the one he gave to Otohan Thull that they use to harness Luxon juice (liquid god like energy) that lets them use Dunamancy clones and such right?
The differing motivations and resultant arguments of each character involved in the analysis paralysis was truly mind boggling...specifically Imogen focused on getting back to Laudna...FCG wanting to stay near Uthodurn...and Chetney, the eternal wanderer, wanting to move forward and make more allies...all within the broader spectrum of the discussion... They are all so good...its truly phenomenal to watch...
Mild Spoilers: For those that were a bit confused like me, the way Laura read the description of the teleport spell on the staff was disjointed. I thought she said you could teleport to an object or destination, and was immediately confused why they wouldn't just teleport to like, Laudna's shirt or Orym's sword or something. But the spell (assuming it's the same one) says you can teleport up to eight willing creature or an object TO a destination. Just the way she read it out got me a bit confused, so if it did for anyone else there's your clarification lol
I’m finally caught up with C3!! I found out about Critical Role with C3 and have watched it since it started. They have really helped me develop my love of D&D and their story telling skills are some of the most engaging I’ve ever watched. Now I’ll start the long track of watching C2 and C1. Love you guys and can’t wait for what’s next! Im officially a Critter!
2:08:00 Everything about Matt's joke as the paper makes me laugh so hard. The delivery is awesome physically and verbally. I could watch this over and over... Okay, I have watched this over and over XD
@@TheMaestro1275 There is definitely a small section of fans who find Aimee/Opal annoying, probably the same ones who hated Keyleth/Marisha, or find Laura too loud/hyper/childish. Opal and Aimee are a gift for CR, can't wait for her to show up again soon ☺
Yeah, I think he's a good fit for the group. He certainly does a good job roleplaying his character. Kinda wish the rest of the group would dial the attempts at humor back slightly though. Feels a bit off the rails then the beginning of the campaign, which I really enjoyed.
@@0heckAgreed there - I think the chaos of Chet, Fearne and Sam Riegel meshes too well with Aabria's playing vibes. It easily distracts from the atmosphere Matt has been trying to build up post-Solstyce, and apart from a few moments of sincerity, nothing quite impacted as usual. I like them playing together, but sometimes it hinders the emotional beats. Not to sound too harsh but it's almost like the guest characters kind of failed their point
Im so scared about what happened to Keyleth, im watching vox machina at the same time like this and i've just gotten to the episode where she becomes the voice of the tempest. I would hate she went out like that.
Damn. At 1:14:10 Laura really roasted Liam's rogue. "...Action-Action-Double Action-Bonus Action-Dash-Dash" When Vax attacks towards the end of the campaign it's "Action, Hasted Action, Bonus Action", but he also had at least five levels in paladin which made it "Action (Sneak Attack, Attack), Hasted Action (Attack), Bonus Action (Off-hand Attack), which sometimes have the table staring at him and Matt, trying to understand just how many attacks and/or actions he was gonna do. Not to mention when he adds Smite and rerolls from Lucky.
Your comment made me realize that the reason I bond so much with Liam's characters, is because Ive done the same thing at my table. Minus the lucky role
I’m guessing the whole “killer chair that then move to the center of the room” bit to be a reference to “the chair” from C2. I love that he took the thanos approach of “fine, if matt won’t make the chair lore significant then I’ll do it myself”
I've been struggling with anxiety this past week and today was specially bad, but somehow watching you guys play and reading the comments always makes me feel better. Thank you so much both CR and critters 💙
I love that Laura Bailey's such a good actress that even her friends who've known her and acted and roleplayed alongside her for years still can't tell for sure if she's for real or doing a bit.
I just want a compilation of Matt's monster noises. Just...all of them. The snarls, howls, grunts, screeches, and cries. Someone answer my prayer, please🙏
1:56:13 timestamps for the bull art (and there’s more beautiful stuff from about 1:54:25) Thank you for the tip! I went back to check out the art and it was amazing!
I really like the way "Mr Poc o' Pea" has a sort of, if not mentor, at least elder kind of relationship with Frida. There's something sweet about this elderly rascal, seeing to the heart of things, and taking a young (though in fact vastly older) character under his wing, in a very respectful way.
@@MrNoahTall Totally agree. Christian is an excellent role player. A really unexpected and welcome presence. One of the skills he displayed that I have seen long time players struggle with, is staying in the moment, even though people around him are being silly cracking jokes. Takes patience and grace to not lose focus or get sidetracked, but also enjoy the other players while you are doing your thing. Really hope we see him at the table again.
I love Critical Role and dnd in general cause it can go from serious worry for a character to slapping a monster with a giant divine diva cup in the span of a few minutes without the narrative missing a beat.
Do you guys think that the other group is also playing their sessions? It's interesting that all of them are always here at the beginning of the episodes.
I wondered the same thing! Especially when FCG asked the Changebringer if they'd meet up with everyone in Jrusar and she said yes. But if so, poor Matt, he'd be doing double the work every week.

F.C.G was described as taking Dancer's accent, so this whole time I wrote it off as that, but you're right about F.R.I.D.A...
Bolo could have immigrated to Aeor and become a citizen, or she could have been from an ethnic district ala Little Italy or Chinatown, or she could have lied about being from Aeor to sound fancy, etc.

In D&d everything is based on our reality…
If we wanna do something, we do it!
Other games just assume there is no OSHA, and place flaming/explosive containers everywhere.
shout out to Matt for voicing Ganondorf in Zelda tears of the kingdom! :)
So the harness is definitely an early model of the one he gave to Otohan Thull that they use to harness Luxon juice (liquid god like energy) that lets them use Dunamancy clones and such right?
I think it for sure is used to put god balls in, like Vax was put into the machine.

But the spell (assuming it's the same one) says you can teleport up to eight willing creature or an object TO a destination. Just the way she read it out got me a bit confused, so if it did for anyone else there's your clarification lol
