This was the first song that my gran and grandad once danced to for their 70th anniversary. The first time I heard it was as it was played during his funeral. I don’t think I’ve ever cried as much as I did that entire service. I can’t help but shed a few tears whenever hearing this song but they are no longer tears of sadness but tears of appreciation. It’s nearly coming up to the 1 year anniversary since his passing and I would give anything for him to just see how far I have come in growing up, growing physically and mentally. I think he would be proud. I may never meet anyone as interesting and funny as him. I would give anything to have one more conversation with him. We miss you grandad ❤

I bought the Ray Charles album that sold the most copies - his COUNTRY WESTERN album. I played that album so much (as my every favorite) all the way through high school. I would put my arms in a circle and pretend I was dancing around the room with my one true love. What INCREDIBLE MEMORIES!!! I love this song as my two sisters and I sang it before 5,000 in the Austin City Dome.
As a fledgling freelance photographer , I found out Charles was singing at an outdoor venue nearby . I finagled my way getting a press pass, and got two more for brother and sis , told them they were writers, lol . I got to shoot photos of Ray Performing from the front row , no flash of course ! i even went backstage after the show , dragged bro and sis backstage too . got to meet Ray . i'm tearing up, sorry. sweet experiences that have eluded me as i grow older....
In 1968, I was eight years old, and my Mother took me to see Ray Charles in concert at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, California, and this song brings back such wonderful memories. I remember screaming for RC to singing this piece, and he sang it just like this recording. This was about two years before I discovered opera, but I still love Ray Charles, The Platters, and the The Beatles not other for their beautiful music, but for the priceless memories.

Bruce Maclennan the people that thumbs down this song, have no clue about love and they're probably cold hearted prejudiced people. and I'll put money on it that they can't sing either.
In a world where many singers shout, and sound alike, we will always have, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Al Bowlly, Johnny Cash, and of course Ray Charles - talent still means something

So when certain Black artists see Elvis doing something that they were doing all along, of course they would be bitter. It's a fact not an opinion.
Now your trying so hard to pick out Black artists who you consider "stole" White music. Personally that's your hill to die on. All I know that Ray didn't steal Gibson's music like you assumed. Matter of fact, like Dolly/Whitney situation, Gibson was glad that he sung a song he written. My original comment was about the greatness of Ray Charles, you tried to belittle him. History has proven you wrong because he was an influence in American music and culture.

LYRICS
(I can't stop loving you)
I've made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
(I can't stop wanting you)
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life in dreams of yesterday
(Dreams of yesterday)
Those happy hours that we once knew
Tho' long ago, they still make me blue
They say that time heals a broken heart
But time has stood still since we've been apart
(I can't stop loving you)
I've made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
(I can't stop wanting you)
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life in dreams of yesterday
(Those happy hours)
Those happy hours
(That we once knew)
That we once knew
(Tho' long ago)
Tho' long ago
(Still make me blue)
Still ma-a-a-ake me blue
(They say that time)
They say that time
(Heals a broken heart)
Heals a broken heart
(But time has stood still)
Time has stood still
(Since we've been apart)
Since we've been apart
(I can't stop loving you)
I said I made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
(I can't stop wanting you)
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life of dreams of yesterday
(Of yesterday)

I heard this song on the radio and can't get it out ofmy mind. What a beautiful sad song.
Gives me the shivers. So many memories. Living my life on dreams of yesterday. Peace
I love this song as my two sisters and I sang it before 5,000 in the Austin City Dome.
my name is michael william,i bring you glad tidings
As a fledgling freelance photographer , I found out Charles was singing at an outdoor venue nearby . I finagled my way getting a press pass, and got two more for brother and sis , told them they were writers, lol . I got to shoot photos of Ray Performing from the front row , no flash of course ! i even went backstage after the show , dragged bro and sis backstage too . got to meet Ray . i'm tearing up, sorry. sweet experiences that have eluded me as i grow older....
Ray Charles - An American treasure. Thank you, Ray, for droppin' your amazing aura on the rest of us lucky recipients of your art.
The vocals! the back up singers! the instrumentals! Pure Genus! Sing the song Ray!
You're right! The genius of brother Ray.
Yep you're right...but this is the Nicest version....Sing the song Ray and Children!!!
yes dear.
..and a haunting melody.
Oui , tout est beau , c' est de la perfection.
I can't stop loving this song!
In 1968, I was eight years old, and my Mother took me to see Ray Charles in concert at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, California, and this song brings back such wonderful memories. I remember screaming for RC to singing this piece, and he sang it just like this recording. This was about two years before I discovered opera, but I still love Ray Charles, The Platters, and the The Beatles not other for their beautiful music, but for the priceless memories.
um dos maiores clássicos da música internacional de todos os tempos. canção lindíssima, inesquecível. vozes maravilhosas e instrumental monstruosamente magnifico.
I can’t stop loving this song!
Truth
Amen!!
I can't stop loving.
The song only says what I was feeling way back then. Nothing's changed for me since then.
Play I can't stop
My husband always played this song for me and it brings back so many memories for us thank you
Don't understand why anybody would thumb down this beautiful song - which will probably be around long after most of today's "music" has fizzled out.
Who knows, maybe something bad happened to them while they listened to this song long time ago...maybe
I don't understand it either. This song is food for the heart and I guess a lot of idiots out there are starving to death!
Bruce---You are so right, I suggest the thumbs down people put their thumbs right up their A**
Bruce Maclennan the people that thumbs down this song, have no clue about love and they're probably cold hearted prejudiced people.
and I'll put money on it that they can't sing either.
Well said!!
In a world where many singers shout, and sound alike, we will always have, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Al Bowlly, Johnny Cash, and of course Ray Charles - talent still means something
Beautiful song with such sentiment and emotion. ❤️
metropolis brought me here, good movie
Same for me. That ending is gorgeous.
Spotify’s Daily’s mix brought me here but I’ll definitely check that film out it looks sick

I'm Mexican and my dad loves this song, he taught me about this music, I'm so grateful to be his son 🙂
I was 8 years old in 1962 and was brought up listening to Mr Charles and it still sounds as beautiful today as it did way back then - how lucky am I to be listening to music this fantastic all of my life?? xx
I must have heard this song dozens of times....yet I want to hear it again and again
Timeless music that never gets old. It sure takes me back to a summer a long time ago.
