In this episode of Wild Women the world’s fastest flying woman, Ellen Brennan, talks about the risks and rewards of the dangerous pursuit of wingsuit flying. Her interview gives us an unprecedented look into an often misunderstood sport and puts a very human face on what appears to be a superhuman feat.
Ellen started BASE jumping in 2006 and after many hours of practice and countless jumps she graduated to wingsuit flying in 2008. Since then she has dedicated much of her life to the sport, moving to Europe and making the Alps her playground.
"It's so rewarding to do something you're not meant to do," Ellen says of wingsuit flying. "You're doing what the birds do... and you're seeing everything from a different perspective."

She's like a real life superhero! How could you not admire her courage? So awesome
I think the first jump from an airplane has to be the hardest, then it becomes easier as they push for the base jumps and eventually the suits. It takes many jumps and a lot of parachutes folding to get where she is. At some point, I expect it becomes an addiction. That speed and what seems to be an incredible experience puts everyone of these jumpers, in a category, all of their own. We can only guess how they feel, but I doubt we can come close. They are a tight group who graciously take the risks, while living to the fullest. Respect is due, as it is all we can offer them.
Hey dude I hope you made it to 2022🙏😍
That smile in the end... Just wow.. So happy 😃
Incredibly inspirational.
probably the most instructive vid i have seen on this sport, great 2c the ecstasy she showed during n after the flight
i have to get this done before i turn 30!
+Adam Wallace You do any skydiving yet?
+Permafried Braj no not yet. all just a pipe dream
It takes many sky diving jumps, then base jumps before you venture into the suit. It is not anything you do lightly. It is a life long commitment. It is expensive as most people do not have sponsors until they get really good. Ellen's dad used to take her jumping. She had the connections as she started skydiving at 18. Amateurs get killed quickly and also endanger others around them. It is not to be taken lightly.
Have you gone skydiving yet? I too want to fly a wing suit someday. I've done one skydive and twelve minutes in a wind tunnel. Ready for aff this spring. Don't wait on your dreams
38 Skydives now.
brave act to cherish for life , please post an video to analyze weather conditions , wind semantics given a particular flight day.
So inspiring..this is what ive wanted to do since I was a little boy...and I WILL do it in a few years:)
have you done it
@@hemchandvydarsu8567 Guess not. lol
I miss it so much. I need to get back here.

Yeah if you dedicate your money and time towards it. And have a set of brass balls. I don't see why you couldn't
how the shadows affect the air?
Cold air forms below you with a shadow. Hot air rises, cold air falls. Getting so close to the ground that your shadow affects your fall rate is just insane.
She's not talking about her shadow. She's talking about shadows in the terrain. Shadows created by an outcropping of rock when the sun is in a certain position, for example. Your shadow doesn't create air currents as it doesn't have time to affect the ground temperature.
@@eddiex360 Your shadow does not affect any fall rate.
@@sergeig685 I was told by some reputable proximity flyers that the shadow can sink you out...
@@eddiex360 Shadowed terrain - sure. Not your own shadow.
I love it!
where is this?
I SO WANT TO DO THAT!!
Spectacular living, live long!
Ellen BRAVISSIMA! Now you must visit us on Catinaccio/Rosengarten, Sudtirol, Italy!!!!!!
such a brave girl! You are a bird :)
Me encanta el parapente
WHY 3 MIN INTRO????
el final lo dice todo 4:11 esa cara de orgasmo
I think I love you!
Bottom line , you have to follow your bliss. She is packing a lot of living in her short years. Her choice and her life. Pushing the envelope is one way to amplify the quality of that precious time, doing what you love. Congrats for her title. She is just great !
I was gonna say the same thing as synclife. I just fell in love with this awesome chick I've never met
keep going :)
Yo necesito una chica como ella.
I don't care where we go!

I hope l can try this adrenaline injection in my life! I would like that!😍
For proximity-flying that risk now stands at one in twenty.
i wanna live
Trust a woman to give it a new perspective '-stay safe 😊
Take care pretty lady. .........

Wingsuit flying is probably better than sex.
i agree
Sex is basic and overrated by cro-magnons.
yes, a lot of pros and only one con - but that con is the big one - certain death when you have a bad day or the conditions go against you. So many great and skilled wingsuiters have died. Is it really worth the adrenaline rush to end your life ? you only get one life. There is no heaven or hell. there is nothing when you die. you don't even know you are dead. you cease to exist. your family is grieving and all your loved ones will ask - why ? why did she risk everything for thrills ?
a greater and more rewarding journey than jumping off a cliff is the journey within yourself. you don't need adrenaline for that.
u do otherwise people wouldnt do it
Because you came back from the dead and lived to tell? LoL. Don't even pretend you know what you're talking about.
Anyone with such a certainty that when you die you cease to exist as you are presently is right, but only in the present biological sense and not mentioning you feeding the worms or going up in flames - are you only biological well here's your start.
Exactly, you only get one life, so get out there and live it to the max while you can!
Aren't you just Mr sunshine. Probably single and living in your mom's basement aren't you.
:)
No yoga pants?!?!😲😲😲😲 That's pretty wild. Yoga pants aren't attractive to me at all. I like the women that are different from the popular crowd.
Долгая речь! это не то!
let me guess, what was the con ? instant death ? another detail is about folding your only chute, very, very cautiously as, if it does not open, you are dead.
Seems like a safe sport. roughly 95%of Wing suit pilots did NOT die. I'm not going to do it, but we need Darwin awards contestants, so go for it.
Anytime someone mentions a Darwin award it makes me wish their parents had got one
you do realise you need multiple skydiving licenses and hundreds of jumps to even take a wingsuit flight course? this isn't just a bunch of idiots with no back knowledge
