When they say God creates us in twos, they were not lying. Unfortunately, this woman has not been given the spotlight she deserves. She should be invited to various award shows to sing Whitney's hits, and we will have Whitney alive again.

@@ninamo7969, I disagree respectfully. If you listen and watch all of Glennis' cover of Whitney, no one has come so close. Singing with a soul is a gift you are born with, whether you are part of a gospel choir or not. Glennis has also done other covers by Mariah Carey and done them justice equally. Besides Stephanie Mills and Anita Baker, Whitney's songs are the most complicated of modern R&B singers. Glennis delivers each line and note effortlessly with the perfect tone. Even Whitney, in her later years, could not sing her songs as well as Glennis. Be well.

Soul music originated in the African American community and has its roots in African-American gospel music and rhythm and blues. Whitney & Donna both come from that Gospel background which ha(d)s a huge impact on their singing.
Whitney's live performances are mostly different from the album versions because live Whitney had no restrictions by record company people like Clive Davis. Clive wanted Whitney to sing more in pop music style and not sound too black on her records, because he thought Whitney would sell more singing in pop style.
Whitney always sang with her true hearth & soul and expressed that live best through her Gospel, Soul, old School R&B and Opera music background (all styles sung by family members like Cissy Houston, Dionne Warrick and Leontine Price).
Whitney's magnificent Saratoga Springs live version (link) of DWAHIA is the perfect example of that.

Whitney's on the same level as Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, Stephanie Mills, Chaka Khan and many other great singers.
Fact is that Whitney knew Aretha, Anita and many other greats from childhood on because Cissy Houston worked with them. As a teenager Whitney sang backing vocals on records of Chaka Khan (incl. Chaka's original version of 'I'm Every Woman) Lou Rawls, Neville Brothers, Roberta Flack and others.
Glennis wasn't born into the African American community and doesn't have its roots. Glennis often tries to emulate Whitney, but even then you can easily hear she comes from a different background.
Glennis can sing very well (no doubt about that), but Whitney without vocal issues was a very different and higher level. Glennis performances show her limits and that she could not peer with most Whitney performances.
Whitney's voice (before severe vocal issues) is much more silky, richer and powerful than Glennis's voice. Even if Glennis would always take very good care of her voice, she would still get vocal issues if she would do world tours and all the other work in between that Whitney did.
If you'd seen as many Whitney performances before and after her 1985 debut as I did, you'd hear the differences between Whitney and Glennis much better!

I hope with all my heart she can keep that powerful healthy timeless voice for at least the next decade, she just turned 40 and I regret not knowing about her for more than a year. The world needs to hurry up and make her a living legend.

I like how they stated it was unrehearsed and even if she wanted to do a cover of the song and possibly forgot a few words, she nailed it. Also all covers does not require creativity sometimes you just gotta cover it and it keep it moving. Also, she has her own music out that she's used her own creativity on some of you should look it up. Every knows doing a Whitney song, it should mostly remain the same especially if covering it lol aside from that she could have did an acoustic version of it, but job well done for a unrehearsed cover!

Glennis has her own style singing in Dutch or non-Whitney songs in English. With the Whitney songs she follows Whitney's style but that doesn't mean that's all she can do. Her interpretation of this song is actually hugely different than Whitney's.
