- Do you ever find that when you declutter your closet in hopes to create a more minimal wardrobe or a capsule wardrobe, you end up getting rid of many items that still either have the tags on them, or you only wore once or twice? It is like throwing away money and no one likes that feeling! In my recent attempt to create a minimal wardrobe, I came up with a list of 8 clothing items that I am consistently decluttering from my wardrobe. If I didn’t buy them in the first place, I wouldn’t be getting rid of them later on! Here are the items that I’ve found that I just shouldn’t buy in the first place, and I encourage you to consider the same. IF these items work for you, I’m all for it! Thanks for watching!

The one I would add are the "fantasy self" clothing. The stuff you buy because you want to be a certain type of person, but not badly enough to actually be that type of person. I bought so many button up shirts trying to be the fashionable influencer type. But I just absolutely hate button ups. I've tried thousands of them, and I will never find them comfortable. I finally just accepted that this is an aesthetic I will never actually be.
Definitely!! That one makes the list too for sure. I’ve purchased plenty of items for “brunch” but I never really go to brunch 😂
I unfortunately still shop for my more fabulous younger self, I'm still
trim & fit, but I don't date or go to parties anymore. BUT , just in case . . .😏
That was actually a great point about timing your shopping trips on more of an average day than a 'skinny' day and shoe shopping toward the end of the day if your feet swell.
Even though it’s more fun to shop on a “skinny day”!

My bedroom is a VERY crowded boutique . Ihave more clothes & shoes than Barbie. I have many unique items, I can't bear to part with. Hopefully someone will inherit
my collection & be happy 😊
Get in the habit of saving receipts for a couple weeks. Have a particular place for them so you know exactly where you are. And take the time to return things, its worth your time.

I know all about what you say but I need to be reminded of this every year. When I get excited I forget all about it. Also I also regret from buying from the thrift shop because there’s something about them that gives off negative vibes. Maybe the fact that them being reject items seeps into my psyche.
I need to be reminded of this all the time too. I also love to thrift shop and love it when I find a great quality item that maybe just didn’t fit someone well or something but it works well for me!

Wide waist bands help suck in our mom guts too! Thanks for the link! I literally just told myself earlier today that I needed to duplicate the leggings I thrifted. Love them because they're lined AND they have pockets! Yesss!! Those friggin dressing room mirrors are so deceiving. I feel like Maurices mirrors have collaborated against me! Ha! I decluttered the cr@p out of my closet a while ago, got rid of those one off tops that I never bought the stuff to 'complete the look'. As for Dry Clean Only, girl, it's gotta survive my washer and dryer or God speed to it! LOL. Another great video!!!!

When I was a kid, I made my mother remove the elastic in my pjs... the waist & wrists & ankles.
I still cannot wear anything that has thin elastic encasing any part of me. (Undergarments are my nemesis)
Those wide waistbands are great on pants & some shirts have them &
I can tolerate most drawstrings.
I've been this way for a long time, since I'm now in my 70s ha ha
I have become this way and will probably still be like that in my 70's too! That's great that your mom removed the elastic!
Too-tight wrists that either cut off my circulation and/or can’t be pushed up drive me crazy. Also, as an XL, I find lots of sweaters or cardigans have too-tight sleeves that can’t layer over everything. They look great, so that’s how I end up with them.

Yeah, t shirts are tough. I may end up getting a white and a black one from a higher end brand since these cheapo ones are not working out for me.
They are tough! It is finally winter where I am but every spring I look for the perfect t shirt. (And then buy it in all the colors, of course haha)
I just hate cheap clothes and almost always have had terrible experience with them. They don’t hold their shape when laundered, and they often pill or fade quickly. The buttons are barely hanging on and seams start unraveling. I just won’t buy them.
Disposable fashion.
I actually hate the wide waisttband. The seam below the waist annoys the heck out of me.
And here I thought it was the only way to go! Watch now I’ll start noticing that seam… 😆
Thin elastic bands....do they even make them anymore?! Haha. They are miserable! I need to try those leggings. They look amazing and comfy. I am definitely guilty of doing the rest on your list. Especially the one where I just buy something because it's cute, but it doesn't go with anything. And I always buy several colors of one shirt that I love. 🤣 It's a struggle.
