Sweetener is definitely a grower. As an arianator, it took me a year to fully appreciate the album for what it is. I love how she took her pain and made something happy out of that instead of crying over it. This album is supposed to be healing but it definitely takes time to get used to 🤍☁️
also, blazed and The Light is Coming are BOPS! but again, it takes time.

Ok so sweetener is my favorite album of Ariana’s but blazing I skip every time because I hate it soo much. The light is coming tho it has grown on my and I love it now.

trust me, almost everyone when they listened to sweetener for the first time was like....this has so many bad songs and so many good. but in the fandom it has really grown on everyone and i promise you, blazed; borderline, the light is coming,... are bops! they make you feel so happy and you can really vibe with them. once you see the beauty of this album, you know it's one of her bests. it's my fav :)

Even though Pharrell's involvement in this album was a polarising choice, he's been an influential producer in urban/pop music for decades which would make for a much anticipated collaboration with Ariana. By 2003, he had produced 43% of ALL songs being played on US radio. Sure, people have every right to be divided in terms of opinion on this album but let's not be quick to discredit legends! ❤️
Exactly, it's up to everyone to decide whether they like his production or not but there's no deny that he's a legend.
Thank GOD somebody said something because when she said people don’t like his production I cringed so hard! If you don’t listen to Urban music then you just don’t know.
It's like what he said in his reaction to Alaska by Maggie Rodgers, "You can love it or hate it but you can't say you've heard something like it before" I can't see another artist doing Sweetener except Ariana

Same! Reading some of these comments I’m like, y’all really didn’t enjoy this album the first time you heard it? Every song gets me in such a mood. I listened to the album on repeat until thank u next came out 😂. Still one of my top favorite albums of all time.
Yep I loved this album immediately after it came out. Sure I had to listen to couple of the songs a few times more to really know and love them, but it didn't take as long as I think it took most people. And I mean like, 99% of people. The fandom was really testing me like all of 2018 and 2019 until like halfway through the Sweetener tour. That's when people suddenly realised the songs are good 🙄
I think some are not actually hating, maybe this is their Least Favourite Album. This is my least favourite album. Yours Truly will always be no. 1 🥰
It's just a lot of these songs by Pharrell make me have a headache every time I listen to them.

Fun fact: Goodnight n Go is a “rework”/soft cover of a song she used to cover on UA-cam a long time ago. The song is called Goodnight and Go by Imogen Heap off the fantastically deep album Speak For Yourself!

sweetener is my favorite album! its so experimental & healing. it took me a few listens, but now i adore it. its an album you either hate or really love though. many songs u didnt love (like tlic, sweetener & successful, rem for example) are sooooo much better live.
Someone else said it best but Sweetner is basically an healing album. You’d have to be going through things similar to what she went through to truly feel it.

i love the album with all of my heart well except blazed i just can't stand that song.
REM and GWS were instant for me. I needed Sweetener/Successful live together to love them. Still hate blazed and TLIC didn't need a second verse

I think sweetener isn’t very popular but some people are die hard for it.
I wish it was a ballad but with the message it wouldn’t really make sense.
Literally if the production was a bit different more dreamier somewhere between REM and PD and the bop it parts were taken out it’d be an Elite Ari song
Successful is my favourite out of the unpopular songs and like the down graded version of 7 rings really

Breathin’ Is a fan favourite but a tad over rated but also about her anxiety
No tear left to cry was the lead single and sometimes slept on but also one of the most popular songs
Borderline is another Pharrell produced track most people don’t like but I think it’s ok, Missy is a legend but doesn’t feel right on this production
Better off is for some reason slept the fuck on. Wake up y’all
Goodnight n go is a fav favourite and is a cover just switched up
Pete davidson is hated one purely because of the name.
Should’ve just been called Happy or her like it was originally but I think it is in my top 5 songs
Get well soon is about her anxiety mostly and the silence at the end makes the song add up to 5.22 which was the date of the Manchester bombing that happened at the dangerous woman world tour

This reaction is how I also felt with my initial listen. But when I listen to it a LOT of times, it reminded me WHY did they made this album this way. This is a healing album and I understand why most people won't like it. But the fact that this is Ariana's most personal album should be the enough reason why it won a grammy it deserves. 🤗

It’s okay not many people like blazed or the light is coming or borderline or sweetener and some don’t like successful. This album is one of those where you love it or hate it. I hated it at first but it has GROWN on me and now it’s my 2nd fave!

sweetener is a grower for sure, at first i was pretty divided, but somehow it grew into being my favorite ariana album! it’s different, doesn’t bore me, and this is when ariana started getting more real with her lyrics, it’s definitely a healing album

ahh i’m so glad i finally had time to watch this 😂 sweetener is actually my favorite album of ari’s but it took me so long to love it. i remember my very first listen, i wasn’t vibing with it at all... but then i realized how experimental and fresh it sounded even after a year of it being out and that’s when everything changed. i also just loved that era when the album came out and when no tears was out. she did a whole blackout like taylor did and stayed off socials for 4 months till ntltc came out and it made everything more fun. and just the whole message behind the album is amazing. gws is actually my healing song now, like whenever i’m sad or even happy it’s all i wanna play haha. i can’t wait to watch your tun reaction tonight after i get out of work!!
ngl I didn’t really like the album at first that much but it’s really grown on me and goodnight n go is just the best. Looking back, I think this sound really suited her voice and it was nice to see her go in a different direction. Can u react to born to die, purpose, or ungodly hour? All three of them are really good healing albums with a lot of meaningful messages.

This is probably the most honest representation of sweetener like the up and down sort of songs, personally this album is sentimental to me so I definitely love it but I can understand why others are a bit like ehh. Sweetener set the pace for tu,n and I definitely think it’s a great album- especially since it was her comeback from everything that happened to her. But yeah I can’t wait for ur tu,n reaction because that’s her best albummmmm.

sweetener gave me some of my favorite ariana songs and made it my favorite album by her. get well soon has such a strong connection to me in that it was the song i had on repeat after the passing of my grandma who passed away a few months after sweetener was released. sweetener is a healing album and it definitely helped me during that time which is why it has a special place in my heart.

I have the same thing with Ari. She has one of the best voices I've heard. She has a pure talent one in a million. She can touch your heart with it. But I feel like sometimes it's just the production that doesn't go well with my taste. And you think to yourself 'damn it could have been done differently, and she would be amazing how she deserves to shine'. I can't imagine the scene without her, but some soft of songs are just nah for me.

also, this album I swear helped so many people in 2018! I too was having my issues and this album was an absolute tonic for the soul! I feel like Sweetener is the Ari equivalent of ARTPOP: very misunderstood but over time has proven to be a masterpiece.
