Just found your channel yesterday along with Chris. Only watched a few videos so far, but have to say your content and presentation is outstanding. I like your honest straight forward vibe which is really fun to watch. Keep it up! I live and fish up the coast from you off the mouth of the Columbia River. Our summer is filled with albacore and in recent summers even a blue fin or two have shown up. It seems like in recent years each summer is getting a little warmer, and we laugh and call ourselves "San Diego north". I've been to SD the last few years to chase tuna and even after 70 years, I'm still finding new ways to enjoy the sport I've loved for decades. Just got back from my first long range trip off Baja, and what an eye opener that was. Thought it was going to be a bucket list trip, but decided it has to be a once a year trip until I kick the bucket. Tight lines guys, keep the stoke coming!
Awesome glad to hear you found the channel and you are liking it! We are going to keep the videos coming. The Baja trips sound awesome, it’s what keeps us going! Keep up on the trips and fishing!
Thanks man! We want to help our people. All of our subs are super cool, they come talk to us at the dock, all good people. We were out there struggling the first time around and wanted to show people what we learned out there.
I wish I could remember the distance, but as the only non-Italian-Portuguese crew member on a Commercial Albacore boat along with throwing bait, cooking and engine room duties I got to pull the hand lines. (Best workout I have ever done) We would have 8 x jig lines out longish, and 2-3 hand lines on rubber bungies, one or two of those always went off when the jig poles went off, and often they went off when nothing else hit. 80# mono and plain cedar plugs.
Hey guys, I’m in southeast Florida. What do you say when you guys want you can come here and get out on my boat. When I travel to San Francisco maybe we can try to get on some bluefins?
You guys are killing it! Thanks for sharing your setup and how you fight the fish. I like your philosophy on gear - buy what you can afford as they all work. How do you guys determine where you are going to start fishing? Are you you looking at Chloro and temp break SAT data or trolling a canyon edge? I know you look for birds when you are out there. Hope to get one this year.
Thanks man! Yeah we usually look at temp maps and Chloro charts, we look for areas where the two line up, the blue water and the warm water. Hopefully you stick one!
Best how to video! I will probably never use this great information, but I am glad you guys are so open about the secrets of your trade. BTW I do have a boat and I do go out into the ocean. Maybe I'll see you guys out on the water one day.
Liked / Subscribed You mentioned the lures getting "beat up / paint peeling" ? Maybe a little of that clear epoxy you are putting on your gaffs or some clear acrylic spray will give the lures better life ? Great video, great channel Tight lines !
Awesome man, thank you so much! We haven't tried that but its an interesting an idea, we will have to try it out. Even though the paint wears, they tuna still eat them! Haha
A lot of people do! Totally makes sense, bending down like that is not optimal. RAP systems makes a pipe that fits in rod holders that you can get the rod up at chest height and you can still rail the fish but a more comfortable height too
There’s 3 different 50W. One is two speed, one is single speed and one is a level wind. I would get the single speed or the two speed. I would pass on the level wind.
Try bleeding them then running raw water thru fish for about 20 min or so on deck then ice um , see if notice difference in meat not getting ice burn just how we do yellow fins in hawaii but hotter water I think so fish are smoking once we get in the boat!! Aloha and tight lines and good luck... Also the penn squall lever 50 is nice has basically international guts on cheaper frame I have had good luck with them... I home built same gaffs works awsome ...... nice video just found ya!!! check out are hawaii fishing playlist if like mahalo
As someone who is fairly new to ocean fishing, it’s difficult to find videos that explain this as well as you have. Thank you!
Thanks John!!
Ya everyone else just posts the initial bite and the fish on the boat not the fight
Hell yeah! Congrats again on the video of the year!
Thanks man!! Keep up the good work!!
Your videos are inspiring. Love the tutorial portion and getting ChrisP into tuna action. You shorten the learning curve for all, thank you.
Awesome Lenny thanks for watching!
Thanks guys for sharing good vibes
Thanks Oleg!

Great info gents. Thanks very much.
Thanks man 👍🎣
@@DDFishingCo I cringed when I saw you using the rail to help lift the fish but I didn't realise the rods were designed for that. Cheers

Done awesome videos amigos 😎👍
Thanks man!
! Im dying to get out n try this!🎣👏
Heard everything but what connection knot to the mad Mac? Are you tying knot , crimping or?
We tie a San Diego knot. Crimp works too!
what connection knot do you use braid to leader? great vid!
We use the FG knot
nice video boys! where did you get your hand held line counter?
Thanks Ron! We picked it up on amazon, its a rapala digital line counter.
Mornin, do you guys use any barrel swivels or just tying leader material directly to bait. Appreciate all you do!
Thanks Jeremy, we do not use any swivels, connection knot from braid to leader, and direct tie or crimp to the lure.
@@DDFishingCo ty guys , git em
