  • I’m back! New drawing and art tutorial videos EVERY WEDNESDAY.
    Part 1 of figure drawing with a ballpoint pen. This initial process of laying down the first several layers of crosshatch took about 90 minutes.
    In Part 2, I’ll show you how to add details and highlights on the figure.

    ...Nah, seriously, love your tutorials! actually, learn this same ballpoint technique from one of them you did a while ago, and works every time, so thanks a lot! 🙂

    El dibujo es sorprendente pero mas me sorprende la paciencia para sombrear de esa manera.

      You must be joking. Tasteful would be wearing a full burqa, scarf, mittens, winter coat, mukluks, and a muumuu. This is obscene!

    holy crap, cleaning the pen tip is actually a thing. I do that myself when I ink with a ball point. I thought pros actually had this special technique to not have the pen go blotty all the time. feeling rather vindicated.

    Such a simple technique, and yet, such a difficult technique to master.
    Do you recommend any brands of ballpoint pens other than the one you're showing in that video? (I can't find them in my country)

    Real artists never use reference photos, Frank!

      So how do you feel about The Golden Age of Illustrators? They used tons of references! Also what about Alex Ross and others, today who heavily use references?

    • @cameronhill9267
      @cameronhill9267 8 місяців тому

      Mind you I do believe that artist should rely on their memory and technical skills! Although I know majority still need to look at some sort of reference just for accuracy!

      @@cameronhill9267 that’s why I only like animators and cartoonists. Ross is a hack, Rockwell is a hack. But nc wyeth is good. And John Bauer, John tenniel, Arthur rackham, ww denslow, t s sullivant and many, many others who used little or no reference. Photo reference and photo tracing are popular on social media because they’re easy and people are lazy and want results without effort.
