i watched a video here that said to use yogurt as a starter...i really wanted it to work but it failed twice if i dont have to buy commericalized yeast i would love to use something of a natural starter if anyone happens to know kindly thank you :)
Hello yes adding yogurt is an Indian style of fermented rice. There are videos on UA-cam you can search Indian fermented rice good luck. I suggest you watch their videos and follow their procedure for it is different from Chinese fermented rice.

she did not add water...it produces its own liquid during fermentation ? i want to use yogurt or rejuvelac do u have any thoughts on that? i assume a packaged yeast is not as healthy am i right?
No you need that yeast; it is a mix of mold and yeast. The mold convert the starch to sugar and the yeast convert the suger to alchol. The sweetness of the end procuct is not due to the added sugar, the suger is more to activate the yeast. Yogert will not work.
