Fair play to Shaun he’s a class act when he’s lost to the better man and rightly calls Ronnie the best of all time. He’s also right when he says people need to get on with their own lives and leave him alone. He’s a professional and knows what he’s doing. He’s quality when he does the pundit stuff too. Good luck to the GOAT in the final.

I agree that people just need to let it go with criticizing him about the punditry. It's a fair question to ask once or twice but after a while you just have to accept that that is what he's doing and he wants to do it and so be it. _Even if_ people were right that he'd play better without doing the punditry, who cares, it's his choice to make but that's a big if because I'm always skeptical when people assume they know better what'd work for other people.

Murphys a great snooker player no doubt, but he knows that before long some of the other snooker pundits will either die or retire, what he’s doing is provisionally booking his spot with the bbc as he’s next job.
I think at times he doesn’t do himself any favours commenting and he’s happy to have an opinion on somebody or something but when the tables turned he spits he’s dummy out! (As in the above interview) formality is part of the sport but lightern up its only snooker not a formal dinner, it’s all trick of the mind.....but yeah a gob ?hite and a ?nob at times!!

I tend to agree with this assessment of Murphy, he's very touchy at times and of course opinionated, but if you've been asked for your opinion as a pundit or a commentator obviously you're going to provide it! I think he's actually very irritating as a commentator at times, he reminds me of Willie Thorne at his worst, he just won't shut up when sometimes less is more. There's no need to describe every outcome of every possible shot a player might take. Let the viewer use their imagination a little, sometimes silence is golden. Steve Davis, John Virgo, Dennis Taylor and Stephen Hendry are great examples of how to get it right. But it's still early days for Murphy I think.

@@darrenthompson4211Yeah especially Hendry, he really is a great commentator and doesn't feel the need to constantly fill dead air just for the sake of saying something, to the point sometimes it's actually quite funny when a co commentator might say some nonsense hoping for a bit of follow on from Hendry and it's just complete silence lol
