Absolutely gorgeous. With Sequential incorporating Wavetables in the Pro 3 I really hope we’ll see a Polyphonic synth with VCOs and Wavetables combined like Dave did with the Evolver. They also included all the Prophet VS waves in the Prophet X’s sample engine and I love recreating a lot of VS sounding patches with it....still would be nice to have a dedicated Sequential synth for those glassy sharp tones.
@@No_Nag My fear is that with the Focusrite merger they might just delegate Sequential to doing analog only while keeping Novation separate for wavetable/FM/samples type stuff. Since the merger Sequential has only done analog synths (Take 5, Trigon 6)
@@EverettDudgeon138 Time will tell. But Sequential have had their success with digital to. So see it hard to disappear. Evolvers, Pro 2, pro 12. X... I would like to see a "Wavestation" drop out of the factory.
Agreed. I always hoped they would evolve the Prophet 12 more in this direction with vector control too (and maybe a state variable filter Obie style). We can only hope.
Arguably the greatest hybrid synth ever made! The filters are spectacular as you make clear, but the whole package is simply superb. It sound absolutely dynamic!
Did you try the Prophet 12? It's very close. Somewhat gentler with a slightly more modern sound. I had the same experience with it as you did with the VS. In the shop I found it harsh and too loud. But after spending hours reprogramming the presets and dialing back effects, OSC volume etc. it started to open up for me. 12 voices, a fantastic user interface and a resonant high pass filter to boot!
Awesome demo! When you say the CEM's overheat, did the VS just shut off? Mine does this (just shuts off randomly), even after replacing the power supply with the same one you have from Synthronics!
Yes. there are two CEM5530 that get hot. when they get to hot they either just stop for the moment or go bust... so get heat sinks on them. theres also smaler cem5510(?) which get hot too...
Then maybe this synth is not for you. The P5 sounds awesome in its own right. I would say that this has other qualities. Sure no polymod and no sync but the fact that you have 4 oscillators at your disposal makes up for some.

Yeah. Interesting to see what pops out next. 🤗

the sound of science fiction
Welcome back J
Great demo - the VS sounds fantastic
Thank you!
Yeah, it's been a while 🙄😂
What a beast! I have a Prophet X with the VS waveforms, but it doesn’t sound the same and lacks a joystick. I‘d love a VS reissue!
The first times I tried it I was'nt so impressed. But then I got the chance to have some real time with it. Amazing is all I can say 🤗
Best Prophet ever 🤩
Thank you for your sound demo of the synth! I wish I had one my self.
Yepp! Everyone should have one 😁
pretty sure the preset around 10:30 is what trent reznor used on "that's what I get"
If so, that is very Cool 🤗
Sounds great!! What a synth 🎹
@7:40 is what it’s all about right? Sick

I have the Pro2 and I absolutely love that synth. I sure would like to have a Prophet 12.
@@No_Nag I had a Pro2 but really wanted the extra voices. Luckily I found a P12 soon after that wasn't too pricey. I never looked back since.
@@Bananskuden I'm going for a Novation Summit next. I'd like to compare those two next to eachother.
The 12 and VS are not in the same ball park. I owned both. Different animals.
@@joncasey9339 They both have digtial waves and same-ish type of analog filters. How much is the chorus part of the VS sound?
Can these patches be recreated on the Beringer VS and sound close to the original?
@@jarekkotek2719 I haven't tried the B. VS so I can't say. But I believe you can come "close".
@@No_Nag I'm hopping for your B VS collection then :) thank you

I don’t hear anything that sounds better than the P5

I prefer this
Similar, but VS is like a P5 on LSD.
