this sequence and the dialogue remind me of those missions in video games where you’re designed to fail. there’s no hacking it, no secret failsafe. the game is just made that way; you have to lose this bit for the story to progress. i love that the narrator is getting a kick out of it lol
That moment when the Narrator added extra time to the clock was pretty cruel, but it was also kinda cool. He’s just playing with you, delaying the inevitable, wanting to see you struggle longer. But it’s also great because we get to hear more of the brilliance of his voice acting. Seriously, the Narrator is the best part of the whole game.

This ending still gives me chills. The Narrator is genuinely evil in this ending. He's sadistic, just playing with you, laughing at your effort. He puts in a timer, adds extra time, and even all kinds of buttons and doors to give you the ILLUSION that you can do something to save yourself, to stop the inevitable... but you can't. It's all just a big joke. A way for the Narrator to laugh at you. "This isn't a challenge. It's a tragedy."

i love how he talks about how you'll retry it to see if you did something wrong, because its absolutely true. i tried that ending multiple times looking for a secret code or something, but no...
fun fact, nothing does anything in that ending. so really the only secret is that he tells you how much fun he is having, watching you struggle and repeat this ending for an answer

As a writer, I, well, respect my characters quite a bit. I started with a tragedy, they lived their way to a beautiful ending where she grew and flourished and became someone beautifully kind and brave instead of the bitter, tragic hero I originally planned. And... I love that, so much. I adore her.

I just love that line so much. Of all the great lines in Stanley parable, that's the one that keeps running through my head.. "This is not a challenge, it's a tragedy." Such a freaking good game.
Some things are just like that. Everything that is challenging is worth attempting, but a challenge is only something you can win from. But it is no longer considered a challenge where the power dynamic in situations is too unbalanced, and you realize that you can never win. It is futility.
I think it would have been funnier if the open door would have led to a hallway leading back into the countdown room from the very same door. Would have said something about the futility of your decisions.
damn, this scene gave me the shivers. It really reminded me of the destruction in Portal, but this time.. there was nothing to struggle for.. and I tried it several times before I realized it.. that was when another shiver went down my spine

So I have a crazy idea. The narrator says "will you cling onto your life, or will you die peacefully. Another choice." What if standing around, doing nothing, causes the narrator to say something different. He also says that he likes to see you struggle, so maybe he'll be confused if you don't. Idk, it's just a theory
To quote the Narrator: "That timer isn't a catalyst to keep the action going, it's just seconds ticking away to your death." You cannot stop it. The Narrator knows this, he just wants to see you desperately try to stop the bomb despite there being no way.
Before I found out nothing can stop it, I thought the off button would. When I was watching playthroughs of this game I was so frustrated because no one tried it.
I invented a character based off of this facet of the Narrator's character alone. Her name's Dahlia. I haven't written her story yet, but I draw her sometimes. She gets creepier looking once she shows her true colors.
The funny thing is, there actually *is* a video game character named Dahlia who is an evil mastermind and who gets creepier and creepier looking once you get closer to solving her schemes (those blank white eyes are a nightmare fuel). Dahlia Hawthorne from "Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulation". Behind her saccharine façade she's so unhinged and unapologetically evil, even Devil wouldn't fuck her.
I still remember this ending from the original iteration of the game when it was just a mod using Half Life 2 assets, and what a mindfuck it was when the narrator correctly predicted that as soon as the countdown started I'd try interacting with everything in the room.
when he adds time to the clock. just another bit to add to the illusion. that extra minute makes you think you're missing something and you still have a chance. the room even screams "final boss arena" with a center piece shortcut to get to other buttons more easily

The credits ending is my favorite, for the sheer perfection of the execution! It breaks the boundaries of the parable’s uniformity, meaning you never see the second narrator coming and it’s such a powerful statement because of that. Though there’s one thing I’ve learned: time does not decide for you; time just helps you decide how you spend it. I decided to spend every single ending getting crushed, and pausing a moment in the black nothingness, where there was nothing but time left.
Honestly with the two endings where he actually got what he wanted like the regular ending and the sending ending (before Stanley killed himself) in both occasions he wanted peace and happiness so I think he isn’t

On the one hand, it would be awesome if the Ultra Deluxe edition implements a way to solve this "puzzle", but it would also defeat the purpkse and message of this ending. That you can't beat the Stanley Parable. That your only real choice is not to play the game.
The narrator is definitely cruel and evil but isn’t Stanley also a bit immoral. Think about it, Stanley chose to try and gain control and assuming Stanley’s memory doesn’t remember the other endings. Stanley is definitely upset that he was enslaved essential but he was perfectly fine with doing it to his fellow worker and if this was in real life (and yes I know it’s just a game and not really questioning anybody morales) it would be a story about a man who betrayed his own coworkers just so he could be the one in charge.
Somebody checked the voice file and there wasn't any narrations continue with the countdown ending. All the symbols and signs are just a tease. Hope somebody come up with the mind control ending.

I would pay good money to Kevan Brighting to have him make a lecture like this for Donald Trump...He used to be powerful and controlling, but is degenerating into a powerless madman, screaming on his social media, pushing every legal "button" in a vain attempt to stop the mounting evidence of his crimes, as the clock ticks ever closer to the end of his political career.

It's your story now; shape it to your heart's desires. Ooh, this is much better than what I had in mind! What a shame we have so little time left to enjoy it. Mere moments until the bomb goes off, but what precious moments each one of them is! More time to talk about you, about me, where we're going, what this all means...I barely know where to start! What's that? You'd like to know where your co-workers are? A moment of solace before you're obliterated? Alright. I'm in a good mood. You're going to die anyway. I'll tell you exactly what happened to them: I erased them. I turned off the machine; I set you free. Of course, that was merely in this instance of the story. Sometimes when I tell it, I simply let you sit there in your office forever, pushing buttons endlessly and then dying alone. Other times, I let the office sink into the ground, swallowing everyone inside; or I let it burn to a crisp. I have to say this, though, this version of events has been rather amusing. Watching you try to make sense of everything and take back the control wrested away from you...it's quite rich. I almost hate to see it go! But I'm sure whatever I come up with on the next go around will be even better. My goodness! Only 34 seconds left...but I'm enjoying this so much! You know what? To hell with it. I'm going to put some extra time on the clock; why not! These are precious additional seconds, Stanley. Time doesn't grow on trees! Oh, dear me, what's the matter, Stanley? maybe the the colors represent the DNA and the numbers go in some particular order for instance when the screen says blue 5 could mean a 5 digit sequence to that dna strand color
You dont use it, for exemple, theres a red button near the door where you turn the machine 'on'. When it says '0001' you press 1 and go for the red button, then 0521 -> you press 5 2 1 then go for the red button, once you do this the monitor will ask you to set up the backup power generator. Now we just need to figure out how to do that

Before I found out nothing can stop it, I thought the off button would. When I was watching playthroughs of this game I was so frustrated because no one tried it.
I invented a character based off of this facet of the Narrator's character alone. Her name's Dahlia. I haven't written her story yet, but I draw her sometimes. She gets creepier looking once she shows her true colors.
The funny thing is, there actually *is* a video game character named Dahlia who is an evil mastermind and who gets creepier and creepier looking once you get closer to solving her schemes (those blank white eyes are a nightmare fuel). Dahlia Hawthorne from "Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulation". Behind her saccharine façade she's so unhinged and unapologetically evil, even Devil wouldn't fuck her.

I still remember this ending from the original iteration of the game when it was just a mod using Half Life 2 assets, and what a mindfuck it was when the narrator correctly predicted that as soon as the countdown started I'd try interacting with everything in the room.
when he adds time to the clock. just another bit to add to the illusion. that extra minute makes you think you're missing something and you still have a chance. the room even screams "final boss arena" with a center piece shortcut to get to other buttons more easily

The credits ending is my favorite, for the sheer perfection of the execution! It breaks the boundaries of the parable’s uniformity, meaning you never see the second narrator coming and it’s such a powerful statement because of that.
Though there’s one thing I’ve learned: time does not decide for you; time just helps you decide how you spend it.
I decided to spend every single ending getting crushed, and pausing a moment in the black nothingness, where there was nothing but time left.

I have to say this, though, this version of events has been rather amusing. Watching you try to make sense of everything and take back the control wrested away from you...it's quite rich. I almost hate to see it go!

Kevan Brighting didn't need to deliver this badass of a monologue for a game that's meant to be amusing, but he certainly did, and I respect it. Especially with the killer music, this ending is probably the best in my opinion.

maybe the the colors represent the DNA and the numbers go in some particular order for instance when the screen says blue 5 could mean a 5 digit sequence to that dna strand color

You dont use it, for exemple, theres a red button near the door where you turn the machine 'on'.
When it says '0001' you press 1 and go for the red button, then 0521 -> you press 5 2 1 then go for the red button, once you do this the monitor will ask you to set up the backup power generator.
Now we just need to figure out how to do that
