Pepe smith that’s a good point. I don’t know how many movies I’ve watch or placed on my to be watch list because of a collector spoke about and made it enticing, rather than just list as a movie they liked or recommend.
These types of videos are great at introducing new films that I maybe wouldn't have discovered otherwise. I also very much like to hear peoples reason to buy and watch certain films, regardless of it simply being because "the cover looked interesting" or if it was a more thoughtful decision. I agree with you Michael, sharing some thoughts about a film really help it seem more enticing, rather than just list each title in a collection
I will be working on more in-depth videos on the collection soon, so strap in for that 6 hour video! Joking aside, it will probably be split up into more manageable bitesize videos.
“As all collectors know, if something has a spine number it makes you want to collect more.” Truer words have never been spoken, hahaha! Awesome overview of an incredible collection, Elliot! I thoroughly enjoyed watching you share your collection. Thank you for this!
I had to give up on that right away, because out of all Criterion, Arrow, and other labels like that, I usually want to see and buy only 1 out 25 of their releases.
Hi Eliot, I’d most definitely be interested in watching, (although maybe in numerous sittings) 😂 Both yourself and the enigmatic Daisuke are relentlessly making these dark days a little brighter for us all.... Thank you, my friend 👍
Wow, what an awesome collection! Absolutely love the way you've organized everything, it has such a clean and even look to it. I especially loved that Plain Archive edition of Incendies, I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for that online as it's such a great movie. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Thank you so much for checking it out, it's good to have you here on the channel! I wholeheartedly recommend the Plain Archive releases if you can pick them up. I need to get more myself. Cheers :)
never will have such a great collection bbbuuutttttt I just ordered arrow videos vengeance trilogy boxset which i ordered just a min ago. And eventhough I cant buy as many blu rays as you can im still super grateful for the beautiful blu rays i get to have. Have a nice day!
I love the look of your collection - so much nicer than the sort of overflowing 'little bit of everything' collections you see so often (and which I am also guilty of)
It's like looking at my own collection, except BFI, and Second run. But I have a load of 88 films and I've just started with Vinegar Syndrom. I also keep them wrapped until I watch the discs, it just makes sense!
Great collection, so cool seeing a young person so open mined and watching old flicks and movies that are not all UK/USA modern mainstream stuff, keep on collecting.
As for your new unwrapped/unwactched blu rays, I know exactly where you're coming from. Last year I streamed Play Misty for Me, an old favorite of mine I had not seen in decades. I loved it so much after new viewing that I purchased it on blu ray disc a few weeks ago....and it's still shrink wrapped unopened; I look forward to unwrapping and watching the disc probably six months or so from now.
I watched a few videos where people show off their collection one cube at a time. It takes months but it makes for an interesting series. That way you only have a dozen of so movies to cover each video.
I loved this, and answered the question of how you organize everything. I set things by genre and theme, which takes forever to figure out but makes the transitions cool to figure out and makes me watch the new stuff.
Ive wanted n waited, it feels like forever for one of these. I love people's collection tours!! And i have admired your collection for as long as ive been watching your video's. P.S. If you dont mind me asking. Do you know roughly how many films you have? And... Where did you get your bookcases from because they are perfect!!
Thanks, Nathan! I hope it was worth the wait. I'm going to do a separate video on my shelves, actually. Many people have been asking. Oh, and I don't keep count of how many films I have but I'd estimate it's close to 2000. Thanks again for watching :)
@@ElliotCoen No, thank you so much for taking the time to share your collection. I throughly enjoyed it!! Awesome. I think you might have every Arrow Video blu-ray haha, quick question? Are you aiming for all the Masters of Cinema? Apologies if you said you had them all..im re-watching it now.
Hi Elliot, loved seeing your full collection overview. Even though I'm pretty certain it would have grown quite a bit since you posted this video! I subscribed to your channel a few weeks ago, and I am only just now deep diving through your video library and really enjoying the videos! It's nice to be educated a little bit about the different labels and some of the more obscure films, as sometimes I think a lot of collectors on UA-cam (myself included) just assume everyone knows everything. You have such a nice and warm delivery in your videos that keeps me engaged and wanting to watch more, almost like you are my friend and I am catching up with you. Keep up the great work on the channel, and congrats on nearly reaching 10K subs! Much deserved.
Hi Elliot. Wow, what an amazing collection and so well organized. Your shelves are an inspiration. I'm still in the process of organizing my collection so I have movies on multiple shelves in different locations including a drawer that contains my Halloween/Horror movies. Thanks for sharing your collection.
Thank you so much, Dave. I am glad you enjoyed seeing what's on my shelves. Your own collection is mighty fine. I loved seeing that video on your Criterion films recently.
Wow Ellot what a great collection you have... You buy blu ray as I do here in the USA and I am a real hunter for the special editions... great video as usual! Congrats!
Just subbed to you the other day, exactly what I look for in a collector! Collecting the obscure and arty films :) really getting into criterion myself. Great collection man!
Elliot, 2 questions. What is that Third Man box set on the top left shelf? Is that the Studio Canal 4K restoration, but with an extra book or something? Also, I spotted Eureka 191 “No Way Out”. Have you ever watched that? I believe that it is one of the best movies ever to promote the vision of Martin Luther King that people should be treated as individuals and by the content of their character, and not by their group identity. That is also the movie that launched Sidney Poitier’s career. Richard Widmark is great, and I think that Linda Darnell shows high level acting as well. You should review this truly great, but often overlooked film sometime.
WolfGratz Thank you very much. Do you happen to know if those discs are region-free? I really hate region locking. There are so many great discs from Eureka and Indicator and Arrow and the BFI that I would love to get in the USA, but I haven’t invested in a region free blu-Ray player yet and I really don’t like to fool with region 2 locked in general. It works the other way too, of course. There are so many great blu-rays from Criterion and others in the USA which are region 1 locked.
@@iakona23 Without looking them up to be sure my listing is telling me the original Third Man is unlocked but it looks as if the 4 disc version is B. Sorry bout that. And you are right about Criterion of course. Although they do have some UK releases. That's why both my players are unlocked - although of course Criterion and other suppliers won't sell to me direct. Actually even Amazon US are being a bit difficult at the moment!
WolfGratz It’s really frustrating, because there is no reason that customers in the USA or UK should not be able to buy from either Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk. Thank you for the information on the disks and for your excellent points.
@@iakona23 Well normally I can buy most stuff from either Amazon. There are occasional issues, especially with third party sellers. I'm hoping things will get back to normal later. Also I managed to get Barnes and Noble to ship again so that was handy.
Wow, what an impressive collection, my friend. You certainly have a great taste in cinema. I also have Napoleon, the Roy Andersson collection and the Late Mizoguchi boxset and we can consider ourselves very lucky to have them. Only top quality titles there, sir. Criterion, Arrow, Eureka, Indicator... Charlie's Angels??!!!! Anyway, thank you for showing it. Take care!
Hi Elliot, Thanks for sharing your blu ray collection. I would like to see your Criterion Collection, Indicator, Second Run and BFI titles in detail. My Collection is very small! Only about 150 titles so far, mainly from Criterion Collection. I am very interested to start collecting some free region titles from Second Run and Indicator. Have a nice weekend.
Wonderful Collection Elliot!!! Currently going over my wishlist looking to get the Before Trilogy and The Friends Of Eddie Coyle ii my probably gonna get carried away and grab some more
Great collection Elliot. Sorry if this question has already been asked but... where do you source region A Criterion blu-rays from? Since Barnes & Noble have stopped shipping to the UK it has been harder to get region A titles at a reasonable price.
Amazing video Elliot! It was such a pleasure to watch all of this. I started with an Amazon tab open to add some to my collection, but realize I will have to study more of this video before I commit anything! 😂 I am impressed by your Indicator and Arrow titles, I am very behind on what films I still need to check out! Thanks for the video and a 6-hour video, is fine imo ;)
Ah, thanks so much, Nathan! Always just send me a message if you ever want any more info on films or any recommendations. Great work on your channel lately, by the way!
Nice collection! I keep my blu ray and dvd collection in booklets. But hey...a collection is a collection whether it's on the shelf or in booklets. I have an abundance of movies and videos games.
@@ElliotCoen I actually just go out to Best Buy or Target to buy my movies or I order them online...I never collect. Sucks that because of the cv I can't do that now...so ordering online is the best idea right now. Stay safe and healthy.
@@ElliotCoenWhat's sad is I'm on vacation all next week...and I was supposed to visit my grandparents...the worst part is Saturday the 18th I'm supposed to leave to go see them and that's my birthday. I work so hard for a vacation every year and now I have to spend it in misery. So now I have to stay home and I can't go...thanx a lot cv.
Love seeing your collection! Anytime I think I know about a lot of different home release publishing companies, I'm always shown more interesting one, and this video is no exception. By the way, I would happily watch the 6 hour version, I'd just space it out during my week!
There is something about a full collection video that I love, especially a collection like this! So yes, please do one as in depth as you can. Will go & enjoy this one for now... 👍💿
I like such 'whole collection' overview videos! Wow, gotta say, I have at least twice the amount, and only about 1% of the same titles. Some of my favorites still weren't released on Blu-ray, waiting for 15 years now. Titles like Hurlyburly and The Anniversary Party, Todd Solondz films Happiness and Storytelling, Neil LaBute's In the Company of Men, and Your Friends and Neighbors, pulp crime dramedies like Palmetto and Goodbye Lover, political satires like Bulworth and Wag the Dog, lots of stuff still not out, so I also keep a large DVD collection.
Hi Elliot. It’s great to see your collection overview. I’d love to see you talk about some of the labels in more detail, especially Second Run, as it’s a really underrated label that not many people talk about - and it definitely deserves more recognition! Which labels are you a ‘completist’ of and from which do you just buy what calls your attention? For me, generally speaking, I would have to say those that have a spine number (for the reasons you’ve mentioned.. although Criterion is very ambitious!). I also plan to own every film from Arrow Academy (they’re very Eureka and Criterion-esque and the type of film which is right up my street). From other labels like Arrow Video and BFI I tend to just buy what interests me. Also, do you have a favourite label (both in terms of the quality of the releases and in terms of the films that they put out)?
Hi Travis - I'll make a video focusing on Second Run very soon! As for which labels I'm a completist of, I would say them all! But some I am closer to completion than other. As for a favourite label, that changes every day. Criterion will always have the softest spot for me though! Thanks for watching, it's great to have you on the channel!
Excellent collection there Elliott and extremely well displayed and organised. 🙂 I am especially impressed with the "Late Mizoguchi" boxset. Have you seen how much that goes for on Ebay??!😯 Thank very much for uploading this video. You certainly have inspired me to organize my collection in a more disciplined way. 😊
So jealous of your collection. There are a lot of OOP sets I want. You should get the Second Sight In Bruges! It comes with the screenplay. I highly recommend making 40 Guns your first Fuller at Fox watch. It’s great. Also, so jealous of your HMV Premiums, I wish their was a retailer who would sell them to the US. There are a few I’d love to get.
Cheers, Michael! The In Bruges set is on my list to buy - I love that film, so funny. Forty Guns is one of my favourite Fuller films. I already have the single Eureka Masters of Cinema release which is duplicated in that box set (but with better picture quality, I believe). Do HMV ship internationally? If so, I definitely recommend buying a few int he next sale :)
Elliot Coen oh right, yes you’re right. The Forty Guns uses the new transfer that Criterion used for theirs. I wish they did but I tried and there wasn’t an option to ship US. Luckily I can get some HMV Premiums on eBay. I got my eye on that Treasure of the Sierra Madre and Clash of the Titans :)
@@ElliotCoen Many! Complete Criterion collection, complete Arrow collection, complete Indicator collection, complete Eureka collection. It would be great if you can do all of these videos showing off the spines as displayed in your library talking a little bit of each movie.
What an amazing collection! I would really like for you to go through the Second Run collection as there are so many Czech new wave titles in there. I also love the documentary The Emperor's Naked Army Marches On on SecondRun. Have you seen it?
Elliot.. How is everything going on? Glad to see you safe and sound in these uncertain times... By the way, the lighting in your Videos has improved a lot. As if John Alcott was behind the Cam. Are you sure he's not? Greetings from Spain
Jose, I am very well, my friend. Comparing me to John Alcott...now that is pure flattery! I am mostly, as they say, winging it with these videos. Thank you for the support as always :)
I love the channel! Never miss a video! Awesome shelving, any advice on where to find good options? Sometimes regular bookcases have too much space between sleeves. Thanks!
Awesome collection! Was also interested in picking up those shelves but seem to currently be out of stock. If you make them available again anytime soon I'll be sure to pick some up 😁
Hi Ben, thanks for watching! I'm not actually the seller of these shelves. I believe they come from China so the virus may be holding up stock. They should come back in stock, as they've been available for years now. I'll keep an eye out for you. It's great having you on the channel :)
@@ElliotCoen Thanks so much for putting in the link to the shelves (even though they're currently unavailable). The design, allowing for small adjustment of shelf height meaning no space is wasted, is streets ahead of any others I've seen.
Hi mate, awesome collection and brilliant video as usual. I’m curious, do you still have DVDs in your collection? I ask as i still have around 15% of my collection still on DVD, mainly because blu rays do not yet exist for them. Also, do you have other film related stuff that you treasure, like books on films for instance? Sorry for the questions 😊
Hi mate. No, I actually started collecting with blu-rays, so I didn't have many DVDs at all. There are a load of films I want to see that don't have blu-rays, but I'm holding out that they do eventually get them! And yes, I have a whole book collection on film, mostly on screenwriting as that's another passion of mine :)
yo man, don't know about anyone else but i will watch through every title if u make the video of ur entire collection, i will binge through them, i will
Hey Elliot! So awesome that you made this video, there are so many releases here that Sarah and I are very jealous of haha. I wish I got that Stray Cat Rock set from Arrow, the films sound right up my alley. I am also soooo jealous of that Late Mizoguchi set from Eureka, it's fantastic. If I ever see it for a decent price I'll get it although it's so rare now (as you mentioned) that I may be hard pressed to find one at all! It goes without saying but your collection is incredible, thanks a lot for showcasing it! Would totally be interested in seeing you more detailed videos of particular sections, it'd be great to hear your thoughts on them. Great stuff Elliot!
A detailed review of your films would be fabulous. You have a thoughtful purposeful collection, which is what makes it special. Of course, it would be fine if you want to break up the review in sections ... but a 6 hour marathon is okay too! :-).
Thanks, George! I like to think that my collecting has purpose - I use to buy everything and anything, but now I've whittled it down to the labels I really love.
Great video Elliot and I was so happy that Flight of The Navigator got a mention! I do have a question for you though- are there any murder mystery type films you'd recommend? As a reference, I've always loved the classic Agatha Christie mysteries. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.
@@ElliotCoen yessir! I think the community would love it! So curious to see the impact of the many new (or rebranded) labels like Radiance, Indicator or Curzon. Please make it happen! That would be a lovely start to 2024. 🙌🏻
For the films that you get all the spine numbers for, what do you do if a film you don't like or aren't interested in is apart of the collection? Do you still buy it knowing you don't like it/aren't interested in it or do you pass on it?
Hi Brian, thanks for watching and for this comment! Yes, I still buy a film in these collections even if I think I won't like it. Often it's a problem with me and not the film, so I like to study a film like that to work out what I'm not getting that other people love about it!
I didn't know that Criterion had put out the Zatoichi films! Do you also have Blind Fury?I saw the Beast Within in high school with my friends. It was so bad! We had a blast! I wish the Arrow videos weren't so expensive. They're very pricey over here. Of course most of them seem to be gory horror so it's not my cup of tea. But a couple of years ago when I was in Vegas I did get the House set. Impressive Elliot! And i like your shelving too!
Excellent stuff. You definitely have it over me from Arrow though. To be fair I get over the spine number syndrome by just not sorting by company at all. So I don't worry about gaps. And for that matter the dvd's are happy to go cheek by jowel with the Blu-rays. Alpha only - other than Mr Shakespeare for reference purposes. But I know that would drive a lot of people up the wall cos it does look very untidy!
Goodness, I really miss having HMV here (in Canada). That used to be one of my favourite stores to shop at when I was a teenager. I bought so many great classic film releases and collector's edition box sets there. Have you ever heard of Kino Lorber? They produce some really awesome bluray releases - similar in quality and style to Criterion discs.
My shelves looked like that... until I found sleeves and ditched the cases (kept the covers/inserts to insert in the sleeves). I can fit over 1,000 of them in six, 16.5 inch long bins. The amount of shelf and room space (and cash for shelving) I saved was astounding.
04:12 - ABEL GANCE's NAPOLEON Napoléon is a 1927 silent French epic film written, produced, & directed by Abel Gance that tells the story of Napoleon's early years. On screen, the title is Napoléon vu par Abel Gance, meaning "Napoleon as seen by Abel Gance". The film is recognised as a masterwork of fluid camera motion, produced in a time when most camera shots were static. Many innovative techniques were used to make the film, including -- fast cutting, --extensive close-ups, --a wide variety of hand-held camera shots, --location shooting, --point of view shots, --multiple-camera setups --multiple exposure, --superimposition, --underwater camera, --kaleidoscopic images, --film tinting, --split screen& --mosaic shots, --multi-screen projection, & other visual effects. A revival of Napoléon in the mid-1950s influenced the filmmakers of the French New Wave. On 31 August 1979, Napoléon was shown to a crowd of hundreds at the Telluride Film Festival, in Telluride, Colorado. The film was presented in full Polyvision at the specially constructed Abel Gance Open Air Cinema, which is still in use today. Gance was in the audience until the chilly air drove him indoors after which he watched from the window of his room at the New Sheridan Hotel. Brownlow's 1980 reconstruction was re-edited & released in the United States by American Zoetrope (through Universal Pictures) with a score by Carmine Coppola performed live at the screenings. The restoration premiered in the United States at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on 23-25 January 1981; each performance showed to a standing room only house. Gance could not attend because of poor health. At the end of 24 January screening, a telephone was brought onstage and the audience was told that Gance was listening on the other end and wished to know what they had thought of his film. The audience erupted in an ovation of applause and cheers that lasted several minutes. The acclaim surrounding the film's revival brought Gance much-belated recognition as a master director before his death eleven months later, in November 1981 Another restoration was made by Brownlow in 1983. When it was screened at the Barbican Centre in London, French actress Annabella, who plays the fictional character Violine in the film (personifying France in her plight, beset by enemies from within and without), was in attendance. She was introduced to the audience prior to screenings and during one of the intervals sat alongside Kevin Brownlow, signing copies of the latter's book about the history and restoration of the film. Brownlow re-edited the film again in 2000, including previously missing footage rediscovered by the Cinémathèque Française in Paris. Altogether, 35 minutes of reclaimed film had been added, making the total film length of the 2000 restoration five and a half hours. On 13 November 2016, Napolėon was the subject of the Film Programme on BBC Radio 4. The BBC website announced: "Historian Kevin Brownlow tells Francine Stock about his 50-year quest to restore Abel Gance's silent masterpiece Napoleon to its five and half-hour glory, and why the search for missing scenes still continues even though the film is about to be released on DVD for the very first time." A restoration of the almost-seven-hour-long so-called Apollo version (i.e. the version of Napoléon shown at the Apollo Theatre in Paris in 1927), conducted by Cinémathèque Française and financed by the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée along with Netflix, is scheduled to be completed by 5 May 2021. -- Wikipedia
Hi Elliott, just thinking...what are your thoughts on Robert Altman's work? Especially 'Three Women'? Sorry if youvr already covered this subject on another video ...Still working through your content 😀😀😀
Great video Elliot gave me ideas of titles I need to get. Did see that Cujo is still unwrapped. I recommend wholeheartedly it is underrated piece of tense cinema.
I wonder how much you've spent? I have similar problem with having a box set and duplicate of the individual films. Problem is I am running out of space and need to archive loads.
To make it easier for yourself, you could do a video per label. Like, a video for all your criterions, a video for all your Arrow blu rays, et cetera, et cetera
I am very envious of your collection, Elliot. So much variety.... I do have a question: What movie do you have most in different releases? A lot of times I'll find myself buying the same movies in different releases because of the special features or just because the artwork is different and amazing.... Again, what a great collection you have!
hii, your collection is so cool, if someday i have one just like yours i would love to have as many films as possible, especially if i have never watched some of them because at the end of the day, they are a part of something that is mine but im waiting for the moment to get into it while its unknown for me, love ur videos :))))
Yes, I would say so! I think it surpasses the previously released Criterion edition. Better to snap up the limited edition before it goes out of print :)
How long is it since you worked in Fopp, Elliot? You might well have served me. I take it that it was the Manchester branch? I go in sometimes for films (mostly Arrow) and/or SF Masterwork books (2 for £5). Yes, it was the Manchester branch! I worked in there between June 2017 and Octover 2018, mostly at the weekends, so maybe our paths did cross. I do love those SF Masterworks books, and I have a sizeable collection of those too :)
Nice collection!! I never understood why they put those rating on the cover and spine. Its nice the US doesn't have that. I don't open mine until I watch them as well. Thanks again for the great videos.
Hi Adam. Yeah, they have to put the ratings logos on legally. I don't like them, but you get used to them. I love how clean the US blu-rays look without any ratings on! Thanks for watching :)
World cinema/cult classics with a hint of geek/anime? Question: do you collect for collecting sake or do you love these films? Love the ordering... high fidelity - on point. Top 5 films?

Congrats!
Thank you so much, Daniel! It's aways good to hear from you :)
Just subbed to you the other day, exactly what I look for in a collector! Collecting the obscure and arty films :) really getting into criterion myself. Great collection man!
Thank you so much, Harry :) it's always good to meet a fellow collector!
I think it's the four disk expanded release with more extra material and additional music soundtrack that they also pulled me into buying.
I would love to see a more in-depth view of your collection
I will work on it. Thanks for watching :)
Take care!
Charlie's Angels is surely a contender for the Masters of Cinema series, right? Thanks for watching :)
I love your Arrow Collection. I wish the US had some if these editions
Thank you :) If you happen to purchase a multi region player, you could import these editions so that you don't miss out!
As someone from the United States, it's pretty cool to see all of these special editions that we don't have here. Awesome video!
Wow! What a collection. Impressive. I do declare, I'm overwhelmed by the "vapors ".
Thank you, Paul :)
Fantastic collection. I hope you do a more in-depth video. I enjoy your channel very much, thank you for sharing.
Wonderful Collection Elliot!!!
Currently going over my wishlist looking to get the Before Trilogy and The Friends Of Eddie Coyle ii my probably gonna get carried away and grab some more
Thank you so much for watching, Jonathan! Yes, grab lots and lots!
Nice, library you got there! It's very pleasing to the eyes!
Thank you so much for watching :)
@@ElliotCoen Will certainly do so! And thank you, you are doing quite well yourself.
Oh and YES PLEASE, DEFINITELY!!! I'd love a more detailed walk through your collection.
It's-a-comin!
Nice collection! I keep my blu ray and dvd collection in booklets. But hey...a collection is a collection whether it's on the shelf or in booklets. I have an abundance of movies and videos games.
Thank you so much, Bryan. I bet that saves a lot of space for you! It's always good to meet a fellow collector!
@@ElliotCoen I actually just go out to Best Buy or Target to buy my movies or I order them online...I never collect. Sucks that because of the cv I can't do that now...so ordering online is the best idea right now. Stay safe and healthy.
@@bryanrizzo9377 I agree, ordering online is the way right now. Stay safe yourself, my friend :)

Love seeing your collection! Anytime I think I know about a lot of different home release publishing companies, I'm always shown more interesting one, and this video is no exception. By the way, I would happily watch the 6 hour version, I'd just space it out during my week!
Thank you, my friend :) I plan to do some more in-depth collection videos very soon!
Great video as always. Your collection is amazing ! I would love to hear you talk about all of the films in your collection. :)
Hayden, thanks so much. It's always good to have you here! Keep an eye out for more videos on my collection :)
@@ElliotCoen can't wait your arrow video and academy collection is possibly the best I have seen !
Just found your channel! Love it man good stuff.
Nice to hear you worked in FOP- great shop
Thanks, it is a great shop and sorely missed during this lockdown period!
Thanks, Anthony! Yes I have seen how much it goes for, haha. That's what makes me scared about opening it - it belongs in a museum!
Elliot Coen one thing I forgot to ask, have you watch that Heimat box set you have? I’ve been eyeing it since reading about it on a few websites.
Amazing! Keep up the collection videos!!!
Thank you so much, my friend. Anything in particular you want to see more of in my collection?
@@ElliotCoen Many! Complete Criterion collection, complete Arrow collection, complete Indicator collection, complete Eureka collection. It would be great if you can do all of these videos showing off the spines as displayed in your library talking a little bit of each movie.
What an amazing collection! I would really like for you to go through the Second Run collection as there are so many Czech new wave titles in there. I also love the documentary The Emperor's Naked Army Marches On on SecondRun. Have you seen it?
Fantastic collection mate!
When you can't collect BluRay
You watch other's collection
Ahah good point. I hope you enjoy :)
I love the channel! Never miss a video! Awesome shelving, any advice on where to find good options? Sometimes regular bookcases have too much space between sleeves. Thanks!
Hi David, thank you so much! I have a link in the video description to the shelves I use :)
And yes, I have a whole book collection on film, mostly on screenwriting as that's another passion of mine :)
yo man, don't know about anyone else but i will watch through every title if u make the video of ur entire collection, i will binge through them, i will
Thank you so much! I will do more collection videos soon :)
Wow, such a magnificent and lovely Blu-Ray collection...👍🏼💯✔
Fantastic collection, very impressive. Where did you get those shelving units? They look made for blu rays - need!
Is there any hope for an update? Each time I watch a new thematic video I want to climb into your shelves in the background 😀
Would you like a big collection update at the start of 2024? I can make it happen!
@@ElliotCoen yessir! I think the community would love it! So curious to see the impact of the many new (or rebranded) labels like Radiance, Indicator or Curzon. Please make it happen! That would be a lovely start to 2024. 🙌🏻
wow dude. an amazing collection. HMW premium would be cool to see!
Definitely would be interested in that, my small lil 13 would look like nothing next to that haha.
Thanks, mate! I'll plan a video focused on the Premium Collection then :)
Elliot Coen awesome. You have so many awesome movies missing from your collection though 🤣
Oh, I know!
the Bfi Napoleon set is absolutely stunning!!!!
Thanks, WolfGratz :) I'd personally love to see how you organise your collection!
04:12 - ABEL GANCE's NAPOLEON
Napoléon is a 1927 silent French epic film written, produced, & directed by Abel Gance
that tells the story of Napoleon's early years.
On screen, the title is Napoléon vu par Abel Gance, meaning "Napoleon as seen by Abel Gance".
The film is recognised as a masterwork of fluid camera motion, produced in a time when most camera shots were static.
Many innovative techniques were used to make the film, including
-- fast cutting,
--extensive close-ups,
--a wide variety of hand-held camera shots,
--location shooting,
--point of view shots,
--multiple-camera setups
--multiple exposure,
--superimposition,
--underwater camera,
--kaleidoscopic images,
--film tinting,
--split screen&
--mosaic shots,
--multi-screen projection,
& other visual effects.
The acclaim surrounding the film's revival brought Gance much-belated recognition as a master director before his death eleven months later, in November 1981
Another restoration was made by Brownlow in 1983.
The BBC website announced: "Historian Kevin Brownlow tells Francine Stock about his 50-year quest to restore Abel Gance's silent masterpiece Napoleon to its five and half-hour glory, and why the search for missing scenes still continues even though the film is about to be released on DVD for the very first time."
A restoration of the almost-seven-hour-long so-called Apollo version (i.e. the version of Napoléon shown at the Apollo Theatre in Paris in 1927), conducted by Cinémathèque Française and financed by the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée along with Netflix, is scheduled to be completed by 5 May 2021.

Great collection Elliott
Thank you, Daniel, it means a lot to me that you watched it :)
Hi Elliott, just thinking...what are your thoughts on Robert Altman's work? Especially 'Three Women'? Sorry if youvr already covered this subject on another video ...Still working through your content 😀😀😀
This would be my dream collection, but I only started collecting a year ago, so many of those titles are hard to come by
i think im gonna start collecting this year, thank you inspiring me to start!
Wonderful collection buddy!
Thank you so much :)
Great collection Elliot!!!
Thank you so much, Andre! I bet your collection is just as good, if not better!
PLEASE go through your steelbooks looks like you have some good ones
Great video Elliot gave me ideas of titles I need to get. Did see that Cujo is still unwrapped. I recommend wholeheartedly it is underrated piece of tense cinema.
I wonder how much you've spent? I have similar problem with having a box set and duplicate of the individual films. Problem is I am running out of space and need to archive loads.
To make it easier for yourself, you could do a video per label. Like, a video for all your criterions, a video for all your Arrow blu rays, et cetera, et cetera
Maybe I missed it but do you have Local Hero criterion? Recently saw it on amazon shipped from the US to U.K.
Hey Leo, yes I do have Local Hero on Criterion! What a great movie from Bill Forsyth. It makes Scotland look so beautiful!
Elliot Coen - ah I’m jealous haha. And yes - what an underrated gem 🙌
I am very envious of your collection, Elliot. So much variety.... I do have a question: What movie do you have most in different releases? A lot of times I'll find myself buying the same movies in different releases because of the special features or just because the artwork is different and amazing.... Again, what a great collection you have!
A video on your ghibli steel books would be awesome!
Hey Collin, I will do one very soon. Thanks for watching :)
Im from the UK too, how do you get the US criterion editions and what Region Free player do you won to watch them on
hii, your collection is so cool, if someday i have one just like yours i would love to have as many films as possible, especially if i have never watched some of them because at the end of the day, they are a part of something that is mine but im waiting for the moment to get into it while its unknown for me, love ur videos :))))
Is the fear and loathing in Las Vegas arrow set worth it? I really love the film (I don’t own it), but I want to know if the arrow edition is good
Yes, I would say so! I think it surpasses the previously released Criterion edition. Better to snap up the limited edition before it goes out of print :)
Thanks!
Very nicely organised! 😎
How long is it since you worked in Fopp, Elliot? You might well have served me. I take it that it was the Manchester branch? I go in sometimes for films (mostly Arrow) and/or SF Masterwork books (2 for £5).
Also I’m the same with my collection of comic/graphic novels, many still have the shrink wrap on, but I will read them someday. 😉
Absolute brilliant collection mate 👏
Thank you so much mate!
World cinema/cult classics with a hint of geek/anime? Question: do you collect for collecting sake or do you love these films? Love the ordering... high fidelity - on point. Top 5 films?
I’ve repeated this video looking for Blu Ray recommendations😂 I’d love to see you go through each of the Blu rays. You could make separate videos for different labels etc...
Also did you sell all of your standard Blu Rays?
Awesome collection!
Thank you so much, Kyle!
Great video, Elliot! Out of curiosity, what shelving unit do you have that you store your blu rays on? They look a perfect fit for the shelves!
You should do a video where you talk about every title
Wow!! An absolutely amazing collection have to say slightly jealous of some of those special editions 😂 where did you get you’re display units from been looking for some decent ones for a while? Keep Up the Great Content 👍👍
Thanks, Daniel. They're from Amazon. There's a link in the description to them :)
What blu ray player do you use to play the US boxsets because finding a region free player is a bit of a hassle since I don't really trust reviews.
Your collection is so beautiful, man. 🙌🏾
Hey Elliot, sorry for the late watch and comment.
AWESOME COLLECTION BUDDY! And very well organised, really enjoyed seeing what you have and the way you keep them on the shelves, in your case, by company. Do you have many problems taking them off the shelf, I just ask as they fit in really snuggling, heightwise, and I would think it could be tricky sometimes.
Great update, thanks for sharing, take care and stay safe.
Hey Benn! It's great to hear from you :) Thanks so much for checking out my collection. No, I don't have any issues taking them off the shelves. I keep some room free horizontally on a shelf so that I can do a bit of wiggling out if need be. Hope you're keeping well!
