It's been said before, but man - you don't get games like this vs. East Carolina, Tulane + other AAC conference games. Those were some dark days. Nothing like Big East basketball. Thrilling game to say the least.
The second half, Diarra - California sequence says it all about UConn - weapons. This team excites. Don't take anything away from Georgetown. They are coached well and the game was reminiscent of past Big East battles. Rock fight. Georgetown came to play, and UConn started off slow again. There needs to be a sense of urgency to hit first at the tip. Was nice to see Akok get 10 for GU. A part of me wants him to still be at UConn. California was sensational, and that California one hand bucket is ESPY worthy. Newt Dogg had a big game with 17 points. Nice assist to Jackson. Hawkins had a Jerome Dyson volume scoring day - needs to be more efficient especially against weaker competition. When Johnson comes back, oh wait, and see, the 100 point games coming! UConn is going to win the National Championship this year. There's no doubt about it. Now, like boxing it's just about knocking out each opponent until March Madness here we come to cut down those nets and confetti on the big screen. There is no team that is better!
Coach Ewing is a fantastic black coach. Heart and soul of GU. I only wish him the best in everything he does. He's a good man and that's all that matters.
Lol, at least it wasn't 22 in the conference. Hahaha. :) Lay off of Ewing; Jordan made his life hell on the basketball court. I got sympathy for Ewing. Lol.
Surprised Georgetown is 5-7, they dominated the boards and have some serious athletes (even though they don’t protect the ball very well). I think Ewing just isn’t a very good coach.
Joey California somehow reminds me a lot of a certain woman who wore number 3 and was magic with the rock, and who also was from SoCal...Diana Taurasi. That one handed scoop da hoop...not even Odell Beckham Jr. could do something like that! UCONN Men...WE BACK, BABY!
They needed that scare. Gave them a reality check and to know they can fight back. Newton had a great first half scoring and dishing. Hassan and Joey were amazing in the second half.
@@whitneybosco6186 it got INCREDIBLY loud (loudest since Florida 2019 my freshman year I think, having been there for that too?) once the run started, but before that, pretty quiet from my POV sitting quite literally in the front row. I get that the team wasn't playing great, but the students around me were being pretty brutal when it came to cheers before the run is all. Would love the rest of the students to be that loud from tip and not only when we start to play well!!
