Was the boom operator on this sick short. Shoutout to Espen the lead actor, JOLO the sound mixer, the two writers of this short, and of course all the beans we ate. Fun times were had by all. Funny final product.
Love this film. So reminds me of church camps at school. Thinking back to those times now I realise that's where I last felt really safe. And at the time I just wanted to grow up and explore the world. More recently I read somewhere: 'A ship is safe in harbour - but that's not what ships are made for' .At least we can always know that we are never alone on our journey. But what fun we had in the harbour! So funny how Madison gets carried away each time she sings - totally fearless!
Hi! I’m the director of the film. I’m seeing some comments so I want to clear some things up. The film is neither an endorsement or demonizing the church. I wanted to make a film that was comedic and heartfelt in this environment that is so often portrayed as doom and gloom. Here’s my full director’s statement. A good portion of my childhood was spent in church camps, both as a camper and as a counselor. Like many LGBTQ youth, I struggled with being bisexual while also being involved in church life and enjoying the community that came from church. It was important to me to tell a story about a bisexual male protagonist as it's not a community that's depicted as often, and what better time to release the film online than bisexuality visibility week. I also wanted to do a story about church and sexuality that was comedic in nature, as many LGBTQ stories feature trauma and drama in the forefront of their depictions of queer people. Church camps, with their sometimes silly activities and traditions, make them a ripe place for comedy, and most of this film stems from the real experiences I had in a Georgia church camp (even a full-sized Jesus made of bread.) I hope that all churches become a safe place for LGBTQ youth and that people can laugh at the quirky church-isms that graced their childhoods by watching this film.
Why do we feel our sexual being needs to be announced or declared? Is it because we feel we're "bad," we must confess from a feeling of guilt? The girl with dry hands would not feel she must announce to the world that she has dry hands. Our sexuality, whatever it is, is not a flaw, it's just who we are. BTW, I have dry hands, too.
If you are gay and a guy likes you, how can he know if it is cool to approach you? Or if you fall in love with a straight friend and he wonders "why are you always looking at me like that?" Or vice versa, your best friend is a girl and she develops feelings for you? Wouldn't you have to talk about it so you can understand each other and go on being friends instead of being weird with each other? Or if you fall in love and you want to talk about it with your best friend. How can you keep your personal life secret from your friends?
@@croussant One's sexuality is not a choice, nor do you have to confess whatever it is. It is personal. The only person that needs to know is the person who is attracted to you. Not your parents, your siblings, or the world. I find it bizarre that in the US thee is his notion of 'coming out' . WTF, why? Why does anyone have to confess what your masturbatory fantasies are. Just bizarre thi American fetish with self disclosure.
The casting was gifted, the young actors just superb. Setting Josh's inner conflict against his religious indoctrination makes the intensity needed to understand the depth of his pain quite available. The point that. everyone (glove wearer) has a secret, a deep secret, so why the focus on sexuality?
Being gay remains a challenge especially during the teenage years. So sorry that so many people have to put up with all sorts of religious bigotry as well. There are no gods, guys.
@@pendragonsxskywalkers9518 No one has been able to prove that any of the 2 thousand or so known gods don't exist so it's going to take you a long time to pray to all of them every night. You really don't have time to watch youtube!

Church camp is where many kids lose their V-cards. Sometimes the counselors participate or at least look the other way. See no evil. hear no evil. speak no evil. :-)
The fact that a prayer request card is read openly in front of others without your permission is wrong and disrespectful to that person. Prayers are silent messages to God and that's the beauty of prayer. I wouldn't join this Christian camp that's for sure.
They already knew they were going to be read out so no one would have put anything really personal on them. What interests me is that's your problem, not the fact that all these young people are being indoctrinated in any religion instead of being left to make up their own minds. Brainwashing is what I call it.
If they all actually believe what they were singing, (and I don't see why they wouldn't), it should not matter if Josh is gay or bi. Reading prayer cards aloud seems contrary to Jesus' advice to go into your closet and pray quietly, rather than making a "big splash" in public.
You do all know Jesus was gay.... 33 years spent with 12 mates... John the special friend Jesus loved the most. 1 Samuel 18: 1-3 all about two men David and Jonathan who loved each other so much their souls became one, and they made a covenant of love between them, which was the old name of marriage. In 2 Samuel The bible even calls the love between these two men WONDERFUL ... no where else in the bible does it call the love between a man and woman Wonderful. Leviticus condemnation of man laying with man, has the context of condemning sex acts in pagan orgies christians were never invited to. Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed 2000 years before the very first time homosexuals were implicated in the destruction in 50AD by two crapy Jewish writers, Philo and Josephus, trying to drum up readership.
Whether gay or not, he didn't bother to say anything to reverse the stoning of gay people to death. And never said slavery was wrong. 2 thousand years of horrific suffering that could have been averted with a couple of soundbites. Sounds kind of evil to me.
@@snufkinmatt162 I agree with your sentiments... but I was unaware homosexuals were stoned to dead back in Jesus day.... Just as a point of interest google search Matthew 5:27-28 and see the biblical definition of adultery,...... with Leviticus 20:10, Deuteronomy 22:22, John 8:3-11, Proverbs 6:32, Luke 16:18 and Corinthians 6:9 demanding adulterers be put to death. You can see why the heterosexual christians wanted everyone to focus on condemning homosexuals rather than on their adultery.

Bisexual = a gay person who, out of fear of other people's reaction, prefers to declare that he is bi, because society will accept it better than if he just said that he is gay. Otherwise it is good short movie, light funny with cute Espen Brante.

Wrestling with God over our sexuality, yet our sexuality shouldn't describe or label us, but people do...
