- So it has come to that time of year once again! Where all us F1 content creators try and predict who will go where in the F1 2022 driver market, and nine times out of ten get them all wrong! Either way, here are my takes on what the grid could look like as we go into 2022!

Just watch how next year Lewis goes to Ferrari, Max joins alpine, Alonso takes the seat at mercedes, Bottas becomes merc team principal, Red Bull picks Robert Kubica, and George russell joins brawngp which make a suprise entrance at the first race. Also all teams except merc are now managed by Mazepin, Stroll, and Latifi's dads

i think it really depends as we have seen kimi wanting to move away from the f1 scene.
We will probaply have to wait to see what the new rule changes will mean regarding alfa-romeo, especially since there have been no new rules regarding the drincc.

@mrluigi04 Cuz AT is meant for new drivers.
New driver comes in, if he's better than what they currently have after some development, a main team driver gets dropped and another new driver comes in to start the cycle all over again.
They can't keep that seat held at AT with an older driver, Kvyat was sadly the weakest of the bunch.. and Yuki is now going through development.
@mrluigi04 Well, F1 only has 20 seats, and you have an advantage if you can find the BEST drivers. Their young drivers at least get a chance in an F1 car and to prove if they got it or not.
Most young drivers don't even get a opportunity to try, even if they're part of a driver academy... And if they don't make it, they still gain a lot.
RedBull race in other series those drivers can enter too. F1 is just looking for the absolute cream of the crop.
this aged well with Bottas so far.... xD - hope he´ll get back to pace soon, as of right now, he´s more comfortable with the "new" chassis.

I say with toto praising bottas for finally making his voice and opinion cristal clear. He is starting to put his foot in decisions in the garage, and if he improves I see him staying in the seat for 2022
Tbh taking this into consideration Toyo may well be thinking to keep on Bottas until a season or two after Lewis decides to retire - Lewis has made it clear he isnt gonna stay on for too many more seasons as he have other passions too, and whoever becomes the replacement will need a more experienced driver to show them the ropes, which I think will be Bottas' role, sorta like Kimi and Gio. Also I'm actually not too sure if Merc will end up signing Russell... Russell keeps saying and doing things to put himself at odds with Merc and lacks the humility of a junior driver trying to make it onto the top team - I honestly feel like hes gonna end up talking his way out of the seat the way hes behaving. Its not like Merc HAVE to choose one of their own juniors either, they could very well end up stealing someone from a different team when the time comes. Or maybe even bring back some of the people who left F1 in recent years that were showing promise but lost out on contracts, like Hulkenberg or Magnussen were both very capable drivers who just suddenly ended up standing without a seat. Theres alot of options for Merc for drivers that will likely behave much less entitled then Russell, and thus also maintain the public image of the team that Lewis helped build.
@@munaclassic4020 Mercedes won't risk to loose Russell, he won't stay at Williams for a 4th season.
From a resources POV, there is no reason not to get Russell into that seat. They have invested alot into him already so not picking him up for next year would be a huge waste of the resources. Leave him with Williams and there is s high chance he gets snatched up by other teams.
I think if Dmitrii Mazepin buys Haas, an all Russian line-up would appeal to Russian sponsors like VTB bank for example, which sponsors the Russian GP (and pretty much every Russian sporting event). It would also help grow the popularity of F1 within Russia and the post-Soviet sphere, which I am sure is something Dmitrii would like to work on especially since he's Belarusian.

I feel like Albon might be able to join either next year or 2023. I think maybe Alex could join Haas or Williams. Albon, in the right environment, which Haas and William I think are, can get well into the points and if with a good enough car even the podium. Either that or Danny retires after 2023 and Lando begs Zac to hire Albon, but that's unlikely.

I absolutely believe that Gasly will be retained and Yuki will be traded in favour of the fastest RB junior.
If Yuki is really bad then yeah, he'd have to not improve at all from now though, red bull seem to see pace in him
I can see this if Yuki fails to improve. I think that in a way Gasly has found his true calling for RB now. He is the mentor/yardstick that they can gauge their upcoming drivers against. RB aren't totally stupid, it may not have worked out for him at RBR but he loves the AT car and gets the maximum from it. He's quick in that car so is ideal as a benchmark to judge others against.
Makes sense to predict them now since many teams are announcing them! I actually agree with (almost) all of your predictions. Speaking of Alpha Tauri Red Bull have said it’s a ‘sister team’ rather than a ‘junior team’ - I think they’ve said that in order to excuse keeping Gasly at Alpha Tauri. I am a bit torn about Alfa Romeo, but I definitely think they’ll sign either Ilott or Schwartzman, since it appears on the F1 Instagram that Haas have confirmed they’re keeping Mick. I’m thinking that maybe Alfa will sign both Ilott and Schwartzman. And then Haas will remain how it is. I also have no idea who Williams will sign.
You make a good point about Alpha Tauri, saw an interview where gasly has said other teams have expressed interest. So he could yet leave the team and go elsewhere, where that would be though is anyone's guess. If I were him, I'd try and get one more year at AT then look at who's done well in the new regs and move there

In the DTS series on Netflix, we saw some parts of the driver negotiations at Haas. I remember one of Haas’ German sponsors having a clause which said that the team had to have a German driver. Now I don’t know the details, and I don’t know if that clause will still be there next year but if so, it wouldn’t be likely to see Kvyat return :( They’d probably stay with Mick or go with the Hulk, which would be great as well.
Realistic grid, but surely the bottom teams will keep a spot open for the eventual f2 champion, don't think I see a De Vries situation if Shwartzmann or Piastri storm to the title, would love a 3 way red bull junior fight though and Helmut to announce the prize with 3 rounds to go if the three are all frontrunners (Daruvala needs a vips style Baku weekend to get back in contention though). If a rb junior wins the title, I see gasly try get a future at Williams or alfa romeo, I think we will sadly only see a max of two drivers step up to f1 next year

@@harshilpatel684 yep. Either that or be the top 3 scorers of every race weekend. He was top 3 in both Bahrain and Baku. If he can do that every race weekend, we've got a great battle in our hands. From here on, the only way he's making it is if he wins the championship. As things stand, I doubt Helmut is too impressed with him.
@@varunnair2663 same goes for all 3 of them, I think they'll keep Gasly and Tsunoda and let the 3 develop in f2 for another year unless one of the 3 dominate and win the title, or maybe come very close in a 2 horse race and lose it due to back luck on the final round.
Jehan will be going into his third and probably final year in f2 where it will be last chance saloon for him.
Vips and Lawson have a second season, like Mick did.
Guy who doesn't care anymore but still finished 11th and close to the points in the majority of races lmao... so much for not caring anymore.
The line-up of 2022 will barely changed, the only unknows will likely to be for Mercedes, for a simple reason, the teams will already have to deal with a massive regulation modify, they will not want to bring up some inexperienced driver from F2 on top of that and will prefered stability at least for the first year.
Mercedes: Hamilton-Bottas or Russell?
RB Honda: Max-Sergio
Ferrari: Charles-Carlos
Mclaren: Lando-Daniel
Alpha Tauri: Pierre-Yuki
Aston Martin: Seb-Lance
Alfa Romeo: Kimi-Gio
Alpine: Alonso-Ocon
Haas: Mick-Mazepin
William: Russell or Bottas, if Bottas refused they might search a experienced F1 driver more than an inexperienced F2 driver-Latifi
For 2023 however they might have some big transfers.
Mercedes unlikely to move what so ever
RB Honda: Depending on Yuki performance if he stop making mistake, win in self-control against stress and even improve, might be a candidate for Sergio seat, Pierre is a candidate too and that would be a real douchebag move from Horner and give him a real bad image if Pierre continue like this or even scored more podium, but still get ignored, and a bad image for the yound of the RB academy aswell.
Ferrari: Mick depending of his performance and if Haas have a good car in 2022, could be a candidate for Carlos seat.
Mclaren: Lando will not move but depending of Ricciardo performance, that could be a exit ticket for Gasly from AT if RB keep ignoring him, to go in a team who could fight for the title in the new regulation or maybe not.
Alpha Tauri: Depending of what happens and how they perform, if Pierre got a exit ticket or if Horner stop ignoring him, might move to RB or Mclaren, Yuki same like i say if he calm himself with his stress and improve, then he might move to RB or he will stay at AT.
In the end it would be unlikely that both stay in AT, one might stay but a F2 driver might be promoted in the other seat but if both perform well but because of stranged reason they can't move to another team, might stay like this, Pierre and Yuki where way more impressive in F2 than the actual RB Junior in F2 and Yuki have the same age.
Might be a fail of RB academy but why changed something that work if that work by remplacing them when they are still young by unknown and possibly worst drivers, it's the problem of only 20 seat in F1.
Aston Martin: I don't see any move here, Vettel-Lance will likely stay in 2023.
Alfa Romeo: It's the most tricky one, that will be all depending of they performance and the decision of the driver, Kimi might decide to stop at the end of 2022 or not if the car is good and allow him to fight, if he doesn't move from F1 Gio might stay if he find a way to perform in race.
Because yeah Gio became fast in qualy, faster than Kimi, but Kimi still destroy him in race most of the time.
Or depending of the performance of the car, Mick could be promoted in Alfa alongside Kimi or Gio if Kimi decide to leave.
Alpine: Ocon should stay, depending of the performance of the car Alonso too... maybe? if the car keep being a shitbox could be the return of the good old GP2 engine renault and Alonso will be likely leaving, letting the door open for a F2 driver.
Haas: Mazepin will stay because daddy cash, Mick that will be entirely depending of the performance of the car, if the car his good and he did a good season outperforming completly Mazepin, he will likely be promoted to Ferrari, if the car is bad, he will likely be promoted to Alfa.
Could Gio will be transferred to Haas in the process or a F2 pilot will take the seat.
Williams: Bottas maybe if he is here, Latifi might be still here, don't see a lot of people in the Mercedes academy that could claim that seat specially if he improved, if Bottas is not here that could be a experienced F1 driver like Sergio or Sainz or Ricciardo if they are remplaced in they respective team, or a F2 pilot.

I'd like Vips to be in the alpha tauri before Yuki bankrupts Sauber. Sure he has raw pace but the kid is gonna have to get his act together sooner rather than later. Also Redbull has expressed quite clearly that from 2021 onwards Alpha tauri is considered a sisterteam so your arguement about booting Gasly carries little weight in that case. Also Gasly is pretty much signed at Merc. He'll be in a silver arrow no later than 2023 and might even be the one replacing Bottas next season instead of Russell. You know Lulu and his vetos and all

(Pourchaire will get another season at F2 before taking Kimi's seat, Hamilton will veto the decision to promote Russel, Ticktum to Williams, all other top teams retaining their drivers (most seats are already gone), Haas drivers stay as well, Panthera Asia to maybe enter the sport, Kvyat's return... and yeah thats pretty much it)
If that happens AlphaTauri would take Albon or one of the juniors like Jüri Vips, but not Kvyat.
Russel and Bottas switch. Kimi out, Shwarzman in. The other stay
i think hamilton will leave/retire when russel moves to mercedes. he does not have to prove himself to less experienced teammate and is probably afraid to lose to russel aswell.
therefor i think gasly could get that vacant mercedes seat while one of the RB juniors will take gasly's seat at AT and Bottas will go back to Williams to become 2022 wdc.

What about Gasly to Williams? I think it would be a similar risk to Sainz to McLaren in 2019. Could reap huge rewards if he leads Williams back into the midfield.
If he was forced out of alpha tauri then I could see it, though I wouldn't switch from them if I had the choice

Schumacher to Alfa Romeo seems like the right move but he is also the reason for a major sponsor at Haas a team that is almost dead financially

Why are most people so positive towards Latifi? He’s been absolutely wiped the floor with by Russell and is even often finishing behind Mick this year, even though Williams should have the much stronger car.

Giovinazzi´s seat is ferrari backed, so I think ferrari should put up schumacher and kimi should leave so alfa can bring ilott up to alfa

It's a good shout but Alfa have said they want to take their time with him and not rush him up the ladder, which is why I left him out. That said come 2023 and I'd be shocked if he's not on the grid

I think Alpha Tauri will drop Yuki for Albon he is the most logical choice albon and gasly would be really strong pair

Those 2 doesn't need Brawn to be competitive at all. 5 years before they were 2nd and 3rd in 2004 F1. Today's F1 doesn't have a driver line up like that.
