I think it was an act because the prop (I think it was a candlestick) didn't actually hit her face.

Even though she actually did get hit a little hard in the nose with that trumpet, it was all part of the act and that wasn’t real blood, it was just paint or ketchup or whatever it is. If it was actually real, then multiple medics and assistants would immediately rush up to do medical care for her and it would have to be canceled.
