Fabulous build. I can't wait to see what you do with the GX 550. Lexus clearly wasn't thinking of off road bumpers when they designed the front of the new Overtrail. It's going to be tricky to get any significant improvement in approach angle without cutting everything apart. But I'm sure you guys will figure it out!
Thanks, Frank! We're in the design phase now with a 550 here in the shop. We'll do our best to provide max clearance without extensive metal cutting and still keep the sensors functional.
For sure. Most of our bumpers have the recovery points prominently featured on the front of the bumper because they align with the frame horns but the new LC is different and the horns are located much lower.
The front is really awesome work. As for the back, isn’t there a way to have the spare tire closer to the body of the car? It looks very far and a bit odd.
The swingarms and accessories work on all of our bumpers so there needs to be room between the back window/hatch to allow for different vehicle designs and the functionality of our tire carrier table and such. There a lot going on compared to a simple bar-style tire carrier. You can, however, tilt the wheel to better match the angle of the hatch if you like that look. Additionally, should you come down hard off a ledge and hit the bottom of the tire, there is a bit of room for the tire to tilt forward and absorb some of the impact stress which would otherwise crack welds or break something.
The rear can be purchased without any swingouts but you will still have the same provisions for the swingouts should you choose to buy them at a later date. For max clearance builds you can look at our teal LC250 which uses our Extreme Clearance bumper but will require extensive cutting of the frame to fit so it's not generally sold off our website.
Another excellent video. Thanks! You mentioned twice that you gained a fair bit of clearance with the new bumpers. Do you have any numbers (even approximations) for what improvements you're seeing with ground clearance, and approach and departure angles?
Honestly we have been so slammed trying to get these rigs ready for events that we never stopped to take actual measurements. I'll see if we can do that and add it to the descriptions. As you know, tire size and lift plays a big role in clearance and both of our 250s went straight to 35" tires or larger right off the bat.
@@dissentoffroad Thanks. That'd be very informative. True, several factors can affect that geometry. Perhaps your design software (CAD?) can offer answers assuming no lift and stock tires. Whatever the case, I'd appreciate any metrics you can share .
You mentioned that the two side wings on the front bumper are separate so can I just install the middle part without installing the side wings and keep the sides factory.

Man you guys do such quality work! That build is clean!!!
Appreciate it!
Love everything I saw. Glad you pointed out the recovery points on the front bumper.

Incredible work, Ben! Love how well you brought the Toyota Design language into the bumpers.
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Love the Bumper Design!
Well done, thanks for pushing forward with this new platform 🍻
You're quick! It's not even finished rendering for 4k viewing. Haha
Love this! Such a sick ride overall!
Love this build !!
You love all of our builds! :p That's why we love ya!
Would love to see you come up with something similar for the Lexus Gx550 OT
sweet!

Can the rear be had as a single swing out or only as a dual?

Unfortunately, they are not designed that way. It would look very unfinished without the side wings. :(
Looks good, good luck selling them
Thanks!
