    The patches look great! What material did you use for the appliqué portion of the patches? Did you use adhesive spray to hold it down on the 2 layers of cutaway?

    Did you have the circle digitized especially for a specific size? Is it better to go with a digitizer? I'm still learning an I've been practicing patches but I'm not quite there yet. Thanks for the video.

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  3 роки тому +2

      Hello, yes, the border around the patch has a special finish. I put my digitizers info in the description. Its very important to have a really good reliable digitizer especially when starting out. Later, you can learn digitizing by studying designs and sew outs. Overall patches are very simple. You can also just add a regular satin stitch around the patch also.

    Great video “Navy Spouse” here of my husband veteran served 28 yrs! Question: when you switch projects or fabrics do you need to play with the tension? That scares me.

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  3 роки тому +1

      Hello, I switch bobbins with different tension when I move from hats to something flat like patches or polo shirts. So yes, I play with the tension in that regards, but thats the only time. Its all about practice. Find one project, master that project then move to the next project. Eventually you'll see that most projects are similar and every project begins to resemble each others technique.

    Hello. this is a great video...I want to try making patches . I have been watching many videos. Numerous videos say to use badgemaster. I see that your video is very simple. I love this. With using the lighter on the patch does it make it smell?. Again than you so much for sharing your knowledge.

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  Рік тому

      No it doesn't smell. If you leave the flame too long on the material it can smoke up, you have to do it fairly quick.

  • @threadchemistry

    So you stitch the border, or the satin circle, twice? once before your first fabric cut and then once before your last cut away cut??

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  Рік тому

      I usually use a placement stitch (run stitch), a cut stitch (run stitch) then a satin stitch, then final cut.

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  3 роки тому +2

      I am using a decorative motif (false marrow satin stitch). If I want just a quick satin stitch i'll use a simple satin stitch.

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  2 роки тому

    Would it make it easier to precut twill circles the exact size of our art work for clean edges every time?

    I know your area is different than mine, but may i ask what you charge for your items, patches. Embroider on hats, jackets, polos etc? Just for some type of reference point, an idea... Again, i realize or area's are very different so pricing in my market will be different maybe... But some sort of starting point to work off??? Thank you as always, Ever. Look forward to our class tomorrow. Have a great Labor Day weekend.

    • @RomeroThreads

      I like to work with good quality blanks and pricing can always change but for the most part, I charge about $25-35 on hats depending on stitch count and puff. Polos from $45-60 depending on brand.

    • @LeJean_Dennis
      @LeJean_Dennis Рік тому

      @@RomeroThreads thank you so much! I do not have room for inventory, which is a huge bummer, so I am hoping to be able to find some catalogs "blanks" that do not list prices that I can show and recommend items??? Separate price., separate price sheet. I could highlight quality items for them to choose from. Not sure how this is all going to work yet. I am pretty good with people, trustworthy so I think that will work as far as being upfront about having to order items prior per job basis then embroidery time. Sorry very winded I will figure it out. Boss asked if I wanted to try my hand at our company jackets. Very excited. Do you have a Romero email address for these types of questions etc? If so will you share during tomorrows class? Take care & thanks again

      You can email me at the email listed on the about page. As far as showing customers catalogs, I direct them to the wholesale websites we use, they only see the retail price so its no problem.

    2 quick questions about procedures I didn't quite understand. 1. Why the hooping of double cutaway in the beginning? 2. As the patches stitched, were you just laying down individual pieces of of twill for each patch for ease of trimming? Oh,...and would you repeat this process a few times with different colors of twill other than black? Thanks in advance,...looking forward to your answer, as I was a little confused.

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  3 роки тому +2

      Hello, I am using 2 pieces of cut away to give it a strong base and so it wont be too flimsy. And yes, I am placing the teill individually for ease of cutting and having the option of changing twill colors. This can beneficial if you are making same design different color combo patches. Thanks.
