@@J.S.3259I keep thinking about the lady who owned a chimp that went crazy and ate her friend's face. That giant cat is not supposed to live in a suburban living room.
I have to agree with some of the other comments here, it just doesnt seem smart to intentionally tease and piss off a wild animal, and thw way the owner gets in his face after feeding him is clearly pissing it off, i saw one video where the owner had a stuffed cat and was putting in pumbas face and pumba kept attacking it and getting pissed. It may be fun now but when pumba decides hes had enough its gonna be a bad day for the owner. And i cant help but feel that actual house cat is probably stressed out when pumba is pissed off. There was a video where they were laying together until the owner came and got in pumbas face to make him hiss for the camera and then the actual house cat started freaking out and trying to get into another room
There a wild species with animal instincts Its not like food is just gonna plop down on them whenever they are hungry, they actually have to work for it
Yeah running away with the food is pretty annoying to him but he's not being tormented. And it was dropped when he got to a certain room so if anything this could be a way to get him exercise
There are videos of happy caracals out there with their owners, they don't just hiss when to communicate they make a lot of other sounds, the owner of this channel is just antagonizing their caracal for money and views.
@@diegoquezada3193 Its really gender dependent male Caracals tend to behave like an aggressive dog that growls/barks a lot but they hiss instead. I mean clearly they are stirring Pumba up for views but its no worse than someone who gets their dog barking.
At first I thought Pumba hissing and aggressive looking behavior was normal for those "cats" and while it is and it made me think that maybe I was in the wrong for thinking this was weird I eventually found other people videos where they have the same "pet" and they are less annoyed than this one, which in the end made me realize how this isn't exactly safe and not fully domesticated. While it's true they do hiss and all of that they never do it as much if they are truly used to you, there's no video of Pumba being not aggressive towards you. I'm not saying Pumba is going to attack, but he wouldn't be so defensive 24/7 if he was really used to your presence, I can't understand how people don't question it and I'm not someone who often goes and complain about what people do with pets that aren't actually pets neither I tend to adress something without the context, but seeing other people with this animal as pet I can't really say this is how he would behave if he was actually domesticated unless you only purposely share videos of Pumba hissing.
It is true that caracals do hiss to communicate, like Big Floppa hisses but you can 100% tell it is friendly; 9/10 percent of the time Pumbas hisses are NOT HAPPY one bit
nobody questions it because somehow everyone who watches it thinks universal animal behaviour of hissing and bearing your teeth is "friendly" You dont need to watch other vidoes. Its pretty obvious seeing how its hissing. There is 0 difference between the way it hisses at the end when its lunging at the camera and obviously trying to defend its food and when its just hissing in other vidoes and people say its being "friendly" These are not social animals, they have no "friendly" They either hiss at you or they don't, and if they hiss theyre telling you to leave. Its a warning. Idk who started it but god reading the comments on these videos pisses me off to see all the misinformation of people who have 0 clue- im not an animal expert either yeah but i dont think you need to be to tell when its litterally lunging at the camera half the time.
I wonder how common the playing games with food, dressing it in outfits, n putting a camera in its face is tho. Cats often used to act like they see demons in cameras (an guess who owns the tech; the demon race) . They hate outfits. An this one he's playing with it.
I'm not like sure of course but the sounds the normal cat is making also sound distressed, so it seems pretty clear it also thinks this is not some kinda "friendly" hiss convo.
Large cats can't be domesticated properly, with probably a few exceptions like cheetahs, which behave non-aggressively like domestic animals when raised in captivity, but not wide spread due to high upkeep requirements.
I know people are saying that caracals can only hiss so this cat isn't necessarily happy, by this is just blatantly untrue. Caracals can produce a range of vocalizations, and even if they couldn't, the body language more than gives away the cats emotions. The tucked tail and raised posture is a confident but frustrated cat. See how it growls even when the food is given? It is very clearly telling the human to go away, that it doesn't want to be near anyone while eating. As much as the floppa memes are funny, caracals and servals are wild animals. They are not even remotely social animals. The ancestor of the domestic cat, the African wildcat, will sometimes come near human settlements to hunt, showing that the potential for domestication is there. Caracals do not show this. These are solitary, wild animals, that do not belong in peoples houses no matter how much they look like cats. An animal like this is not only liable to spend much of its life stressed in captivity, but pose a real danger to the pets and people in a household. These are powerful cats that can send you to the hospital over a misunderstanding, and potentially kill a dog and even a baby or young child if provoked. There exists a wolf and wildcat you can have in your home, and it's called a dog and a cat. Don't be selfish and force wild animals into places they cannot thrive. - Another comment on a different video
