i remember this girl! she was at Prix de Lausanne and WAS EXCELLENT. in both - ballet and contemporary. and she didn't just dance it, she performed it. so i think ~coldness~ in this performance is exactly what choreographer demanded from her. great choreography as well. very interesting use of pointe and Russian folk moves!
Maybe dear TinyDancer848 we do not see her expression...but I could see her as mischievous...I just like the fact that a young dancer is moving and moving well...lately the most one sees is cirucs or too much atlethic gymnast executers of dance...anyways time goes by
This didn't really give me the feeling of mischief... more like sadness. i thought the music and choreography was beautiful and the dancing was amazing with good technique, except her face isn't telling any kind of story. But other then that I thought everything was perfect-- the part where she slid on her pointe shoes (1:43) was really cool.
i hav not danced in years so ive never heard of this girl. i am a native of washington and i have trained and been in many schools. my best friend is in the royal ballet aas the only african american ever i believe and i travelled with him and ive set next to paty barker and had dinner with misty copland the list goes on the point is this girl IS GOING TO BE AN ABSOLUTE INTERNATIONAL STAR IN THE WORLD OF BALLET.
beaautiful! it is funny to see people using movie actress's standard to judge a ballet dancer's ''face expression''. i think when watching ballet, we mainly enjoy the beautiful body movement and the technique of the dancer.
Great technique and devotion to the choreography. Although in my opinion, the classical stiffness shouldn't be there. To dance neoclassical choreos, means to let go and release. But she seems to be very young, so with the potential she already has something gorgeous might come out in time :)

The way she dances it, it seems more like a really sad dance...not mischievous, but like she's so sad she's losing her mind.
she has, she has. check her contemporary at Prix de Lausanne 2011.
Is Kirov academy of Ballet of Washington a prestigious ballet school?
but you cant really see her face properly?

Beautiful dance and music, and very skillful dancer.
