I agree Kittie to me don't get the credit or recognition they deserve. Not to take nothing away from Tatiana from Jinjer but everyone is so shocked and amazed Tatiana can sing and growl when in early 2000 Morgan was doing that. Morgan is the first female singer I know of who has a great beautiful singing voice then a deep guttural growl
Kittie is pretty badass. My biggest crushes back then were Morgan Lander of Kittie and T-Boz from TLC. And Kittie is closer to sludge or doom metal than nu-metal, there just weren't that many subgenre distinctions at the time. I'd also recommend revisiting some of their later albums, like In The Black and I've Failed You. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I had a crush on all three up front in high school since Mercedes was only 14 and I was 16.... I'm not a creep :) I forgot how cute Talena is in this video, before I was more of a Morgan/Fallon dude :)
@@TheAdventuresofTNT Kittie really returned to the old style. Try "Vultures" first because it's the one that you might like the most. "Eyes wide open" is harder and "We are shadows" is a little bit "softer" but still Metal.
I think their last album was pretty good. Been a Kittie fan from day one. Like all bands though, they have hit and miss songs, but I totally agree, highly underrated band
This band brings me a lot of nostalgia. I loved these girls when I was in high school back in the 90s, their staging was brutal. His sound was something different from what he offered us in nu metal. Their 1st album was by far the best and for me it was one of those 1st girl bands that was really powerful and always underrated.
this band was and still is part of my life like they got me into metal when i first seen brackish back in the day....there more recent songs like my plague and whisper of death are two really good ones
Great reaction. I used to heavily be into Kittie myself during my pre-teen years of the early 2000s. Its a pity they're labeled as teen angst music. Spit definitely was definitely nu metal because of the Korn and Slipknot influences but I loved it. Oracle had more of a strong death metal edge, hardcore / metalcore riffing, and a slight gothic sound but still retained the freshness and melody that came with it. I've noticed how in this music video there were only being 3 members. And that's cause Fallon had left the group around this time during the production of Oracle. Not sure about all the details but I know it was do to creative differences. And Talena left not too far after. And I agree, after Oracle I kind of fell off the band as well. They started shifting their sound into something away from what got me into them. I've been going back to listening to their other albums after Oracle and I thought Until the End was not bad but all their other stuff after was kind of meh. Even though their sound has improved both vocally and instrumentally and they definitely have matured, I just couldn't get into them. Not saying they were all bad because they had their high points but it just didn't have that same flavor that got me into them. Even though some people will make fun how outdated and cheesy their early stuff was but it had it's own uniqueness. I kind of wish Talena and Fallon would've stayed because those 2 seemed like they had such good chemistry with the Lander sisters.
I agree with EVERYTHING you said. I think the chemistry between the original line up was unmatched. I was also blown away by the fact that they were 16 year old teenagers back when spit was released. These girls were heavier than the guys they were touring with.
Got to see Kittie in 2002 & then again in 2006. They always put on a amazing show, used to have a crush on Morgan & Fallon their original bassit. Morgan did a collab with Hed Pe called Feel Good, which also included Serj from SOAD. Speaking of Hed Pe, do a reaction to their new song/video First Blood. Thx🤘
They were 100% in the nu-metal category in the late 90's, but there's nothing wrong with that. They toured with the Korn's and Limp Bizkit's and Incubus's of the time.
give Boston's debut album a listen. It's a masterpiece . every song is great .Start with MORE THAN A FEELING. it was released in August,1976 and sold over 18million copies. it was the biggest selling debut album until appetite for destruction. Tom Scholz wrote all the songs, played all instruments (except drums) and recorded it in his basement studio. Brad Delp does ALL vocals.
This song is my ringtone for years now 😁 I fucking LOVE Kittie, they are so underrated 🤘🔥 I think they are more metal Hardcore.... also I think they lost little popularity after first two albums because they switched to different kind of metal!
Loved the first album of Kittie back in the day. After that I unfortunately lost track of them, but this song is incredibly good, too! Excellent reaction, and I have to concur, i.e. you can't really classify this as nu metal. Why on earth would anyone do it?
I agree with you, oracle was the best album. After that their music just seemed like music that their new label wanted them to put out....it wasn't magical genuine emotion like oracle. I stopped listening after oracle.
Brilliant. Absolute game changer song for me back in the day. Have you seen any of Morgan's quarantine covers? This version of Carcass' Buried Dreams absolutely rips: ua-cam.com/video/dWMKxyJB-3k/v-deo.html

I agree with you. I think I mentioned something like that to my wife when I made her watch brackish. She loves Tatianna and Jinjer
Oh man I loved Kittie back in the day, her vocals, the heaviness, so good

Holy Crap me too Morgan and T Boz

My crush was Fallon and Left Eye... lol.
Morgan did rock the Tboz hair in Brackish tho!
Tboz that growl. 😊
Young talena absolutely beautiful
I saw them in concert way back in the day when they first hit the scene; amazing stage presence and flawless execution.
Lucky
got to see them twice once with otep and they were like a steam roller live.
You gotta listen to the new stuff!!!!! Morgan's voice is so unique and HEAVY!!! So happy KITTIE is BACK!!!

This is still one of my favourite songs. I was 15 when this came out, and it still hold up as a groovy metalcore song even now
I miss this band and this member lineup!
Talena, Fallon, Mercedes and Morgan! Such a fantastic lineup, honesty their best. I was so sad when Fallon and Talena left.
Man they are amazing! Such an underestimated band... They deserve more atention!
T, check out Wendy O Williams and the Plasmatics-"put your love in me" she was a beast before any other female.
Kittie just dropped 3 new singles this year. Go check em out!
I love this band. I love your videos.
Pioneers. Some of the most melodic thrash since Pantera.
You’re awesome!! Not too many people even know who they are which is a shame.
this band was and still is part of my life like they got me into metal when i first seen brackish back in the day....there more recent songs like my plague and whisper of death are two really good ones
Kittie played Nu Metal on their first album "Spit", but migrated towards METALCORE on the follow-up "Oracle" (which this song is from).
That’s very true
Oracle & Mouth full of poison almost sound like death metal
I went to Oz Fest in Columbus Ohio, maybe 98? Never heard of kitty until I seen them on the second stage. They absolutely blew me away LOL
Kittie was always kind of a brief FLASH in the metal scene. I never fricken understood their brief popularity. I always thought they rocked outloud.
Female fronted metal core. The progenitors of the genre. Paved the way for bands like butcher babies, the agonist and other.
It was crazy hearing these gals on fm radio
I think they made the radio but never made it to Mtv
@@TheAdventuresofTNT WAAF played them all the time. Late night mtv maybe.
Dude, if you haven’t heard Kittie’s “I’ve failed you” album you seriously need to check it out. They tear it the fuck down on that one 🤘

You should check some of theirs newest albums, now they added a lead guitarist and fits perfect.
Coal Chamber is a very similar sound. I recommend ‘not living’ off of the Strangeland soundtrack. It’s better than the album release In my opinion.

awesome reaction man, you should react to Coal Chamber's song Loco

Kittie looks here like an female version of Machine Head... :-D
😂❤👏👏👏
Yes, there's was a time THIS was what you stuffed in your sandwish.
It’s on the groove metal side. Def holds time with Deftones and Korn to a bit, but the band is more of a groove metal slot imo.
I think groove metal falls more on the side of Infectious Grooves and Body Count, and even they delved in thrash from time to time.

Kittie spit
I was a fan in middleschool. Do they not have a similar sound to Mushroomhead? Garbage to be sure, but this Kitty song's good. Just dislike Nu metal.
